Pas de coup dur pour Johnny

The scheme is not really new. A former gangster who went away for a while comes back in his home town and has to deal another time with his former "associates". But in the mean time he becomes the friend of a young boy who dreams of acrobats and circus...We can find here something which looks like a sort of MONFLEET scheme, where the outlaw Granger befriended a young boy in such a manner that this story overwhelmed me. Mick Roussel is not Fritz Lang but this little underrated French noir drama, and I can say crime flick, deserves to be seen. It's available in DVD, so you can easily get it. OK, it's not cliché ridden but you will enjoy it anyway. One more thing, if you enjoy circus atmosphere, you will be pleased too. I also thought of another little French crime movie which took place in circus: JUSQU'AU DERNIER. This film is highly inspired from the American film noir, but the Armand Mestral singing sequences are corny for such a noir atmosphere, not at their place. Even the title is lousy, so typical from this era. It looks like a Peter Cheney or James Hadley Chase's novel title.
