Starf*cker , what i thought it was called Starstruck. Oh well it was an ok film i guess but on the other hand it wasnt. Loren Dean has what it takes to became a great headlining actor. His role in this film however is not going to be the one to get him there. This film was somewhat funny but other then that there wasnt much to it. I would not recommend this film to anyone unless they like stupid, very stupid humour.
Starstruck is an always engaging, endearingly awkward, and ultimately quite funny screwball nineties comedy masquerading as a much darker movie than it is capable of being. Jamie Kennedy, fresh off of Scream, does a respectable job as the anti-leading man, George Gordon, due to his amusingly overconfident portrayal of the character, which, to be fair, is ill-conceived and lacks depth. As characters go, it is Loren Dean who is given the most to work with. He chews the scenery as washed-up and strung-out actor Kyle Carey, the second lead and facilitator of the, for better AND worse, simplistic plot. Fortunately, the cast is damn good, all acting harmoniously with a satirical edge, and the leads have natural comic timing and chemistry. Additionally, the third act, which plays like a Martin McDonagh crime caper involving the stealing of Faye Dunaway's dog, is, albeit forced, a highlight of hilarious proportions. Overall, there is an amateurish air to the proceedings, but chances are, if you are a nineties brat with a rude sense of humor, you will, at the very least, get a kick out of Starstruck.
The acting may be okay, the more u watch this movie, the more u wish you weren't, this movie is so horrible, that if I could get a hold of every copy, I would burn them all and not look back, this movie is terrible!!
Starfucker (which reads Starstruck on my box) was the most amazing movie I have ever seen. I thought that it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. So why not a 10? Nothing is perfect. Jamie Kennedy proves why he is one of my favorite actors in this very interesting look at a darker side of Hollywood. I have forced a few others to watch the movie and they all agreed that it was an outstanding flick.
The version I saw of this film was the Blockbuster rental with a similar title, but a swear word in it.
This film was funny as hell. It was also true to the bone. If you have ever spent time in Hollywood or the area around it, you will understand the humor. If not, you may not 'get it' at all.
The story of two people in the business struggling to make it until they finally reach a breaking point, it is a rare gem. It states it is a drama, but it is a drama as much as Deer Hunter is a comedy.
Loren Dean is wonderful, as always, as a supporting actor. Jamie Kennedy was able to hold his own well. His performance is especically impressive during the poodle scene. The only downside was Carmen Electra but we can't have everything.
