Taylor Swift Reflects on Her Reputation, Reinvention in Revealing New Poem: 'Let Go of the Words They Hurl Your Way'
Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)
Taylor Swift is continuing to control the narrative of her Reputation-era public persona.

To accompany her British Vogue cover story and fashion shoot, the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer wrote a revealing new poem, which the U.K. outlet published in its January 2018 issue.

The prose — titled “The Trick to Holding On” — finds Swift, 27, reflecting on reinvention and growing up.

In the first stanza, she references people you remove from life over time that have caused you harm. “Let go of the words they hurl your way,” she writes, adding: “Their words will cut, but your tears will dry.

Sam Smith Debates Kim Kardashian vs. Taylor Swift, Says He Doesn't Know The Singer 'Too Well'
Taylor Swift at an event for 2019 Golden Globe Awards (2019)
It seems like Taylor Swift may be Sam Smith’s next goodbye! Smith appeared on Tuesday’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen where he was asked about the on-going feud between Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift during a game of “Plead the Fifth.”

“Taylor Swift, I don’t know her too well. It’s been made out that we know each other, but I don’t know her too well. We’ve only met five times briefly,” Smith, 25, said of the “End Game” singer.

When Cohen pointed out that Smith attended Swift’s birthday party, he cheekily replied, “Yeah, but, I think a lot of people went.”

He added, “I got asked to go and it was great, but I didn’t get to chat one-on-one with her.”

Noting that he knows Kim more than Taylor, Smith was quick to claim, “Well, there’s no teams is there, really?”

And of the...

Michael Elphick in Holding On (1977)
A woman who managed to beat the odds and live more than a decade after being diagnosed with one of the deadliest forms of cancer has now dedicated her life to raising awareness and finding a cure for the disease.

In 2006, Laurie MacCaskill visited her doctor after experiencing intense “electrical” pains in her back that started at the top of her head and spread throughout her body, often leaving her breathless and unable to get out of bed. Doctors initially blamed gas or a pulled muscle, but MacCaskill’s discomfort remained for weeks, and she unexpectantly lost weight. When the...

Mark Boal and Annapurna Pictures Are Getting Into the Documentary Business
Mark Boal at an event for La 82e cérémonie des Oscars (2010)
Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal and Annapurna Pictures’ Megan Ellison launched the production company Page1 with the intention of developing material based on reporting of actual events, so it was only a matter of time before they got into the documentary business.

That’s happening now with the announcement that the company has signed on as executive producers of the Israeli documentary “Death in the Terminal,” which will be released in the U.S. by First Look Media, and Boal said in an interview that his company would be scouting documentary festivals for more new work. “There’s a ton of stuff out there, and a lot of it is really good,” he said.

The hourlong “Death in the Terminal,” directed by Tali Shemesh and Asaf Sundry, provides a deep-dive into a 2015 incident in an Israeli train station in which the pandemonium following a terrorist attack led to a mob mentality with dire consequences.

A24’s ‘The Lovers’ Woos Arthouse Box Office
Debra Winger and Tracy Letts in The Lovers (2017)
A weak arthouse market was brightened by “The Lovers,” a high-concept A24 release targeted at the usual older specialty demo. Azazel Jacobs, an indie veteran without a breakout film to his credit, returned to the feature world from HBO (“Doll and Em”) with “The Lovers” (A24). Its initial results put it atop the results for the weekend which saw several disappointments.

Several top specialized distributors optimistically counter-programmed against Marvel’s May juggernaut “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” hoping to fill the vacuum with no other wide releases to grab attention. That strategy can can launch a film like “Belle,” “Ida,” and “Far from the Madding Crowd” toward a big push in the early summer period including Memorial Day weekend.

Shonda Rhimes Secrets: The ‘Scandal’ Producer On How Not To Get Fired From a Writers’ Room
Shonda Rhimes
For an aspiring TV scribe, landing the first writing gig is a feat. Holding on to that job is a triumph.

Shonda Rhimes has some advice for novice writers on how not to get fired: Make some noise around the table, so that you have an immediate impact in the room. The secret seems obvious, but Rhimes told IndieWire that it’s surprising how many newbies clam up and immediately limit their careers.

“I think everybody feels like their goal in their job is to sit quietly in the corner and watch things happen,” Rhimes said. “And that is the most deadly mistake you can make. That is exactly how you get fired. The most silent person in the writers room is usually the first fired person in the writers room. Because people start to either think that the person is stupid or creepy or honestly doesn’t have anything to say.

Miss Grundy’s Secret Is Out In New Riverdale Trailer
Now having taken in three episodes of Riverdale, something has become very apparent to me: Never, ever miss the final minutes because there’s going to be some kind of a shocker and/or crazy cliffhanger that guarantees you’ll be coming back the following week.

In this case, it’s the trailer for next week’s episode, “Chapter Four: The Last Picture Show,” that has everybody talking. Long story short, Miss Grundy isn’t who she says she is.

When this series kicked off, I found myself quite surprised when Miss Grundy was cast so young and wrote it off as the producers taking advantage of developing a “Hot for Teacher” scenario with Archie, which they have done. But now, we’re learning that some identity theft may be afoot and she has assumed the identity...

Watch the Beginning of Disclosure’s Weird Sci-Fi Short Film
Michael Elphick in Holding On (1977)
To promote their forthcoming album Caracal, Disclosure has approved the creation of a (very) chameleonic sci-fi project: The beginning (shown in this Ryan Hope–helmed video here for "Holding On," featuring Gregory Porter) looks like Orphan Black met Insidious at a club and then had a baby. As the song progresses, that feel morphs into something kind of X-Men-y and then something else maybe a little RoboCop-y. "We wanted to create something very different with our music videos this time around, something unique that would connect all the songs from the album and the videos in a special way," the duo wrote on Twitter. They went on to explain that this clip is actually the first in a series of four vignettes (the others will be available here). When considered together, the quartet of clips will form a short film with the same name as the group's new record. Think...

That's exactly how one can describe pregnant Keira Knightley's latest street style ensemble, which she breezily sported while strolling through London with her husband, James Righton, on Wednesday, April 15. Holding on to her love's hand, the Imitation Game actress, 30, revealed her baby bump in a three-quarter-sleeve sweater, teamed with a strawberry, knee-length skirt. She accessorized the look with a pair of black sandals, see-through shades, and a quilted, miniature Chanel purse. (Meanwhile, a ruffled-haired Righton, 31, looked casually handsome by her [...]...

The Blacklist Review: “Tom Keen” (Season 2, Episode 16)
Finally, an episode about everyone’s favorite fake husband secret agent! Of course, you know I’m being sarcastic, right? Holding on to Tom Keen as a regular character on The Blacklist struck me as a move akin to when Alias tried to hold on to characters like Will and Francie even though the point of having them around had long since disappeared and taking time out of the plot to service them seemed more a distraction than anything. The Blacklist has had many chances to eliminate Tom Keen, but for some reason it feels compelled to keep him in play. Now, presented with another opportunity to get rid of him in this episode, they once again passed up on the chance.

In a sense, “Tom Keen” was all about repetition. The whole subplot about Liz being accused of the murder of the harbourmaster, Ames, a murder committed by he ex-husband,...

All 28 David Fincher Music Videos, Ranked
David Fincher
With Gone Girl wowing critics and audiences last weekend, David Fincher is once again at the center of the movie universe. Let’s take a look back, from bad to brilliant.28. "Say You Will," Foreigner (1987)Close-ups, shifting shadows, black-and-white film stock, and glamorous women … "Say You Will" features the quartet of trademarks that would define Fincher's '80s aesthetic. Check Out The First Trailer For Russell Crowe’s Directorial Debut The Water Diviner
The first trailer for Russell Crowe’s directorial debut, The Water Diviner, has landed online. Set in the aftermath of WWII, the film has already garnered positive early reviews and looks quite promising.

Starring Crowe in the lead role as an Australian farmer, the story follows his journey to Turkey four years after the war. His mission is to track down the bodies of his three sons who were killed there during the Battle of Gallipoli.

The actor has enlisted a slew of rising talent to supporting his character’s journey into the emotional abyss. Olga Kurylenko, Yilmaz Erdogan, Cem Yilmaz, Jai Courtney, Steve Bastoni, Isabel Lucas, Ryan Corr, Dan Wyllie, Damon Herriman, Jacqueline McKenzie, Michael Dorman, Megan Gale, and Dylan Georgiades all appear in what’s so far been a relatively low-key flick.

U2 release weird cover for 'Songs of Innocence's' physical release
U2 have said that their divisive new album -- given out free to iTunes subscribers last week -- was their most intimate yet, and the cover of the upcoming physical release underlines that claim. It may be a little too intimate. The simple cover features Glen Luchford's stark black and white photo of drummer Larry Mullen Jr. in a half-naked embrace with his 18-year-old son. The band's site states that it's meant to recall the iconic covers of U2's early albums "Boy" (1979) and "War" (1983). Their other famous cover images include the panoramic band portrait which adorns "The Joshua Tree" and the busy collage found on the front of "Achtung Baby." How does the new cover measure up? Take a look here: "We’ve always been about community in U2, about family and friends," frontman Bono explained on their site. "'Songs of Innocence' is the most intimate album we’ve ever made.

Mick Jagger at an event for Boardwalk Empire (2010)
Box Office: 'Guardians of the Galaxy' says 'I am no. 1' with $94 million
Mick Jagger at an event for Boardwalk Empire (2010)
"Guardians of the Galaxy" was expected to challenge the record for the biggest opening ever in August. No one thought it would completely blow it away.   Earning a superb A Cinemascore from moviegoers and arguably some of the best reviews ever for a Marvel Studios film, "Galaxy" took in $94 million over its first three days. That completely obliterates the previous August champ, "The Bourne Ultimatum," which found $69.2 million in 2007. Marvel has already green lit a sequel for 2017 and you can expect star Chris Pratt to continue his ascension into one of Hollywood's biggest new movie stars.  The 35-year-old will appear in "Jurassic World" next summer and, in a very convenient coincidence, say goodbye to "Park and Recreation" as the NBC comedy series ends with season seven. What the "Moneyball" and "Zero Dark Thirty" actor will decide to do with that newfound freedom will be one of the more intriguing entertainment...

USA Defeats Ghana In 2014 World Cup Debut
The United States national soccer team beat Ghana in their first game in the group round of the 2014 World Cup Monday night.

USA Beats Ghana At World Cup

U.S. came out onto the field in Brazil Monday determined not to let Ghana, who has knocked them out of the last two World Cups, get another win off of them. With less than a minute into the game, star forward Clint Dempsey dribbled through the left side of the penalty box and slid the ball inside the far post of the net for his squad’s first goal of the tournament.

With the one goal lead, the U.S. was able to settle into a possession game as Ghana fought to regain momentum. Eventually, the Ghanaians had their first legitimate chance to score, but were denied by American keeper Tim Howard, who sprinted off his line to make the save.

The special was followed by a 1-hour and 1-minute Dateline (1.3/5), which was even with last week’s 8 – 10 Pm episode. The second week of Crossbones (0.9/3) saw a 9% slip for the pirate drama from last week’s debut. Miranda Lambert
Review: Miranda Lambert shines on diverse new album, 'Platinum'
Miranda Lambert
Miranda Lambert has what Mary Tyler Moore’s boss, Lou Grant, would call “spunk.” She’s feisty, she doesn’t mince words, and she gives as good, if not better, than she gets. On album after album, she shows that beneath that toasty exterior is a heart that is very capable of being broken. The overloaded "Platinum"— there are 16 tracks on the standard edition— is stylistically Lambert’s most diverse (and that's saying a lot given some of the adventurous turns she took on 2011's "Four The Record") : She veers into western swing on the chugging, plucky cover of Tom T. Hall’s “All That’s Left” (featuring the fantastic Time Jumpers), spoken-word blended with ‘60s psychedelia on “Red Wagon,” and rock on the thumping “Something Bad,” featuring Carrie Underwood (which comes off far better on the recorded version than the song’s live debut at the Billboard Music...

Extended Featurette Provides First Look at Russell Crowe’s Directorial Debut, The Water Diviner
An extended, behind-the-scenes featurette for The Water Diviner has provided a first look at Russell Crowe's upcoming directorial debut. The story centers on an Australian man (Crowe) who travels to Turkey to attempt to locate the bodies of his three sons, who were killed there during Wwi. The featurette is narrated by Crowe, and his passion for the material really comes through. Even though this is only his first feature, it looks like he's come up with something that has a grand scope but retains its focus on the intimate character drama. This is definitely one I'm going to be keeping on my radar, and although it doesn't currently have a release date, I hope we'll get to see it soon. Hit the jump to check out The Water Diviner featurette. The film also stars Olga Kurylenko, Yilmaz Erdogan, Cem Yilmaz, Jai Courtney, Steve Bastoni, Isabel Lucas, Ryan Corr,...

Glee Recap

Back in the New Directions rehearsal room, students past and present get together to mourn the end of the glee club as they know it through song. They’re tasked with reinventing songs they’ve performed in the past. Before they get to their individual assignments, they do a rendition of "Raise Your Glass," led by Kristin Chenoweth back in her role of drunk Broadway star April Rhodes.
