Good cast in a farm country fatal Attraction

One thing that is hard to accept is that someone as pretty as Courtney Thorne Smith would throw themselves after a man like that. Other than that it's quite a watchable movie. A beauty queen Miss Dairy something sets her sights on a farmer. But he has a Girlfriend. Even though she briefly steals him away he goes back to his old girlfriend. So the pretty wacko gets homicidal.

Courtney is great over the top wacko. Worth a watch.

    Based on a true story

I will have to check my "archives" at home, but I am sure I have a magazine with an article about this murder and situation. I don't remember the names of the people involved, as the movie may have changed them, but I believe it may have happened in Northern Wisconsin in the 1980's. The magazine had a picture of the obsessed female, a brunette, on its cover, and other pictures inside of the young man and deceased female's family. The three belonged to Future Farmers of America or a similar club, if I remember correctly.

Unfortunately, I only saw the last 15 minutes of this movie and cannot comment on the quality of it, yet with Tracey Gold, Kyle Secor, and Courtney Thorne-Smith as the leads, I am sure it is worth watching.

    `Fatal Attraction' in a Farm

Kevin Reese (Kyle Secor) is a simple and good man in love with Beth (Tracey Gold). He fights to pay the debts left by his father and recover the family's farm from the bank. One day, he helps Cheryl (Courtney Thorne-Smith), a beautiful and deranged girl elected the `princess of the lactic'. Cheryl develops an obsessive passion for Kevin, and tries everything to be with him, transforming Kevin and Beth's lives in `hell on earth'. In the introduction of this film, the viewer is informed that this story is based on a true fact. Courtney Thorne-Smith is really gorgeous and has a great performance, but the story is very common and does not bring any surprise. My vote is six.

Title (Brazil): `Obsessão Fatal' (`Fatal Obsession')

    poor Kyle Secor...

I was watching TV, wishing in vain for Homicide: Life on the Street to be on. Instead, I stumbled upon this movie and found Homicide's Kyle Secor in this LAME TV-movie-of-the-week-type flick about a female stalker. I was glad to watch Kyle because he's great in whatever he does, but I was so sad that he was stuck in such a STUPID "movie." I knew what everyone's next moves were going to be and I really couldn't stand it. It's hard to like anyone here (w/ the exception of Kyle). He deserves a new TV show and/or a few independent movie projects. What a great actor, but what a trite movie. If you want to see some blistering acting, watch reruns of H:LOTS.

Courtney Thorne-Smith is intoxicating -- and SCARY (!) in this very well-made, absorbing tale.

Courtney makes this above-average TV drama truly riveting with an alarmingly convincing portrayal of a beautiful psychopath. Wow! Thanks to you, Courtney, I may never date a beautiful woman again.

    • Trivia
While much artistic license was taken in the making of this movie, it is based on the 1989 murder of Lisa Cihaski in Wausau, Wisconsin by 20-year old Lori Esker. Esker's boyfriend, Bill Buss, broke off his relationship with her and began dating Cihaski and they became engaged. Esker left school one night, drove 150 miles to Cihaski's workplace, and strangled her with a belt--Cihaski's own belt. Esker removed Cihaski's engagement ring from her finger and drove back to school in River Falls. Esker pleaded self defense, but the act of strangulation showed intent. She was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in 1990. As in the movie, Esker was the Dairy Princess; Cihaski was a former Homecoming Queen.
