finally, a great, dark comedy about "that time of the month"

I flew into NYC to see a screening of "The Curse" last night and I wasn't disappointed. The film deals with a young assistant TV producer who seemingly turns into a werewolf everytime she gets her period. Without spoiling too much of the plot, I just have to add that the cinematography of NYC was beautiful, the dialogue had everyone in the audience laughing out loud, Amy Laughlin was perfect in the lead role and Mike Dooly hit all the right notes as the cop who falls in love with his prime suspect. Keep your eye out for this flick. It's gonna be something special.

More than a horor film -- an indie with edge

I saw this film, expecting a horror film, but it's much more. It's really an original independent romantic comedy with a sharp edge. I was very impressed with the fresh new cast and could appreciate what the filmmakers were able to do with a very small budget. Having made a film once myself, I realize how difficult this must have been to pull off. Lead actress Amy Laughlin is a force to be reckoned with, and my girlfriend nearly fell in love with her co-star, Mike Dooly. The unusual take on the werewolf genre is refreshing. I would highly recommend this film. And for aspiring indie filmmakers, the commentaries on the DVD are quite informative. I look forward to seeing what they come up with for their next film.

    Fast and "Furry"-ous

Excellent casting, polished performances, brilliant plot, superlative direction, exquisite production values, unpredictable storyline, eye candy, dark humor, and quirky romance. Garry brings lycanthropy into the new millennium. The detective / suitor is appropriately handsome and enigmatic. The score is wonderful. Realistic locations engender authenticity. Definitely a date movie for 21st century lycans. Friendship under odd circumstances is explored. "Snacks" get their just "desserts". Special effects on a shoestring are very realistic. Room was left for a sequel. Hopefully, the writer-director has one in the works. See it on a full moon with a man who's "pure of heart".

for pms werewolves everywhere...and the men who love them

Jacqueline Garry has a hilarious, twisted little gem here that cuts across all genres. It's a little bit of everything: a romantic, dark, horror comedy, the result of which left me constantly side-swiped and laughing out loud. The actors are pitch-perfect, playing the horror of their situation with such nonchalance that it's almost easy to miss the cleverness of Garry's dialogue. Almost. But it's that subtlety against the obvious that makes this film work so well, and left me laughing long after it ended. Beautiful shots of NYC, along with a haunting score, give it the look and feel of a classic horror flick. But it's not that at all--it's a sweet-girl-turned-PMS-werewolf love story! I like the way Ms. Garry thinks.
