    Brilliant Gem of a film

Finally got round to watching this and was not dissapointed in the slightest. A bonefied cult classic of a film there's so much on offer here be that the cast which comprised of: Sean Patrick Flanery, Willem Dafoe, Billy Connolly or the now "A lister" Norman Reedus of Walking Dead fame, or even the fantastically stylish and well executed plot of the film it's highly enjoyable. Fitting of many of the films released around the turn of the millennium it possesses that flair and charm which the dawn of 2000 bought with it see for example Snatch which has a fairly similar 'look' to this film and certainly a common charm. The story is full of laughs, highs and lows, dramatic and fantastic action and a surprisingly decent twist which personally upon first viewing wasn't obvious so in all this is a hidden gem of a film that's certainly worth your time. I highly recommend

    A wonderful movie,

...albeit a little too proud of itself. I waited a long time before actually watching this film, then an ex-girlfriend loaned it to me telling me I wouldn't be disappointed. And I wasn't. Boondock Saints looks and feels like a fan film, and it is well done. The actors, I felt, were carefully chosen, did a wonderful job, and composed themselves well. The only real annoyances were Willem Dafoe's character being a know-it-all, and David Della Rocco who screams his head off throughout the whole movie. Its rare that a movie of this genre has a gratifying ending, and when the credits started rolling, I was a little sad that there wasn't more. This movie kept me entertained thoroughly, and I was happy that I finally watched it. For those who haven't seen it, sit back and enjoy the violent ride, for it's a fun one.

Somewhere between Tarantino and Ritchie lies Duffy

A fourth year film student with a chip on his/her shoulder will probably tell you that this film is simple, uninspired, derivative, gratuitous..... ignore him/her just like you always do and see this genuinely funny movie. It has an inspired performance by Willem Dafoe and enough new ideas to keep you glued. The social commentary should probably be looked at as more of a plot device than intelligent thought, but I found myself watching this movie repeatedly and enjoying it more the second and third time around. This is definitely a naughty pleasure for the movie enthusiast.

a whole new kind of comedy/action/crime drama

My son called me from Korea (Army Medic) to tell me that I had to see this movie. He brought it home with him on leave and we watched it together and he was absolutely right. It was "off the chain" as he says. It was so different from the standard fare that only substitutes different faces into the same tired story lines. We love it and I am now buying my own copy. I recommend it to any one that I know is a discriminating movie lover. I can't wait for the sequel. By the way , I'm a 43 year old mom of three so it's not just for 20 something males. Willem Dafoe was over the top but absolutely perfect for this movie. My husband hates movies and any TV that doesn't have a ball and a score, but he actually loved this movie too. It kept him on the edge of his seat and he actually laughed out loud several times.

    Solid and great action movie

Cool action scenes, good pacing and much funny entrateinment. A dark comedy in Irish world Willem dafoe does a good job on the acting and it has a decent soundtrack. I don't see why critics hate this movie.

    • Trivia
Sir Billy Connolly was so stoked to be playing against type in the role of Il Duce, and having so much fun playing a psycho with guns strapped all over him, that they had to add the large cigar the character incessantly smokes because unless they stuck something in his mouth, he simply couldn't stop smiling.
    • Goofs
When the bar fight scene begins the brothers are telling the Russians some phrases in Russian, which are translated in subtitles. Actually the words that they are saying not only don't respond to the translation, they are mostly made up and make no sense at all.
