I see a lot of similarities between Micheaux and D.W. Griffith, not only because Micheaux surfaced as a result of responding to Griffith's, 'The Birth of a Nation', but also because Griffith was better at adapting other people's work onto the screen than doing original pieces. This was an original piece by Micheaux which was a disaster. Stick to adaptations.
