    Oh come on now...

Although Spike Drink Gang may not be the greatest Hong Kong movie of all time, I feel it needs to be addressed that most of the other reviews on here are laughably over the top.

For people who are expecting to see another Untold Story or Ebola Syndrome, SDG would be a big let down. However if you have been lucky enough to explore the many other titles floating around in the Cat 3 (and Cat 2) world then you will be more accustomed to the style that SDG has to offer.

More along the lines of Trust Me You Die, Special Silencers and maybe to a certain degree, Robotrix, SDG has no intention of filling the screen with gore and dismemberment.

Instead the film plays out a rather disturbing tale that, if the viewer stops to contemplate, is really a rather frightening idea. As with many HK (Cat 2/3) films there's a heavy dose of comedy thrown in to the mix. Like hundreds of other films from the genre, the comedy sits very uncomfortably with the subject matter. It's not something that many people would choose to endure as entertainment and is something that's barely ever found in movies made in the West, however for fans of the extreme style of HK film making, SDG will be much the same as any other title.

SDG is best viewed as an entertainment piece and nothing more. If you have little to no morals regarding film and like your films with a dash of filth then you could do a lot worse. Every now and again there are various 'WTF' moments that make you stand up and take notice. They may not be anything you'll be telling your grandkids about in 40 years time but they do remind you that films like this will simply never make it in to your local Cineplex, and that's why we love 'em, right?

Not the complete shambles some would have you believe, it's a fun, quirky way to spend 90 minutes.

    My Head Hurts...

My head hurts not from spiked drinks, but from watching this complete junk!

This movie has no plot, no dialogue, no acting, and even no gratuituous nude scenes for a category III movie. A complete disappointment.

A 0/10. I wish I can get my last 2 hours of my life back.

Ugh!! What an utterly bad movie!

"Spike Drink Gang" has no redeeming values. It doesn't have any reason to exist. First, it's hard to say what it actually is. A comedy? A shocker? Trash? Well, it fails on every level. Why did it get the category-III-rating? No idea since it doesn't feature blood or sex. It's the story of a gang that fills drinks with ether and then intercepts the customers to get their credit card codes once the ether starts making the victims dizzy. One of the victims is the wife of butcher Tsui - who gets robbed $300 000. But Tsui has a much bigger problem: Has his wife also been raped by the gang?

That butcher is intended as comic relief, but all the humor that results from him is of the lowest kind. And I really mean low. The whole movie is filled with stupid jokes. Believe me, this is the worst kind of humor! I've seen a lot of movies in my life and I can spot at least *some* nice thing in every movie. There's no such thing here. It's even too boring for trash.

Well, now that I think about it, it's even a complete waste of time to rip the movie apart. So I just say "Stay away from this crap. It's really a terrible, terrible movie. You've been warned."
