    Cantinflas as D'Artagnan

Los tres mosqueteros (1942) is a Mexican film directed by Miguel M. Delgado. In this version of The Three Musketeers, the comedian Cantinflas portrays D'Artagnan.

Usually, Cantinflas plays bumbling, inept characters. So it's a stretch for him to be D'Artagnan. However, if you think about the novel, D'Artagnan is from the countryside. The three musketeers are Parisian sophisticates but he isn't. In that sense, it isn't quite so far a stretch.

Director Delgado sticks to the plot. Of course, The Three Musketeers is a great adventure story, so the movie works on that basis. It's hardly a masterpiece, but it's an interesting and unusual adaptation.

The film has a dismal IMDb rating of 6.4. I thought that it was better than that, and rated it 7.

A new version of the famous story of Alexandre Dumas made by Miguel M. Delgado with Cantinflas as the principal actor of this parody. But also some important mexican actors and actresses of this time such as Angel Garasa, Rafael Icardo, Estanislao Schillinsky, Jose Elias Moreno, Janet Alcoriza, Consuelo Frank participate in this funny comedy.Los tres mosqueteros is really a good comedy.
