Cry for Cindy

The titular Cindy (Amber Hunt) is a high class call girl who got in the business to put her boyfriend through medical school since hairdressing under her real name of Anna wasn't doing it. When her boyfriend shows up at her pimps apartment and finds her, the pimp beats him up and Cindy breaks into hysterics, ending with her committing suicide. The various people on her funeral remember her life. Horrible theme song, an uninvolved story and sex scenes that are nothing to really talk about make this far from the classic that Director would later achieve with both "Vista Valley P.T.A" and "Talk Dirty to Me". But that's only natural of course, since Amber Hunt is NO Jessie St. James.

Cry for Cindy (1976)

Director Anthony Spinelli tackles the oldest profession in the world in this widely-seen hardcore film. Cindy (Amber Hunt) is talked into prostitution and decides to stick with it since the money is so good and she's helping her man get through medical school. After the boyfriend finds out he's violently beaten by Cindy's pimp and soon after she kills herself. At the funeral the people closest to her remembers what she was like.

CRY FOR CINDY was apparently a very big hit back in the day but it's a little confusing to see why. If you're just wanting a non-stop sex movie then it's best that you stay away from this thing as Spinelli once again tries to make a downright serious drama with the sex being in the background and not being the main focus. For the most part the film has enough interesting and good moments to make it worth watching but I think it falls well short of being a good movie.

Once again what impressed me the most was the direction by Spinelli. You can tell that he was interested in telling a real story about a real woman with real problems. All of that is fine but the problem is that the screenplay really isn't all that interesting and neither is the lead. I thought the main character was rather boring and there wasn't anything in the screenplay that made you care for the character. Even the structure of the film was a little off.

Hunt is at least good in the role and there's no doubt that fans of hers will enjoy seeing her in her first role. The rest of the cast is rather hit and miss. The sex scenes really aren't anything special as they fall well short of being erotic or even all that interesting.

"Cry For Cindy" is far from being a great porn movie but it is certainly worth watching. This was made in 1976 and was one of Amber Hunt's of Candystriper's fame first feature. The movie itself suffers from taking itself way to seriously which makes this a very unintentionally hillarious porno movie. The sex is frequent and even hot however it too suffers from the 70's style of ungroomed body hair , now I know pubic hair in the 70's was seen as fashionable but it looks absolutly uncleaned and disgusting on the females in this movie that it ends up not being very pleasing to the eye.

Amber Hunt is a prostitute working tricks to pay for her boyfriends medical school , she starts out timid and afraid but learns to love her work and then something tragic happens to Cindy and her friends and lovers recall her past....a very odd one and certainly not the best from the golden age but worth a look
