    Ill Fares The Land

I have been searching for this film for about 10 years - it has never been released commercially on video or DVD But this year 2011 I have at last found who had a copy of this film. Scottish Television in Glasgow. I so wanted to see this film again as I have fond memories when it was first shown on Channel 4. The film features some breath taking cinematography and the production by Bill Bryden is fantastic. In the film you will see a very young David Hayman. It cost me £150 for a dub from their archive tape and to me I think its worth it. If you are interested contact STV footage Sales they will be more than happy to help.

    A top rate movie

This is one of the best films ever made. I once saw most of it on TV in the days before I owned a video recorder (~1984 I think). It was repeated soon after and I prepared to watch all of it second time round. However, I was surprised by the sudden appearance of visitors to my home and to my extreme horror, the woman asked to see the Eurovision Song Contest which was showing simultaneously on another channel. My rage at having to endure such total garbage as the Eurovision Song Contest over "Ill Fares The Land" was difficult to conceal. I consoled myself with a promise that I would record it next time round. Every week for more than twenty years, I have scanned the TV Times in expectation of the next showing of this film but it has never been screened since. I would love to know where I can purchase it on DVD.
