    a gem from the archive

John Bennett is a Jewish barber in Stamford hill.He has just turned 50.He pretends to his customers that he has a wife and family. However in reality.he does not.He has a dumb friend he comes to the decision to go over to his neighbour Megs Jenkins,a widow with two teenage children, and ask her to marry him. What follows is very well written and acted.Funny and sad by turns.
