"The random babblings of another loser" is what anti-hero Barney speaks into his recorder, as he winds up his verbal memoirs in this pretentious, overwritten example of what happens when would-be filmmakers used the handy format of XXX porn in its early period (1973) to make a movie. It sums up the duo of directors' work as well.
They rounded up the top NYC femme talent of the year to create this junker. Barney's contrasting girlfriends played by Georgina Spelvin and lovely Tina Russell were superstars of the moment, plus busty Darby Lloyd Rains cuckolding her husband by humping Barney while spouse is tied to a chair, and Helen Madigan as Barney's model (for collages he creates). An untalented but fairly attractive Euro talent Any Mathieu is also in the cast for both comic relief and more sex scenes.
What emerges is terrible dialogue, even preserving on film the hoariest of Polish jokes and rambling anti-woman philosophizing, many failed attempts at black humor, and even a touch of kinkiness. Spelvin's character craves acting out her erotic fantasies, and Barney obliges, but ends one with violent rape (which of course she enjoys) and a likely faked Golden Shower.
So Barney is adamant against marrying again, faced with poverty due to payments due his ex-wife, but fights boredom with random sex. Cast in this central role is Paul Taylor, who resembles Eric Edwards with lots of facial hair and is a boring presence throughout. Other than adequate sound recording that preserves the lousy dialogue for posterity, no technical or artistic filmmaking skill is evident, just another primitive porn equivalent of a misguided off-Broadway play.
