A love story set in modern day Delhi with Mughal period characters.

Chadni Chowk is a love story played by Meena Kumari and Sekhar in primary roles. This is one of Meena Kumari's earlier films and she is portrayed very nicely as the young daughter of the Nawab Safdarjung played by Kumar. The story is mediocre and there is not much of romantic scenes involving the two characters. It is more of a story of Shekhar, the young Nawab who is married to Meena Kumari and his plight after his true identity was exposed. The film has some beautiful songs composed by music director Roshan. This is also a very early film made by renowned director B.R. Chopra who will come up with many memorable films in later years. I enjoyed Chadni Chowk very much as one of Meena Kumari's films and will give it a eight out of ten.

Hamen Raaston Ki Zaroorat Nahin Hai from Naram Garam.. Portions of the tune of this song were re-used by R.D. Burman in two other songs - the title song of "Agar Tum Na Hote" (1983) and "Saagar Kinare" ("Saagar", 1985). This song itself had other precursors in Bollywood - "Thandi Hawayen" ("Naujawan", 1951), "Tera Dil Kahan Hai" ("Chandni Chowk", 1954), "Yehi Hai Tamanna Tere Dar Ke Samne" ("Aap Ki Parchhaiyan", 1964) and "Rahen Na Rahen Hum" ("Mamta", 1966). "Nagma Hamara" ("Bandalbaaz,1976) "Kahan Tha Jo Tumne" from ("Pyaar Ka Taraana",1993)was also inspired from this song.
