Intimate Diary of Artists' Models (1963)
** 1/2 (out of 4)
This four-minute short would certainly have been forgotten had it not been for the efforts of Something Weird Video who included this on their THE DEFILERS/SCUM OF THE EARTH double feature. The film is basically about a photographer as we hear one of his models talk about how wonderful he is. Yeah, that's exactly what this film is about. That's what's being sold but of course the only thing here are the nude models who show off their breasts throughout the short running time. Is this film a lost masterpiece? Of course not but I think it's entertaining enough and at just four-minutes it works as something you could show your friends just to give them an example of what people were watching back in the 1960's if they wanted to see some nudity. The film was shot in color and actually looks much better than you'd expect.

In a screwy way this soft porn feature reminded me of those wonderful '30s musicals saluting Ziegfeld or Earl Carroll's Vanities, where beautiful women paraded around scantily clad. That's basically the content here, under the heading of how one became a figure model in the '60s.
Case in point is lovely Marie Perry, portraying herself, as a beauty contest winner who moved to Miami and had three bodacious roommates show her the ropes (no pun intended, please, this being an Irving Klaw production!). While we see dozens of fellow models disrobe for the camera, some suspense is generated by keeping Marie under wraps until the final reel, with a happy ending of her displaying the Playboy Magazine gate-fold shot that was the apex of her career.
Shot MOS with Perry's instructive voice-over, it's a pleasant if repetitive movie, made palatable by an amazing variety of female pulchritude. Among my favorites were: Sandy Sinclair as Habella Hopkins, boasting beautiful breasts and spectacular nipples that remind one of Alicyn Sterling in the '90s; Corky Diamond as roommate Greta, off the charts in terms of humongous mammaries; Maria Stinger, a busty beauty who appears in many nudies; sexy Christy Foushee, quite a pin-up; and Bunny Yeager, showing less skin but ultra-glamorous as an uncredited model who did lots of behind-the-scenes work on the film.
Something Weird used a beautiful color print for transferring this baby to video, so it is recommended on a technical basis. Fans of story films in this genre will be disappointed by its lack of interesting narrative.
P.S.: The latter review from Louisville's fount of misinformation states this is a 4- minute short based on him watching a bonus on DVD; it is in fact a full-length feature film. This jerk has submitted tens of thousands of "reviews" to IMDb but apparently never heard of the term "excerpt".
