Very deep and touching comedy reflecting zeitgeist.

I was surprised to see that someone is capable of expressing so many reflections of modern rush-times we live in, perplexed with everlasting questions of life, death, sense of life and everything. Frankly, I found scene with police officer ripping off pig's ear one of the most touching in history of motion pictures. Definitely worth watching.

The movie was originally set in present-day Croatia, but the Croatian Ministry of Interiors officials didn't like the script that ridiculed their force, so they refused to allow actors to wear police uniforms. The producers were forced to move the plot to the Communist era to get the old police uniforms.
