A hysterical spoof of stale B&W educational films.

This film is an audience favorite at the Ohio Science Fiction marathons in Columbus, Ohio. I've seen it dozens of times, and it is one of the more clever spoofs around. I've heard from a friend that it has been shown on late-night movie shows, but it is the edited version. It is especially worth seeing the UNedited version, which includes the infamous "Big Sister" scene.

Kudos to the Drexel Theaters in Columbus for digging up this forgotten classic and keeping it alive at movie marathons every year.

    Ah, the '70s

Take a cute kid, goofy sight gags, a surprise pair of boobs and an animated Jiminy Cricket mascot and wrap it all up in a kitsch '50s classroom science video and you've got "Gravity". It's a charming imitation that makes those musty educational movies enjoyable. It's got a nice helping of adult wit, too; kinda sneaks up behind you. This short became a running gag at the Ohio Sci-Fi Marathon many years ago (hopefully, it still is), and Big Sister was even inducted into the Marathon Hall of Fame. All it takes is a bleary-eyed audience and a topless character is suddenly a meme.

Anyhoo, I just found this movie online (artifacts like these are why I love YouTube) and it brought back memories. It's definitely worth a watch and I enjoy this thing as an obscure piece of pop culture.

    Hilarious spoof!

A damn funny film from the 70s! I saw this at Boskone, the Boston Science Fiction Convention. It cracked me up. I can still hear the song: "There's a gravity...shooooorrrtage!" And I still remember the kid floating to the ceiling.

Now, if the producers would do a DVD or CD, maybe they could make some sales. It's easy to do with the right computer. Hint hint.

    • Trivia
Initial prints of this short film featured a scrolling cast list which credited performers Michelle Stacy as Mary Jane and Mitzi McCall as Mother. Later prints presented the cast in two still screens, with Mary Jane credited as "Herself" and Mother credited to "Lil Cocker." Most likely this was due to both actresses being members of SAG and the short's non-union status.
