A bank clerk and amateur private detective Albert Tuppura (Hannes Häyrinen) gets framed for the theft of the formula of a new explosive developed by a famous scientist (Santeri Karilo). He manages to flee and tries to prove his innocence while being chased by two inept cops (Uljas Kandolin and Heikki Savolainen). Helping him is his beautiful colleague Eila (Heidi Krohn), but the real crooks (Ville Salminen etc) aren't going to let anyone ruin their plans easily.
The comedy is largely based on changing disguises and the incompetence of the two detectives. That is amusing for a short while but towards the end the audience starts wishing for more jokes since the crooks' terrorist plan isn't interesting enough to lead the movie alone. Even so, Häyrinen is alright in his bumbling role and Heidi Krohn is lovely as Eila. Some of the visual shots of the old streets of Helsinki look good too, as do the starkly contrasted ending scenes. In the end, Paksunahka is silly nonsense entertainment; watchable, if nothing memorable.
