Paramount+ is heading into the fall season by bringing TV watchers a whole new round of TV shows and films.

Our hearts were ringin’ in the key that our souls were singin’ for these new titles that are dropping on the streamer this September, just like Earth, Wind and Fire said. And if you love the group, you’ll have to check out the the TV special “A Grammy Salute to Earth, Wind & Fire Live: The 21st Night of September,” which drops on Sept. 21.

Why so blue? Easing your transition from “Blue Bloods,” another familiar face will be popping up in the series premiere of CBS’ upcoming “Boston Blue”: Bridget Moynahan is set to reprise her role as Erin Reagan, and has also signed on to direct an episode of the spinoff.

The Eye network announced Friday that Moynahan would make a “special guest appearance” on the premiere, which will follow Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) as he becomes a detective with the Boston police department. The network also revealed she would direct an episode in Season 1; she had previously directed multiple episodes of “Blue Bloods.”

Wahlberg is joined on “Boston Blue” by Sonequa Martin-Green as Lena Silver, Maggie Lawson as Sarah Silver, Marcus Scribner as Jonah Silver, Gloria Reuben as Mae Silver and Ernie Hudson as Reverend Peters.

Before Ben Affleck reasserted his franchise credentials with The Accountant and its follow-up, the recently released The Accountant 2, he'd previously made an attempt to appeal to the dads of America with The Sum of All Fears. As geopolitical tensions rise across the globe, Netflix viewers are turning to a Tom Clancy political thriller. The Sum of All Fears, the 2002 adaptation of Clancy's 1991 novel about a terrorist attack on American soil, has risen to #10 on the Netflix streaming charts. The film features Ben Affleck as the third big-screen portrayer of Clancy's analyst-turned-action man, Jack Ryan. Ryan had already been featured in three films: in the first, The Hunt for Red October, he was played by Alec Baldwin, while in the subsequent two films, Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, he was portrayed by Harrison Ford.

Although all three films were solid box-office hits, the series was rebooted to feature a younger leading man in the form of Affleck; likewise, the book's plotline was altered to make the grizzled veteran Ryan into a wet-behind-the-ears rookie, confronted with an unimaginable crisis on his first week on the job as a CIA analyst.

This year, viewers can enter the world of Tom Clancy in a way they never have before. The first-ever animated series based on the late military thriller writer's work, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, is coming to Netflix. While updating the rest of their animation slate, the streamer has announced that the series will premiere this fall. The series is based on Ubisoft's Splinter Cell video game franchise, which began in 2002 and centers around Fourth Echelon, a fictitious black-ops division of the National Security Agency. Led by Sam Fisher, Fourth Echelon is an elite strike team that emphasizes stealth above all else.

Michael B. Jordan took on a role in the Tom Clancy movieWithout Remorse that has mostly gone overlooked, but according to a former Navy Seal, it includes some very realistic fighting scenes. Clancy is best known for writing the Jack Ryan books that ended up being made into movies, starting with The Hunt for Red October. The Jordan movie, Without Remorse, exists in that world.

Without Remorse follows the Jack Ryan supporting character John Kelly (also known as John Clark). In previous movies, Willem Dafoe (Clear and Present Danger) and Liev Schreiber (The Sum of All Fears) portrayed the character, a black ops soldier who will get his hands dirty, so Jack Ryan doesn't have to. The summer of 2002 kicked off a whole new era in spy movies, but not in the way Hollywood expected. You see, three spy movies were coming out that year, and only one of them was predicted to be a hit. Ben Affleck says that Field of Dreams star Kevin Costner was just "being kind" when he said he remembered him and Matt Damon on set. The two young actors were extras in the sports film's Fenway Park scene.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Affleck responded to Costner talking about the impression he and Damon made while on set. "Kevin is being kind saying he remembers us because we were not memorable," Affleck said with a laugh, adding: "It's sweet of him to say that, but I’m pretty sure he remembers the actors with lines." Previously on Jimmy Kimmel, Costner recalled Affleck and Damon as being 'on fire' while working on Field of Dreams in the late 80s.

The film was meant to relaunch the Ryanverse with a younger cast, and featured Ben Affleck as the famous CIA analyst. The cast was stacked, with Morgan Freeman as Dci William Cabot, James Cromwell as President Fowler, Phillip Baker Hall as Defense Secretary Becker, and Liev Schrieber as fan-favorite John Clark.

Phil Alden Robinson (The Field of Dreams) directed The Sum of All Fears, and it opened on May 31, 2002, not long after 9/11. The film follows Ryan as he tries to stop nuclear war from breaking out between the United States and Russia, following a nuclear bomb going off in Baltimore. The villains are re-worked into Austrian neo-Nazis who want war to happen so they can create a new fascist state in Europe.

Few things are as arbitrary and unpredictable as the titles that reign over Netflix's weekly streaming charts. Interestingly, Trump: An American Dream was abruptly removed from the service yesterday globally, and after only a day, it’s back, albeit without Netflix Original branding. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan star John Krasinski has shared an image of himself as the titular character in the upcoming movie. While the Amazon Prime Video show ended in 2023, last fall it was announced that the streamer, Krasinski, and the show's producers were moving ahead with a film. And the movie is already in production in Dubai, according to Krasinski's Instagram post.

The image sees Krasinski as Ryan dressed in black while holding a rifle, standing with the city behind him. The actor wrote:

Harrison Ford's turn as Jack Ryan is heading to a new streaming home in the new year.

Per Paramount+, both of Ford's Jack Ryan films will be added to the streaming platform's catalog on January 1. This includes 1992's Patriot Games, as well as its 1994 sequel, Clear and Present Danger, which stand as the second and third silver-screen adaptations of acclaimed author Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels, respectively.

Although plot details are under wraps, the writers and producers would be wise to adapt Clancy's fourth novel, The Cardinal of the Kremlin.

Published in 1988, The Cardinal of the Kremlin is a direct sequel to Clancy's acclaimed debut novel The Hunt for Red October, which John McTiernan adapted to critical acclaim in 1990. A film adaptation was planned in the mid-'90s with Harrison Ford attached to play Jack Ryan for a fourth time, but it was considered too difficult to film.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan's titular character has gone through a lot, and the next step of his journey is to become president. Amazon MGM just announced a new Jack Ryan movie is in development, opening the door for Jack to end up on the country's biggest podium. Jack is not a politician by the end of the show, but he has good political relationships and makes a name for himself as a hero across the globe.

Actor turned filmmaker John Krasinski is, according to a new report, set to reprise the role of Jack Ryan for a feature film at Prime Video. It’s a part he first began to play for the streaming platform in 2018, with the thriller series being one of the most successful attempts to adapt Tom Clancy’s novels.

Despite Krasinski’s growing reputation as a filmmaker (see A Quiet Place and If), Prime Video has, Deadline says, managed to lure him back for a movie continuation of that earlier series.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, often just referred to as Jack Ryan, premiered on Prime Video in August 2018 and featured John Krasinski as the title character, a former U.S. Marine officer and Afghanistan war veteran working as a financial analyst for the CIA.
