A better than expected film, with some star power not usually seen in this type of feature. Worth a watch! David Hasselhoff, Rod Steiger and Corin Nemec in an interesting tale of finding one's family history and legacy. Based on a story by James Grady, author of "Three Days of the Condor".
Hypnotic and dark movie with late 90's peek into Manila and Knightrider's continuing big screen efforts. The movie suffers from lack of screenplay quality but still delivers enough to satisfy fans of Hasselhoff and Manila.....
An American war photographer helps a young Eurasian woman find her father she's not met before and gets caught in a web of intrigue and danger. This movie has an excellent war scene introduction that unfortunately lapses into a long meandering chase with little to sustain the viewer's attention. The peek into Filipino life in the suburbs of Manila is interesting but most of the acting borders on the mediocre. I'm not sure if this is an accurate reflection of the Philippines, but the movie certainly does not help the country's image of lawlessness (especially with the recent spate of kidnappings we're seeing). David Hasselhoff is not necessarily a bad actor, but he's so typecast from the days of Knight Rider and BayWatch that you can't imagine him being anyone else. There is a lot of action and the pace of the movie is relentless, but the script is listless. Another downside is that there is so little chemistry between the lead actors and actresses you wished you'd had spent your time watching something better.
Hey folks,
I have seen this movie and David Hasselhoff is, well, David Hasselhoff. He's a pretty bad actor -- despite his many obvious good qualities (looks, chiseled body, hair).
Anyway -- there are many many scenes in the movie that take your breath away. Seeing the ruined cities from the eruption of Mt. Pinutobo on the island of Luzon in the Philippines is a fantastic, albeit sad testament to the power of nature.
The movie was pretty hokie -- but at the same time relatively authentic. They shot most of this on location in the Philippines and I must say that they were pretty authentic with what you saw. I was impressed. I had visited many of the places they shot the film except for the area where they visited her grandmother's town.
I give Donita Rose *** stars, and David Hasselhoff **. Neither of them acted pretty well, but with a bad script, what can you expect.
The sights and sounds were amazing and authentic, Donita rose is awesome to look at anytime, but the movie just falls short of any expectations people may have about this movie.
Watch for the scenery and some of the cinematography, (and to catch a glimpse of the Asian bombshell Donita!) But other than, don't waste your time.
Vanran..

I happened upon this movie on HBO one night and I said, "Wow, the Philippines!" I've been a fan of Donita Rose in Philippine cinema and I grew up with David Hasselhoff on "Knight Rider."
A simple quest for a Filipina-American woman on a family search turns into an action adventure with shoot outs, a bit of violence and greed.
It was an okay fare and could have been written much better. In addition to Hasselhoff and Donita Rose, I have seen some of the other players in other major works and I guess they all signed up to bide their time and earn income between other roles.
Low budget? Sure. But I've said this before, low budget don't have to mean low quality in story telling. While this one wasn't too bad in plot and story, it definitely could have been better.
