Intentionally bad

Once it's quickly established that this is a stupid ripoff of "Basic Instinct", writer Cash Markman and director Scotty Fox (a deadly combination) feel license to insult the audience with stupid dialogue and dull presentation of the usual set of explicit sex scenes.

Nikki Dial has a sexy voice and is good looking, but is trapped in just another of her pointless vehicles. The horrible music touch is just the rancid icing on this half-baked cake of a porn video.

One bit of confusion: IMDb lists "Nikki Wilds" as lead character's name but the cops keep calling her Nikki Dial, for obvious reasons. Fake end credits run endlessly with silly pretend crew functions, the same stupid list seen in several other Fox/Markman stinkers to pad the short running time.

While this is not a spoof of Basic Instinct (1992), since "Nikki at Night" is not a comedy, it is clearly patterned after the mainstream thriller which came out in 1992, the same year the script for this porn mystery/thriller was written. In "Basic Instinct", Michael Douglas played the cop. Here it is Jonathan Morgan, but his character's name is Michael, as a nod to Douglas.
