            ramyah!!! criminaly good

One of the best copies bolluwood has made even with nagarjuna in it and even if directed by Bhatt. This movie is ïnspired"by The Fugitive"(like most Bhatt movies this is a copy). Nagarjuna is Harrisson Ford who is framed for the murder of his wife (Manisha Koirala). because this movie has to be approx. 3 hrs, the love story of how Nags and Manisha met and fell in love is also woven in the film. But since it is Manisha Koirala and the flashback has the sexy Ramyah Kishnan also in it, it is good. By the way Ramyah is a cop on the trail of Harrissson, oops, nagarjuna who was once in love with him but sacrificed her love for her friend Manisha. I know it sounds crappy but the film isactually good. Gulshan Grover is also in it. If i am not mistaken than Ajit (Loin) is also in the movie in the Jeroen Krabbe role.

Horrible rehash of the classic The Fugitive

Criminal is another disastrous movie from one of the greatest copycats of Bollywood- Mukesh Bhatt.

But even replicating most of the scenes from the classic Hollywood flick, The Fugitive couldn't save this film.

The plot is badly handled with lots of unnecessary song and dance. What was the most irritating part was that Criminal contains two heroines. In the original, the plot was based only on the hero and his run from the law till he proves himself innocent. The heroines do nothing substantial for the film. Manisha Koirala was only effective in her last two scenes. But the whole love angle between her and Nagarjuna where she tries to seduce the hero to make him fall in love with her was so irritating. Ramya Krishnan plays the role of a cop but be aware of the fact that she's just a sidekick to Nassar. The role of Tommy Lee Jones in the original is played by Nassar and he was good but again, it's a deja vu kind of thing if you already watched the Fugitive.

The hero, Nagarjuna was terrible. He looked lost and uninterested in front of the camera. He lacks the charm of the charismatic Harrison Ford.

The songs were very displeasing to the ears. 'Tum Mile Dil Khile' is likable in parts but the rest of the songs are horrible.

On the whole, a horrible movie from the Bhatt camp. Avoid!

Decent thriller with good music and acting, but more of bollywood style.

For starters, this is a copy of the 1993 Harrison Ford/Tommy Lee Jones starer Fugitive.

The plot is basically the same, the first half drags on with the love story which is made unnecessarily boring with a triangle sub-plot and some typical couple dance numbers.

the movie gains pace in the second half, and the acting by Nagarjuna/Ramya is quite good. Background score is super and haunting and personally my favourite part of the movie.

Overall, its a decent flick.. Fugitive thriller plot + bollywood mirch masala of love triangle and songs.

Tu mile song and gulshan grover's menacing screen presence

Criminal released in 1994 , an adaptation of Hollywood movie the fugitive, is a good thriller. Still lots of scope was there to make the movie effective as compared to the original but some parts of the movie is interesting.

            Direction, screenplay is okay.

Music is good specially the song Tu mile.

Performances are convincing, specially veteran actor gulshan grover as Robert. His non verbal role leaves a mark. Just with his body language he creates menace. Hats off Mr grover.

Story is good, scenes are well connected.

            Action is good.

            Lights ,situation, locales well handled.

            In nutshell a good film.

Bhatt is the Criminal for making this...

With Nagarjuna and Koirala in the lead, I was expecting a decent movie. This, unfortunately, was quite bad. Not surprisingly, it sank without a trace at the box office in 1995, despite the star-studded cast.

It's supposed to be a remake of the Fugitive, but did Bhatt even watch the original before supposedly "re-making" it? As with his other films, Bhatt takes a reasonably good story and uses his "magic" to destroy it.

The songs are interspersed at random places in the movie, and, as is usual with Bhatt films, there is always the unnecessary sexuality. Nagarjuna's acting skills are not quite up to the par, and he looks rather tired and old, even beyond whatever is required by his role.

The soundtrack still sounds pretty good, however, but is not quite good enough to redeem the movie.

There are ample of loop holes in the court case against Ajay. In real life there would be no way the case could fetch him a death sentence.

              1. Cause of Death: Shweta's postmortem report should have revealed that she died of injuries on her head. This should have forced police to look for murder weapon and a simple search of the house should have got them the rod used to attack Shweta. 2. Murder Weapon: Robert used a rod to attack Shweta. After altercation with Ajay Robert left in a hurry and leaves the rod in the house. Police should have founds the rod with Robert's fingerprints on it. Since during the altercation Ajay never touches the rod, it should only have Robert's fingerprints. 3. Watchman's testimony: Watchmen had mistaken Ajay giving CPR for strangling Shweta. Her postmortem report should have confirmed that she died of head injuries and not strangling. This should nullify watchman's testimony. 4. Phone recording: The phone recording should have recorded altercation between Ajay and Robert and also Ajay's attempt to revive Shweta. 5. Shweta's Property: Police's accusation Ajay of killing Shweta for money would not stand in court. Shweta had already transferred her property to Ajay beforehand. Ajay did not have to kill Shweta for her money as her being alive or dead would have no consequences on the property. Also Ajay himself was from a wealthy family. 6. Death sentence is rare: Even if every evidence was overlooked court still would not have given death sentence to Ajay. Such extreme sentences are given for very brutal murders and to hard core criminals.
