    Um...interesting...

This series struck me as odd...It took the basic ideas of the Original (And BEST) cartoon of the 80's, and transformed them into a more Saturday Morning version. What I mean is Gadget Boy is a small child (roughly 8-10 years old...whatever).Once again voiced by Don Adams, albeit a bit pre-pubescent sounding (which of course, was the best idea this show had; returning Adams to the role...eh...sort of). Heather is about in her early 20's and an official crime solver, (and Gadget Boy's official sidekick...As opposed to Penny, whom just snuck around behind the Inspector's back).I thought that the character WAS the original Penny at first, even looks as if Penny had grown up. (Hey, THAT would have been a great concept; Penny turning her snooping & meddling nature into her sworn duty.) This show even has a K-9 Companion, of course, how could it NOT. I remember Brain being one of the funniest characters on the old show. This dog is a much goofier version of Brain, with his own bumbling nature and accident proneness (is that a word?) ...But this time things are different. The Dog has the same enhancements as Gadget Boy himself! Every thing you can imagine (extending arms, roller blade paws, even a helicopter in his back, if I am correct). It's very interesting to see, and to imagine how Brain would have dealt with that, er, responsibility.

The Villain angle totally moves on from the M.A.D. organization, onto a newer, `more' sinister route (even though the villains are still ridiculously moronic...some things never change). Spidra, a fem-fatal (and hideous) creature with 6 arms runs the game now, with her pet, I believe a talking buzzard, by her side. (Almost like Deja-vous?) This series was ok...However; the most good that this show ever could do is making you nostalgic for the days of old.

I Believe, that if you get a chance to see this show, you should take it, watch it at least once...It's interesting...However, I recommend that you do not watch the "Gadget Boy's Adventures Through Time"...It's the same premise as THIS series, but it takes place about time travel, and saving old historians, and saving the lives of people that are forever in high school text books. (And now, my almost unrelated opinion)...NEVER make a NON-educational cartoon EDUCATIONAL!!! It RUINS the entire concept of the cartoon in question...I have no problems with "smart" TV, none at all, just keep it away from the stuff you watch when you DON'T want to watch "smart" TV...That's my mind, and you can't stop me...

    Clever indeed...

This show is well done, and I scarcely recall it, but it was, from what I can recall, quite good. It was about a character similar to (or perhaps the same, in the form of a youth) Inspector Gadget. Gadget Boy had an easily distinguished voice which sounded much like Inspector Gadget. The story is essentially about Gadget Boy and his friend's quest against the villainous antagonist Spidra who resembles nothing so much as a large, human-like spider and her talking vulture named Boris. The show was very fresh and new, during its time period and is generically fun, as well as being a somewhat newer concept. I recommend this show to the avid fans of early Saturday morning cartoons who specialize in somewhat obscure cartoons.

    So bad, that it's good.

This is a spin-off of the famous "Inspector Gadget" only this series differs from everyone's favorite animated inspector.

Gadget Boy resembles Inspector Gadget in a lot of levels. He's a foolish, hi-tech, determine, and clueless human like the Inspector himself. Only difference is he's a kid about 3 feet tall. He's accompanied by a young woman named Heather(who is based off of Penny's character), and a mechanical dog named G-9(a gadget robot version of Brain). All 3 of them make a great team in preventing chaos from occurring from the evil Spydra(a combination of Mudusa/a spider, completely opposite of Dr. Claw).

Throughout the series, Spydra tries to create world domination with the help of her cronies: Boris The Vulture and the twin henchmen: Mulch & Houmous. Whenever trouble occurs, Gadget Boy will always be there to stop Spydra's plans. With the help of Chief Strombolli(who's a lot like the other chief) and Myren Dabble, a scientist(who has a crush on Heather) providing our heroes 3 different gadgets that do come in handy within every episode.

Sadly this cartoon coexists in the animation world. And is highly unknown to most people. Probably because of the animation not being 100% perfect. As well as a variety of mistakes in animation, color, voice acting, & plot holes. But having THE voice of Inspector Gadget: Don Adams doing Gadget Boy, & Maurice LaMarche portraying various characters makes this cartoon worth watching.

It's not an entirely recommended cartoon for the Inspector Gadget fans. I mean if you think the movie has flaws to it, you won't believe you're eyes that this cartoon actually exists.

There's only like one DVD available for it so far. Don't know if DiC would ever consider in releasing the entire 26 episodes on a Box Set. Not when there's no big fan base for it. If I did this cartoon, I would of made sure that it be enjoyable for all fans a like.

    • Trivia
Tara Strong, who provided the voice of Agent Heather for both this and Gadget Boy, détective à travers le temps (1997), would go on to voice Penny in Inspector Gadget (2015).
    • Quotes

Spydra: [From intro] The world and its treasures shall belong to me, Spydra once I have eliminated Gadget Boy!

    • Alternate versions
After its initial showing, the series was renamed "Gadget Boy" and the theme song was redone with all references to Heather removed. Unfortunately, DiC doesn't seem to be interested in showing the original versions of the episodes anymore as all currently in syndication and on DVD use the new title and theme song.
