Killing the Badge is such an ego trip, Nick Sturghill should be guilty as charged. The movie is so boring, I fell asleep. The action scenes were good but hey, he must have hired professionals. Nick has plastered his name in every credit he can and it shows because the movie sucked. Please Nick do not make any more movies because one can expect your movie to star you, playing your mother, brother, father, dog, neighbor, sister, etc. and of course it will be directed by you, starring yous, casted by you, shot by you, catered by you, distributed by you from the back seat of your car. Well you get the picture, if you want to see an ego maniac picture see this one, it is boring and stars Nick twice as the wanna be Shaft. Two thumbs down, because Nick is the clown.
Five minutes into the movie, Sturghhill, is still running his name in the credits. Man, this guy does it all from executive producer to dog walker. I actually went to an "audition" for his "next" movie Westown. What a joke. He had 30 actors in a hot warehouse waiting for scripts. We all walked out after an hour of bullshit. He's married to a rich Indian woman so he's using her cash, although the whole setup stinks of a money-laundering operation. Kind of like "The Producers". Get a lot of money from investors, make a bomb for a fraction of the price, and pocket the rest. FWIW, I heard he stiffed the actors on this piece of tripe as well.
Hold on....ok...thought I was gonna hurl again! This feature film, and I am being extremely nice, is very, very, very bad! I beseech thee to only view this as a learning tool on how NOT to make your first movie. I have it on good authority that the budget for this mindless, plotless, thoroughly confusing and meandering show was about $1,000,000. Well, I guess there really are suckers born every minute. Unfortunatley, in this case, they are called investors! Can we have some kind of watchdog group that makes sure money goes to viable, entertaining indie projects? Just food for thought. Nick Sturghill appears to be a wanna-be director who needs to learn some things. First, do you ever see the Coens or Speilberg in their own movies? No! And there's a good reason, Virginia...they can't act. And neither can director Sturghill. There is no grace in having your name plastered over every credit. Sure, Rodriguez did it, but he's talented. Please go back to doing whatever it is that you used to do, Nick. This film is an embarrassment.
I saw this movie a while back and I also happen to know the creator of the movie. Yes, the movie was bad but didn't have to be. I think in the hands of a good writer the story could have been made into a great movie. I think with the right actors and a good director, it would have been good. To me that was the shame of it all. I just saw a potentially great product and a kick for the independent industry just become a waste. The budget was said to be a million dollars but this movie could have been made with a third of that. I just think it is the classic and frequent example of what is seen in the independent scene. They try to be everything in a movie yet wouldn't work for the necessary experience (yet criticize the veterans!!)and aren't secure enough to stick to one role in a movie or set. The end result - always a bad movie and yes i am in the independent scene and have seen the necessary, uncalled for and unproven ego. In the end a busted career and a harder chance for another independent to raise money.
Despite all these losers trying to dumb down my dads great movies . Let me tell y'all all these losers writing bad reviews and to the person who came to audition , I'm his son speaking and y'all will never amount to anything or be half of the man my father is . His honor remains and his achievements. He is a great director and actor and killing the badge is a amazing film. I'm proud to call nick sturghill my father and I have a lot to live up to. If anybody has something bad to say you can personally message me on face book @ Nigel sturghill.
