Sachin Pilgaonkar and Ranjeeta Kaur in Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978)
Arun and Lily met in classroom for the first time. Arun (Sachin), the only son of a Barrister father, stood second in the exams to Lily Fernandes (Ranjeeta), a shy, simple, modest girl - the daughter of an ordinary nurse in a private nursing home. The shock of the defeat was too much for Arun, and he took up a challenge - even nursed a personal vendetta - to bring down the growing popularity of Lily in the college. Lily, however, bore no malice against him. She even tolerated all the sarcasm and nasty pranks of the close chums of Arun.
As time went by, Arun and Lily started admiring each other's qualities. One day, Arun's father walked in to the Fernandes house with a proposal for marriage between Arun and Lily. The happiness of the young lovers knew no bounds. But when everything was nicely set up for a happy ending, suddenly, Lily falls ill. Blood culture test proves the case to be Leukemia. No effort is spared to arrest the disease, and save the poor girl. But will Lily survive? What happens next?

    Review By Kamal K

It's a classic example of Simplicity and true Love. Acting of Sachin and Ranjeeta is awesome. Madanpuri and Urmila Bhatt also done marvelous Hib. Above all, Iftikhar is an All time top class although had lesser to do here but have done justice to his role. I got an idea to watch it theu it's Wonderful Title song which us one if my favourites. Blood cancer was incurable by then. Efforts of everyone are praiseworthy. It deserves 9 out of 10.

Best Hindi movie of all time (Romantic genere)

There is no vulgarity. Lily-Arun created history by this movie in Indian cinema.

Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (Through the Eyelashes (1978) ) is a highly praised and famous Indian movie. It is regarded as the best Bollywood movie of all time in romantic genere. It is a pure Bollywood romantic movie that is without vulgarity.

Arun (Sachin) and Lily (Ranjeeta) proved their great acting brilliance in this movie. Their performance in this movie is exceptional. Direction of the movie is better than its remarkable story.

Another Movie Which can be Easily Lovable by 3 Different Generations....

Those were the days ! When my father used to run cassettes through tape recorder. I was very young at that time and these songs still remains my heart and of course gives me a lot of joy after listening these tracks. 4 months back I watched Sachin Pilgaonkar's "Nadiya ke Paar" and absolutely loved that movie and decided to go for this "Ankhiyon ke Jharakon Se" but unfortunately due to some busy schedules in my professional job I couldn't go for it. But now in this evening I decided to go for it and gonna review it straight from my heart..

This movie is a Musically Gem, Tragically Awesome, Romantically Heart Warming. All those Human Emotions will be easily testable through this brilliant movie. The first half of this movie is all about College Life, fun in the classes, romance with classmates, being competitive among peers and sports and cultural competitions ; Whereas the 2nd Half of the movie is all about Tragedy due to some unavoidable circumstances, characters decision making ability and courage to handle such situations. We as an audience can easily feel all those emotions behind the characters. In fact, in the last 45min there was not a single seconds where my eyes were not leaking those tears. Ohh Man! This movie definitely gonna make you cry! Similarly it will give you the perfect definition of True Love.

The Music is top notch in this entire film especially those background scores designed by Ravinder Jain is truly heart touching. The Acting performances of 2 leading characters were extremely great. I am very much impressed with Sachin's acting and of course Ranjeeta stole my heart. I am quite surprised that why they both didn't focused that much in playing Leading characters in their future times in movies. They both along with the actress of 'Nadiya ke Paar' definitely deserved some brilliant acting projects for their future. It was a 1978 movie, still it's runtime is around 130min which is great and the editor did his job perfectly in that department. Even after 45+years it still feeling refreshing to watch.. Definitely recommending to go with your whole family.. From my side it will be 9 Out of 10 Stars for it...

    one of my favorites!

this movie is one of those few Indian movies that portrays realistic picture rather than the typical ideal picture. I likes this movie because the characters in this movie seem real, they can be anyone you go to college with or see on the street. Another thing was the main conflict that the characters face, it is portrayed without too much drama and in a way that tugs your heart, you'll laugh and you'll cry, it's a tear jerker! it will make you appreciate the presence of the one you love in your life. the songs are amazing. especially like the one with kabir's and rahim's dohe (one of those few INTELLIGENT songs u'll ever hear)
