Sabrina, Alex and Temple are about to graduate from high school, and all want to go to Spelman College, which is a long way from home. They also want to go the prom. All the girls experience difficulties in their quest for college. In Alex's case, the problem is money, but there is also the fact that she didn't apply to any other colleges. And she believes she can goof off in high school once she gets accepted into college.
The girls are very good friends, but their various problems threaten to break up the group. Can they deal with the situation and remain friends?
There are a lot of lessons about life here, and good performances by many of the leading actors. I stumbled onto this movie by accident, but it was worth seeing.

I thought this was a very good one hour film about a group teens preparing for college. Some of the issues were similar to the book I wrote, The Last Good Girl. I love short films about African American young people faced with drama that they must overcome in order to achieve. I have to say What About Your Friends was a tasteful film that many people will enjoy. I think Gina did a great job of selecting the characters for the roles; they fit into the script perfectly. I wish that there were more films of this nature. Gina definitely have me anticipating what her next film will be.................................
"What About Your Friends" is only an hour long, but it gives a realistic view into the lives of three teens in that short time.
This film is about three African American teen girls who are close to graduating from high school. They have been planning for quite some time that they all would go to the same college so their friendship could remain the same. They all get into the college and everything seems to be going great with their senior year, but things start to change and the girls friendship is put in jeopardy.
The situations in the movie are handled nicely, they could have become cliched, but are always well played. The characters are very well developed, mainly Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle from Saved By The Bell) character, who is bullied because in her neighborhood it is looked down upon to strive for an education.
"What About Your Friends" obviously hasn't been seen by many, but it should, because it tells a realistic tale and shows the importance of friendship.
