Street Fighter : L'Ultime Combat

10 amazing performers who need to be cast in the upcoming Street Fighter project
Image
The only time there’s been a good Street Fighter project has been the animated movies. The cartoon TV series was mediocre at best, and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li was lacking. The 1994 film is fun, and Raúl Juliá was great. However, no one is watching that project for “absolute cinema.” Thankfully, the trend of unwatchable Street Fighter movies could come to an end.

Halo, Super Mario Bros, and The Last of Us proved that video game movies and shows can be good. All that’s needed is the right creative team and cast. Roman Reigns and Jason Momoa being rumored is a step in the right direction. Now all that’s needed are the characters to be properly cast. Here’s who should be picked to make sure this movie is a success.

Roman Reigns became one of the greatest professional wrestlers...

The Live-Action Jungle Book Remake That Everyone Forgot About
Image
Rudyard Kipling first published his novel "The Jungle Book" in 1894, and its sequel, "The Second Jungle Book," the following year. The books followed the adventures of a boy named Mowgli, a five-year-old who becomes lost in the jungles of India and who is taken in and raised by the local wildlife. He is taught the ways of the jungle, mostly by a benevolent panther named Bagheera. He also is given some more raucous advice from a bear named Baloo, and is taught to be wary of the vicious tiger, Shere Khan.

Most schoolchildren have read one or both of Kipling's "Jungle Book" novels, and it has been adapted to film multiple times. Director Zoltan Korda directed a rather fine 1946 Technicolor version, although more popular to today's audiences is the 1967 animated film directed by Wolfgang Reitherman. Walt Disney was credited as a producer, but he died shortly before "The Jungle Book" was released,...

Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and ‘A Better Tomorrow’: AI-Powered Kung Fu Film Plan Debuts in Shanghai
Image
Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee and Jet Li may soon return to global screens in digitally resurrected form.

At the 27th Shanghai International Film Festival, the China Film Foundation and partners launched two major AI-driven initiatives under the Kung Fu Film Heritage Project: a large-scale effort to restore 100 classic martial arts films using artificial intelligence, and the unveiling of a brand-new animated feature, “A Better Tomorrow: Cyber Border,” billed as the world’s first fully AI-produced animated feature film.

The restoration project aims to digitally remaster 100 landmark kung fu films, using AI to enhance image, sound, and overall production quality while preserving the storytelling and aesthetic of the originals. Organizers described it as a long-term commitment to reviving the cultural and cinematic legacy of Chinese martial arts cinema.

“From Bruce Lee to Jackie Chan, from ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ to ‘Wolf Warrior,’ these films have shown the world the vitality and spirit of the Chinese people,...

‘21 Jump Street’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
It’s been over a decade since 21 Jump Street turned undercover high school chaos into pure comedy gold. Honestly, who can even forget Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as the world’s least discreet “teenagers”, busting drug rings while failing gym class? This 2012 reboot took a ridiculous premise, cranked it to 11, and gave us ice cube glares, nonstop laughs, and a prom shootout for the ages.

Though Schmidt and Jenko have long since graduated, the cast didn’t exactly disappear into detention. Nope. In fact, they’ve been busier than ever, snagging Oscar nominations, directing surprise hits, dropping rap albums, and even returning to superhero land.

Whether they played bad-boy dealers, science nerds, or deadpan police captains, the 21 Jump Street crew has had one wild post-grad journey. So, let’s grab the notebooks and fake IDs, because we’re going to see what the iconic cast is up to in 2025, and yes,...

Street Fighter: Walton Goggins Reportedly In Talks To Play The Villainous M. Bison
Image
After losing its original directors, Legendary and Capcom's live-action Street Fighter reboot is moving forward with Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) at the helm, and the casting process recently got underway.

Now, Jeff Sneider is reporting that the movie is looking to add some more star power in the form of Walton Goggins, who is in talks to play the villainous leader of Shadaloo, M. Bison. Singer Orville Peck is also on board as blade-handed narcissist Vega, and comedian Eric André will play "the loud-mouthed ring announcer who hypes up the crowd."

Goggins has numerous film and TV roles on his résumé, but has been garnering more mainstream acclaim and attention thanks to recent roles in Fallout and season 3 of The White Lotus (and let's not forget about Uncle Baby Billy from The Righteous Gemstones).

Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo have reportedly closed their deals to play the co-lead roles of Ryu and Ken,...

However, learning that the Otc earned only $15 million annually was hard to believe. Luckily, Hugo Savinovich explained his contract, which still makes the WWE star’s earnings feel like a modest sum, from the fans’ perspective.

Image
White Lotus and Fallout star Walton Goggins is reportedly in talks to play M Bison, the main villain in the forthcoming Street Fighter movie.

Following his recent turn in the third season of The White Lotus is rightly being lauded for being the wonderful actor that he’s always been. We’re also reliably informed that lots of people are enjoying looking at pictures of him online that he posts too, so why not leverage that increased level of exposure to get a part in a big studio movie where he can steal every scene that he’s in?

That’s certainly our prediction for how things will turn out should a report from The InSneider prove to be accurate. According to the outlet, Goggins is in negotiations to play M Bison, the Street Fighter series’ big bad, the kind of sneering villain who wears a cloak just so you...

Andy Samberg and Jason Momoa are joining forces for an action comedy film at Netflix
Jack Black
After building a rock-solid franchise foundation alongside Jack Black in A Minecraft Movie, Jason Momoa will join forces with Andy Samberg for an untitled action comedy film at Netflix. Details about the project remain scarce, though Deadline says the film’s events unfold in Hawaii.

In addition to starring in the movie, Andy Samberg’s Party Over Here and Jason Momoa’s On the Roam studios will produce. The untitled action comedy does not have a director yet. However, 11x Emmy nominee Rob Klein and eight-time nominee John Solomon are writing the script.

A Classic Video Game Inspired One Of Black Mirror's Most Underrated Episodes
Image
Season 5 of "Black Mirror" is rarely ranked among the show's best, but it does contain at least one underrated gem: "Striking Vipers." That's the videogame episode where two seemingly-straight guys accidentally end up having a digital affair. This episode takes a cue from previous standout episodes like "The Entire History of You," in that it understands that it's not enough to just have a cool sci-fi premise; you also have to have a compelling character journey that feels real regardless of whatever social critique you're trying to make.

In "Striking Vipers," the messy relationship between Danny (Anthony Mackie) and Karl (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) is so awkward and riveting that you can easily forget a major hole in the episode's sci-fi premise: why would a VR fighting game come with a hyper-realistic sex option programmed into it? Showrunner Charlie Brooker has no real answer to this question, but he did at...

Marvel and DC Comics' crossover is a moment decades in the making
Image
It’s been over 20 years since Marvel and DC Comics did a crossover. The last time it happened was 2003 in the Jla/Avengers. Before that, it was DC vs. Marvel, which had matches like Wolverine vs. Lobo, Superman vs. Hulk, and Captain America vs. Batman. After so long, both companies have decided to collaborate again in an event that no one saw coming. It’ll be the “Merc With A Mouth” Deadpool and “The Dark Knight” Batman.

The recently-announced crossover titled Deadpool/Batman will be written by Zeb Wells (Amazing Spider-Man and Deadpool and Wolverine) with art by Greg Capullo (Batman and Wolverine: Revenge). Together, they’ll create a one-shot where Wade Wilson is on a job that sends him to Gotham City. And, shocking to no one, Batman doesn't have the patience for Wade's shenanigans. However, according to Marvel.com, thanks to The Joker, the two will team up to stop him.

'Bring Her Back' Directors Discuss Action-Packed Future After Exiting 'Street Fighter'
Image
The live-action Street Fighter film that's in the works at Legendary seems to finally be moving forward, with word coming recently that Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and WWE superstar Roman Reigns are in talks to lead the new video game adaptation. While it's set to be directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), there was a time when Danny and Michael Philippou were ready to helm the project, and now, the directors of Talk to Me and Bring Her Back are explaining what their version may have looked like, and why they exited the film.

Speaking with MovieWeb's own George Edelman about their new horror flick, the subject of Street Fighter came up. Though there was a version of the Capcom video game brought to life in 1994 by Universal starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Raúl Juliá, Legendary acquired the rights in 2023 and have been trying to get a new...

Critically Acclaimed Directors Explain Why They Left The Street Fighter Live-Action Movie
Image
Two critically acclaimed directors explain why they left the live-action Street Fighter movie. In April 2023, it was announced that Legendary was developing a movie adaptation of the Capcom video game franchise with Danny and Michael Philippou, fresh off their successful debut Talk to Me, in talks to direct, though they eventually dropped out and were replaced by Kitao Sakurai. Recently, it was reported that the Street Fighter movie is in talks with Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and Roman Reigns to star.

Now, during a recent appearance on The Discourse podcast (via The Playlist), Danny and Michael Philippou explained why they left the Street Fighter movie. The directors revealed that they departed solely due to scheduling conflicts, despite their excitement and strong interest in the project. Danny Philippou emphasized the difficulty of the decision, while Michael Philippou compared their lingering attachment to the project to the emotional pull of an ex-girlfriend.

Why the Philippou Brothers made Bring Her Back, not Talk To Me 2
Image
Bring Her Back arrives in US cinemas this week, and the Philippou Brothers have been discussing why they made that, not Talk To Me 2.

This week sees the US release of one of this year’s most anticipated horror films, A24’s Bring Her Back, directed by the Philippou Brothers, helmers of 2022’s breakout horror hit, Talk To Me. The latter film not only created a huge buzz upon release, it capitalised on that momentum to become A24’s second highest-grossing horror film ever, just behind Ari Aster’s Hereditary.

Considering Talk To Me's reported production budget was just $4m, the film’s financial performance wouldn’t just earn them a sequel opportunity at A24, but also a degree of carte blanche as to future projects, allowing the duo to instead pursue an entirely different project.

“When we submitted Bring Her Back to some of the funding places, they...

Street Fighter Movie: Biggest Reason Why Braun Strowman Will Struggle as Zangief but Roman Reigns Won’t as Akuma
Image
Despite Capcom’s iconic video game already having turned into a movie in 1994, it deserved another chance in the film industry thanks to the unfortunate adaptation. Luckily, Legendary Entertainment is here to do just that. Street Fighter is all set to get its live-action adaptation in the coming days, and hopefully, they’ll get it right this time.

While nothing has been confirmed, there are reports floating around the Internet that are taking our excitement to the next level. Fans are also giving their two cents on who should star in the movie, including pro-wrestler Braun Strowman. If he does get the role that he’s being lobbied for, it might be a little difficult for him to pull it off, solely for one reason.

Danny and Michael Philippou Explain Why They Made ‘Bring Her Back’ Before One of Their Two ‘Talk to Me 2’ Scripts
Image
Danny and Michael Philippou had no shortage of opportunities coming out of 2023’s Talk to Me. Their feature directorial debut achieved critical and commercial success, grossing nearly $92 million against a $4.25 million budget. The former YouTubers behind RackaRacka not only received compliments from industry heavyweights such as Peter Jackson, Jordan Peele and Ari Aster, but they also booked general meetings all over town, including one with Marvel Studios. Thus, the question of how to follow up their smash hit became even more consequential.

At the time of Talk to Me’s July 2023 release, the Australian twin brothers were already attached to a new take on the Street Fighter video game, but then they quickly signed on the dotted line for a Talk to Me sequel known as Talk 2 Me. However, an existing horror script of theirs called Bring Her Back soon began to gnaw at them. Knowing that Talk to...

5 Reasons Why I’m Excited for Jason Momoa’s New Show ‘Chief of War’ on Apple TV+
Image
Jason Momoa is ready for his new Apple TV+ show, Chief of War, and his fans can’t wait to see him in this groundbreakingly historic show. It’s a nine-episode drama series and premieres on August 1, 2025. The show delves into the deep history of the Hawaiian islands, the late 18th-century unification, offering the true story from the indigenous point of view.

Momoa was the obvious choice for this part, as he is deeply connected to his native Hawaiian roots. He plays the role of the warrior Kaʻiana. He is also the co-writer and co-creator of the series. The cast is mostly Polynesian, and the show has been filmed both in Hawaii and New Zealand, in an attempt to provide the most authentic depiction of the culture and history of Hawaii.

Features the voices of: Chris Wood, Mark Hamill, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Liam Cunningham, Lena Headey, Melissa Benoist, William Shatner, Meg Foster, Keith David | Created by Kevin Smith | Directed by Adam Conarroe, Patrick Stannard

If you were a kid of the 1980s your childhood was filled with some of the most amazing cartoon adventures in history. I’m talking about The Transformers, ThunderCats, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and G.I. Joe. But there is one we did not list there, which was He-Man and The Masters of the Universe.

Now we have seen reboots and live-action films. But that was quite a few years ago. For many, many years, we had heard rumours of movies and new series, but all those came to nothing. That is, until Netflix and Kevin Smith joined forces to bring us a ‘sequel’ to the original classic with Masters of the Universe Revelation + Revolution, featuring two epic story arcs.

Roman Reigns’ Best Movie Before Street Fighter Also Had Becky Lynch in It, But It Couldn’t Deliver as Promised

Not only that, Reigns has slowly begun to transition into mainstream Hollywood projects. The latest word hints at Reigns being in talks for a role in the live version of Street Fighter. However, many might have forgotten that one of his top movies before that also featured fellow megastar Becky Lynch, but failed to deliver to the expectations.

Jason Momoa is pouring everything into his new historical epic Chief of War
Image
Jason Momoa is easily one of the most successful actors to come out of Game of Thrones; his only real competition is Pedro Pascal. Just recently, Momoa appeared in A Minecraft Movie, which has made nearly a billion dollars at the box office. Talking to GQ, he quipped that he'd "saved cinema" with that movie. What to do with his newfound credibility?

Momoa has turned towards Chief of War, a historical epic set on the Hawaiian islands in the late 18th century, before they'd been colonized by Western nations. Momoa plays Ka'iana, a real-life historical figure who "tries to unify the islands, according to the official description.

The miniseries is coming out in just a couple months. A teaser trailer dropped the other day, and it looks properly epic:

Apparently, the show starts with Momoa's character lassoing a shark and riding it around like it's a wild horse, which I...

Roman Reigns‘ Tribal Chief in WWE is the head of the table. Since 2020, he has gone from a divisive character to someone with the commanding ability to be the babyface, empowered to lead The Bloodline by presence,...

Street Fighter movie cast begins to take shape
Image
Although it was removed from Sony’s 2026 schedule, things seem to be moving ahead for the new Street Fighter film. Jason Momoa could be in it.

Back in March we covered a report which stated that Sony had removed its planned Street Fighter movie adaptation from its 2026 release schedule. Given that the project had already gone through one change in director and casting still hadn’t been announced, we couldn’t help but wonder if that marked a quiet end for the production.

Given that the only other live action take on Capcom’s beloved tournament fighting videogame series was a mostly unloved 1994 film starring Kylie Minogue, you’d be forgiven for thinking that this latest incarnation – set to be directed by prank-based road movie Bad Trip's Kitao Sakurai – was facing a similarly ignominious fate.

That appears not to be the case.

This morning, Deadline reports that Legendary, current holders...

4 Years After Insulting Him, Roman Reigns Will Work With His Hollywood Lookalike Jason Momoa
Image
In the current scenario of professional wrestling, Roman Reigns is one of the hottest names that fans love to acknowledge. Despite the tide not being in his favor, as he lost the WWE Undisputed Championship to Cody Rhodes in WrestleMania Xl last year, and this year in WrestleMania 42, he was betrayed by his Wise Man, Paul Heyman, to his bitter rival Seth Rollins, and he has been on a break.

However, that does not stop him from being the cash cow of WWE, where he is still one of the faces of WWE. Now, it appears that he’s going to follow in the footsteps of The Final Boss, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, as he might become a part of the live adaptation of Street Fighter. What makes the news all the more intriguing is how he would work alongside his lookalike, Jason Momoa.

This makes the film more exciting,...

Street Fighter: Jason Momoa In Talks For Blanka; WWE Superstar Roman Reigns To Play Akuma
Image
Despite rumors that the movie had been shelved, we recently got word that Legendary and Capcom's planned live-action Street Fighter reboot would be moving forward with Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) at the helm, and the casting process has now begun.

After originally being reported by Nexus Point News, Deadline has now confirmed that Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo are in talks to play the co-lead roles of Ryu and Ken, respectively, and Jason Momoa and WWE pro-wrestler Roman Reigns (real name Leati Joseph Anoaʻi) are also said to be in negotiations.

Jeff Sneider believes that Reigns has been cast as the villainous Akuma, the man who killed Ryu and Ken's trainer and his own older brother Gouken, while several sources are reporting that Momoa will take on the role of green-skinned fan-favorite, Blanka.

Street Fighter Movie: More Than Noah Centineo, It’s the ‘Ryu’ Actor I’m Most Excited for
Image
With superhero movies no longer being guaranteed successes in the current box-office climate, especially after the upsurge of mediocre Cbms in recent years, major studios are now shifting their focus to game adaptations. For a prolonged period, video game adaptations often failed to entice viewers, as past the visuals, the story often didn’t replicate the feel of those games, case in point, Assassin’s Creed.

But amidst the shifting trends, every major media behemoth is jumping on video game adaptations, including Legendary Entertainment with Street Fighter, and one casting choice in particular can elevate its hype.

Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Roman Reigns are in early talks to star in Street Fighter for Legendary Entertainment, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Based on the popular Street Fighter video game, the project is a partnership with Capcom and has not yet announced its cast. But it’s understood Momoa, Koji, Centineo and Reigns are circling the adaptation in early negotiations.

Kitao Sakurai, best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, was earlier announced to direct the adaptation. Capcom is deeply involved with the project, with Legendary co-developing and co-producing alongside the video game developer and publisher.

One of the more enduring fighting video game franchises of all time, the series began life with the 1987 arcade game Street Fighter, and set a high watermark for arcade fighting games with Street Fighter II. The game, released in 1991, was the first to offer a choice of characters and fighting techniques,...

Image
The next live-action Street Fightermovie adaptation has faced a few hurdles as of late, but it seems the project is finally taking shape. Legendary is moving forward with the reboot, and they look to add some of the most prominent faces in the action genre to the main cast.

According to Deadline, Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and Roman Reigns are in talks to lead Legendary's new Street Fighter film, which is set to be directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip). It is currently unknown who is writing the screenplay or producing the feature-length project. Street Fighter was first announced by the studio back in 2023, with Talk to Me's Danny and Michael Philippou attached to direct. Sakurai has since replaced the filmmaking duo, but that did little to stop the film from being moved off its Mar. 20, 2026 theatrical release date. The Philippou Brothers Unleash ‘Bring Her Back’: How the Ex-YouTubers Became A24’s Leading Horror Hitmakers
Image
How far does a billion YouTube views get you in a film pitch? Not very, as Australian twins Danny and Michael Philippou learned while scraping together funding for their first feature. In their twenties, the brothers honed their filmmaking chops — and gained millions of subscribers — on their channel RackaRacka, producing fast-paced, comically violent videos like “Harry Potter Vs Star Wars” and “Ronald McDonald Chicken Store Massacre.” All the while, they took some crew jobs on film sets and commercials to work toward directing their own movie.

“RackaRacka was a talking point in meetings, but not a good one,” Danny says, laughing. “They just didn’t think we could do a movie. To be fair, we weren’t making deep stuff on YouTube.” Michael adds: “It was, like, Nerf gun wars!”

Nudging ribs and kicking each other under the table during their interview, the 32-year-old twins — distinguishable by Danny’s bleached...
