Iancu Jianu, haiducul

I first watched the two-part "Iancu Jianu" film series as a child in the 1980s, not long after their release. I didn't remember much, so I decided to rewatch them 45 years later. I was left with a very pleasant impression, perhaps also touched by childhood nostalgia.

As a story rooted in Romanian folklore, this film can be enjoyed anytime-even decades from now-by both local audiences and international viewers. It has a certain timeless quality, typical of well-made historical films. Its value will likely increase as time goes by.

Artistically, the two films are well crafted. The story is convincingly brought to life, and the performances are strong. Adrian Pintea delivers one of the best roles of his career.

the adventures from the first part continue. the break with his old world is total. justice becomes more important than personal happiness. romantic aura of hero has the perfect bright.the atmosphere from Haiducii series is mixed with crumbs of fairy tale. and one of the good points remains the presence of Emanoil Petruț in the role of Tudor Vladimirescu, as small reference to the film of Lucian Bratu from 1963.mixture of innocence - represented by Ionica , high cruelty of authorities,and the status of voice of the people for Iancu gives a seductive message and seems be refuge against political pressure. sure, it is only an illusion. the end reminds that in inspired manner - the songs about the courage of a shadow front with the bitter reality.heroism at high level. as a puzzle for who a lot of clichés are used.

romantic image of past. new adventures of hero. his moral duty against happiness. accuracy as minor detail. it is a a lesson of patriotism. like many other films from Comunist Romania. so, only fundamental virtue is performance of great actors. slices of atmosphere. and idyllic silhouette of Iancu - one of great roles for Adrian Pintea. like many movies, it is part of its time. and piece of a terrible fight against political command. today - axis of nostalgia, it was an impressive gun for subsistence of true value. form of European/ American adventures films, it is brick of present vision about national history, with many errors, exaggeration and crumbs of frustration. because, the history is today, like yesterday, object of sensitivity, toy of politic, food for patriotic feelings. so, this film is not exception. only, beautiful letter of its.
