I miss MONSTERVISION....and JOE BOB BRIGGS!!!!

MONSTERVISION was a great cable show that had a guy named Joe Bob Briggs sittin around a trailer drinkin cheap beer and commenting on old horror movies(some of them good, some of them middle-of-the-road,some of them bad...but so bad they are good,y'know???) Although SOME of the movies were entertaining the real reason to watch was the wise-cracks joe Bob would make about the movies. Before the movie would start he would tell ya a little something about the flick, and then hold up a chart that told you pretty much how people in the flick would meet thier demise.(If you cared about the "element of surprise" you didnt watch this part, which is a shame cuz it was the funniest part). For instance,he held up a chart that would say 1 Decapitation, 2 knife wounds, 1 hammer in the eye and 1 kick in the groin. Then the movie would start...sometimes good, sometimes bad...then they would go to break, and before the movie would start again they would show Joe Bob drinkin his cheap beer and laughing about something that had been in the clip of movie they had just shown. If someone had a really dumb line, or if there was a big plot problem he would point it out. He was really very funny and had a good banter with the others on the show...as well as cast and crew. I remember once they showed RAISING CAIN,a movie I had already seen...so I taped it and fast fowarded through the movie parts and just watched the Joe Bob parts. This was a good show to tape. That way even if you didnt care for the movie you could watch Joe Bob crack wise. In my opinion Joe Bob needs a new show.(if I had the funding,I'D give him one). When that day comes I will gladly be his mail girl.

    Joe Bob Briggs For President!

Ah, yes, Joe Bob Briggs, host of TNT's Monstervision!

The show was a great movie show and Joe Bob was a great horror movie host. I liked the episodes where he sat outside his trailer instead of inside it. That's a weird quirk for me, but I liked the outside of the trailer rather than inside it.

Joe Bob was and is a great movie host like Commander USA but the show got a bit dull towards the end of its run. They started doing this annoying shot towards the end of the series where they would cut to Joe Bob after a commercial and then pan past some tacky looking scrub brush and up to Joe Bob sitting outside his trailer. What was with that shot? Maybe I'm nitpicking but that annoyed the hell outta me.

And the banter with Reno the mail girl was great. I never liked Rusty the mail girl though. She was just an annoying bimbette. Long live Reno and long live Joe Bob!

And I especially loved the Monstervision music video. With the song lyrics "tearin' the heart out of Saturday Night". I guess it was just more of an extended promo for the show, but I still dug it!

    Monstervision

Monstervision was a great show hosted by Joe Bob Briggs. JB would comment on the movies playing, usually 2 every Saturday night. Joe Bobs comments included little known trivia and behind the scene facts about the featured shows. Hopefully another network will pick up Joe Bob Briggs. Email me if anybody has shows on tape and would like to trade from my over 80 shows.

    Best Series on Earth

This show has become a tradition with me and my brother.Every saturday i watch and i get upset if i fall asleep in the middle of it.Most of the movies are good or are classics, but every once in a while they show a cheese flick or two.On a scale of * being horrid and ***** being great id give it a ****************

    Greatest show on earth!

Monstervision is my all time favorite TV show. Joe Bob Briggs and his cheesy movies helped me get through countless tough Saturday nights. Even though I fell asleep during the second movie every week, I especially enjoyed Joe Bob's rants before each show and his tidbits in between commercials as well as Rusty the mail girl and obscure guests such as Linnea Quigly, Zachary Ty Bryan and Eugene Levy. The movies were great also. (the Guyver, Embrace of the Vampire, Voodoo, The Beastmaster, et. al. i recall Joe Bob's Friday the 13th marathon on Halloween being a real treat. I don't understand what happened to this great show. I came home from college for the summer one year and it was just gone. No explanation, no farewell show, just nothing!! Another network should pick up Monstervision or even just give Joe Bob another similar show. It had a cult following and no real competetion at 1:30 AM on saturdays...whats the problem??

Someone please get Joe Bob back on the air. He is THE MAN.
