The 14 year vacation Glen speaks of in this concert has done nothing to dampen their spirits or their quality of music. Collectively their voices are just as strong now as they were in the mid 70's. This concert has captured all the magic that was and still is The Eagles. From the moment they hit the stage, the audience is kept spellbound as you will be when you see this. I would have liked to have seen this concert in its entirety but not withstanding that this is an excellent addition to anyones' music collection. For those wanting to buy a DTS or 5.1 surround sound system this DVD also has a side benefit in that it is perfect for what Digital Theatre Surround should sound like. For me, this is a 10 but then I am a fan.
After a 14-yr 'vacation', the Eagles were ready to Rock'n'Roll, and that is what they did. The BEST rock concert I've ever seen after Pink Floyd P.U.L.S.E, and I've seen over two hundred of them. It represents the peak of their musical playing ability, and the quality of the AV is awesome! Every one of the Eagles coordinate to perfection. Henley's and Schmit's vocals are just amazing. The best thing is that the Eagles keep changing their instruments, in one song, Frey is playing the guitar, in the next song, he's playing the piano... that just proves the Eagles not just their own instrument players, but real musicians! The mood changes so fast, yet it takes you along with it. Hotel California and Heart Of the Matter represents the acoustic genius of the Eagles, I Can't Tell You Why and Desperado show us their soft side, Girl From Yesterday and Tequila Sunrise show their country spirit, while Life In The Fast Lane and Get Over It shows us that they can rock hard as well! EAGLES ROCK!
Very enjoyable Eagles concert, featuring many of their greatest hits, such as "Hotel California", "Life in the Fast Lane", and "Take it Easy". The opening documentary is interesting, but not very informative. My only complaint is that the concert isn't shown in it's entirety as it was performed, as several of the songs are presented out of sequence. So instead of getting an actual feeling of "being there", it feels more like watching a series of music videos. Still, the material holds up and still sounds great. My rating: 8 out of 10.

This is one of the most outstanding concerts I have ever seen. One of the notable attributes of these artists is their versatility on different instruments. Looking at the lead in of the DVD we got the opportunity to see them key up the supporting musicians and literally find the off key instrument in the score. What an outstanding group of men. Is there a biography for the Eagles as a group? I think I saw another Eagle that Timothy B. Schmit replaced. I saw this when they were inducted into the Hall Of Fame. The new songs they developed, continue to show that these artists are not out of the main stream of the industry. Their popularity still soars with the EAGLES. Their voices are strong, in tune, and a virtual heaven sent talent.
I'm a 22 yr. old who has been an Eagles fan since my dad first played Hotel California for me on vinyl, and this, quite simply, was absolutely fantastic! Whenever I need a lift, I listen to "The Heart of the Matter" or "Life in the Fast Lane." This was, in fact, the most incredible music DVD I've ever seen. Glenn Frey, the black-haired centerpiece who sings lead on "Take it Easy" and "Tequila Sunrise" seems to be in the lead here, which suits Don Henley, the gravelly-voiced drummer/lead singer from Texas, (whose vocals leave an impression on all those lucky enough to partake)just fine. My personal favorite moments are those between Don Felder and Joe Walsh, the two guitar players to our right (Frey's left), who seem to be the two guys most in love with the music. Although Felder has since been fired and the Eagles aren't quite the instrumental tour-de-force they once were, this DVD represents the last peak for an iconic band, much like Queen at the first Live-Aid. In my opinion, Hell Freezes Over is a slice of Heaven.

Don Henley: [before starting "The Heart of the Matter"] Thank you. This next tune is a tune off my last solo album.
[crowd cheers]
Don Henley: Wrote this Mr. Mike Campbell and our good friend J. D. Souther. Who, as you know, wrote a lot of the Eagles tunes with us. It took, uh, 42 years to write and about 4 minutes to sing, so...
