    Roll Those Rs!

A homeless cat is taken in by "Lavish" McTavish and cuts a deal with the McTavish's sole mouse in hopes of receiving ever more lavish rewards.

This is a pretty good one-shot cartoon, which I attribute as largely due to Bob Clampett's input and to a good script by two old Termite Terrace hands. Clampett's hand is indicated by the over-the-top elements, particularly the ridiculous Scots accents assumed by the uncredited voice artist -- it takes five or ten seconds to get through each R that McTavish pronounces.

The cartoon's producers, Binder and Katz, had worked for Leon Schlesinger and knew how to get talent and leave them alone. However, Columbia was already going in a different direction with UPA.
