    An orange for Christmas

Fine MTV work depicting the life of a young schoolteacher just before WW1;it was screened on the 11th of November, what a symbol. The war breaks out at the end of the film, and all the young mean are leaving their country full of joy and enthusiasm...

Among them Pierre (Jean-Yves Berteloot, many users have seen in "the Da Vinci code" as Rémy Jean, the nasty chauffeur )He had become the schoolteacher's lover.

The school mistress had noticed how clever Pierre's sister was and she urged the family to help their daughter to continue her studies ,which was not obvious at a time they needed help on the farms. The twentieth century had just begun and most of the peasants did not believe in education.Besides,Jules Ferry's schools were Godless schools and most of the people thought they were nothing but heathen places.

The title:at the time ,and even after WW2,oranges were luxury modest people could only afford for Christmas in France.
