Sharper than a pair of fangs!

Shot for just £ 12, 000, this film looks more like a million. Of course Vampire films may not be every ones cup of tea, but for heavens sake viewers look at the technique on show here. Amazing use of slow mo's, optical freezes and flashes. A true Maurice Binder title sequence, and staggeringly quickly cut, dynamic action scenes. If we are every to have more than just a Merchant Ivory based cinema in the UK then can be start supporting pictures like this. Empire magazine couldn't even be bothered to give it a review!! It may not be perfect, but how far do you think 12 grand goes these days? Also worth noting is the superbly over- the - top performance from Lighthouse's Chris Adamson. So often performances in low budget films look amateur, not here. Director of photography James Solan did an amazing job, the interior shots look as professional as many a Hollywood production and I'll bet he had about ten minutes to light each shot! The music by Richard Wells was also excellent. Well judged and perfectly placed. For goth fans everywhere and hopefully film fans, check this out on tape. Grab some beers, ask round a few friends and have a mad, entertaining and hilarious night in!! Forget those reviews that tell you it's awful....their just...err pains i

A different take on vampires - quite good...not brilliant!

Whether or not you'll like this depends on how seriously you intend to take it. I found it funny (in a tacky kind of way). It had some neat ideas which weren't used as well as they could be and some very good scenes. The acting was okay - if a bit iffy at times - and the special effects were nothing to write home about. If you take vampire films seriously then it's not for you. But if you take them with a pinch of salt you'll probably enjoy it!

An excellent film for the right audience.

Yes, this film is silly. Yes the script is badly written, the plot far from convincing, the acting mediocre...etc. But as a silly film, this film is highly entertaining. It is one of the best bad films I've ever seen (I would place it on a level with Commando), and you can even take it to a higher level by interpreting parts of it as a parody on the goth-culture and on traditional serious modern-vampire films. I don't think this film is meant to be taken seriously, just consider all the cheesy one-liners and how the characters never step outside the sterotype. I pressured a group of very sceptic people to watch this movie with me and within a few minutes, these people, who had just been threatening never to let me decide on a film again, were laughing out loud. I would watch this film again, no doubt about that :-)

So, relax people, it's perfectly o.k. to enjoy silly things, it won't make you any less an intellectual!

    Great filmmaking given the budget

I mainly watched this because I had read an article about the female protagonist in an admittedly strange mag (Bizarre). My expectations were as low as they possibly could be so maybe that's why I enjoyed so much what I saw... The story's an entertaining and fresh go at an ever so well known theme (vampires) but what really makes this movie worth watching is a) the fact (?) that the entire cast really seems to have had great fun while doing this and b) that the visuals are just what they ought to be given that the makers didn't have a Hollywood budget. Amateurish at times, it is convincing enough for what it is - a cheap but fun vampire movie with lots of teeth, bites and blood. All I can say is that I great fun for an hour and a half. I wish I could say similar things about some lame but big budget movies like The Matrix or the like. Watch it and make up your own opinion. My bet is you won't regret it.

    Low quality, high on gore

Just as you thought that Britain didn't have a small, low-budget movie industry left outside of student projects, Razorblade Smile makes it's appearance. This is not a good movie. Low production values (seems to have been shot on a handheld camcorder), very poor acting, especially by the lead, etc. However, if you like buxom women who also happen to be vampire assassins, it's worth a peek (she gets naked too).

I'd never seen Elain Daly before, but she looks good, is really well built (no silicone), gets naked, and there are some attractive, natural supporting women as well. It's supposed to be about the games vampires play when they have eternity on their hands. According to the IMDB's filmography, she has similar type movies to her credit, so you might want to check them out.

I could have done with some more graphic violence and bloodlust, though, but that may be because of the cut version I saw.
