Ended up watching it all and wanted to see more and then I learned that...that's it! Which was too bad!
To be an 90s sci fi failed b tv movie series this was actually really good. And way better the like 99% of modern sci fi movies!
It had great visuals, the scenes props were great and man did the engineers and the soul monster look great!
Acting was also good for the most part and the characters enjoyable and I liked the warlord for having a heart but still a warlord.
Like said, too bad there wasn't more. This could have been an interesting trilogy.

Like all movies and stories, it has to start somewhere. There is a potential that some will like it and some will not. I for one really liked it. Although the baseline of the story has similarities from other shows, it had it's own uniqueness. What I disapprove of,is that they left it with the pilot instead of at least showing a few more episodes.
If you recall Star Trek (Original Series) also had similar issues - however the movie industry is really fresh out of ideas. The keep remaking the same movies over and over for example Spider Man, Superman, Peter Pan, War of the Worlds, Cape Fear, Bram Stokers Dracula, to name a couple.
The Warlord: Battle for the Galaxy has an opportunity to expand beyond Star Trek the Movies - with today's technology it would be Damn Cool! :) I say to the producers - Use Benedict Cumberbatch as Justin Thorpe, Emma Stone as Rula Kor, and John Pyper-Ferguson as Heenoc Xian.
Hell this movie can yield on returns at lease $1.2 Billion... There is a lot of potential.

I would like to make clear that it is very hard for a science fiction movie to dissapoint me but this one most certainly does. Although the box doesnt make it clear, this movie was designed to set the scene for a television series. The acting is below average and the plot is completely unorriginal. The opening scenes see a simple man loose his younger sister who happens to be a genius and then vowes to find her. There's nothing here you havent seen before and the ending might as well say "To Be Continued....". I dont recommend this movie to anyone who likes the science fiction genre.
Hello, saw this film and do not like it so much. Was a cheap film with cheap performance. The story is quite OK, but it seemed a bit strange to me.
Nice is, that one antagonist is not an one dimensional as it seems to be always.
Only the CGI was OK for me and the sister seemed very nice, she is so smart; love it.
But this film has no real ending for me. Because the film is short it looks, that they ran out of money.
Looks like a part 2 to come, but there is none ...

OK, the ending was rather disappointing because it was shot as a pilot, but i definitely would have watched the series. A nice mix from various Sci-Fi-Elements like the "Old General who served the Republic before" .... A advanced technological race who wants to "assimilate" the galaxy ....
I think if the characters had a little more time to develop it would have been interesting.
