‘Abbott Elementary’ is submitting most of the ‘Sunny’ Gang at the Emmys
Image
Abbott Elementary is submitting the Gang at the Emmys — but not all.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia stars Kaitlin Olson, Charlie Day, and Rob McElhenney, who guest-starred in an Abbott-Sunny crossover in January, are among ABC comedy's guest acting submissions. Conspicuously absent are Danny DeVito and Glenn Howerton, who appeared in the episode as well. Howerton, however, only made a brief cameo (due to scheduling conflicts with Netflix's Sirens) and does not meet the 5 percent screen time rule for guest submissions.

Abbott's other guest actress entrant is Talia Shire, who plays Melissa's (Lisa Ann Walter) mom, Teresa Schemmenti. Keith David, who plays Frank, Ava's (Janelle James) estranged father, and Gregory's (Tyler James Williams) barber, is the other guest actor submission.

These are just the network/studio's submissions; anyone can personally submit themselves, so there's still a chance DeVito and other guest stars appear on the ballot.

Supergirl Set Photo Reveals Mysterious Construction; Milly Alcock Shares First Look At New Netflix Series
Image
Filming on director Craig Gillespie and DC Studios' Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been underway in London since late January, but sets are only now being constructed for exterior scenes, and we have our first look thanks to @UnBoxPHD.

The photo isn't exactly very revealing, but it does give us a glimpse of something being built for the shoot. It's difficult to make out any details, but there's speculation that it could be some sort of Kryptonian (Kandorian?) space-craft.

With any luck, we'll get to see star Milly Alcock suited-up as the Girl of Steel as production continues. For now, the House of Dragon alum has shared a first look at her character from upcoming Netflix series, Sirens, which is set to hit the streamer this May.

Netflix Releases First Look at Julianne Moore/Meghann Fahy's 'Sirens'
Image
There's a new siren song in town, and it's sung by Julianne Moore. The Academy Award-winning actress is diving head first into the murky waters of Sirens, Netflix's forthcoming dark comedy, which she'll star in alongside The White Lotus star Meghann Fahy, as well as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow's Milly Alcock. And based on the new first-look images the streamer provided (which you can see for yourself in the gallery below!), we're about to answer the call of the seductive and idiosyncratic-looking new series.

Hailing from playwright and screenwriter Molly Smith Metzler, Sirens is said to follow "Devon (Fahy) on her journey to a lavish island where mansions and hydrangeas abound — and where she comes to realize that the surrounding waters are murkier than they first appear," according to Netflix's own Tudum. And while that description leans heavily into the mystery and intrigue, the official logline avails us...

Outrageously early Emmy odds: ‘The Penguin’ stars Cristin Milioti and Colin Farrell lead the movie/limited series acting races
Image
At this time last year, few likely had heard of Richard Gadd or Jessica Gunning, and the term “baby reindeer” didn’t immediately call to mind a harrowing exploration of sexual abuse and codependency. Yet, within a month, Baby Reindeer became one of last year’s most widely seen shows, and when the Emmy Awards announced its winners in the limited series and movie categories in September, Gadd, Gunning, and Baby Reindeer won. That’s illustrative of how quickly fortunes can change in the limited series race, which typically resets each season (save for an anthology series like Monsters or Fargo). Ahead, the early 2025 Emmy Awards odds in the movie/limited series categories.

Squid Game (2021)
We expect to see the a lot of announcements, clips, images, and other goodies from the Netflix streaming service today, and the action begins with the unveiling of the streamer’s 2025 TV slate – which is previewed in the fun “You’re Not Ready” trailer embedded above. In this trailer, a Netflix subscriber finds herself taking a journey through some of the many TV shows coming to the streamer this year, including Squid Game season 3, Wednesday season 2, the Cobra Kai finale, The Witcher season 4, and Stranger Things season 5. Don’t expect to see much in the way of show footage in the trailer; this is just about the subscriber’s adventure. Netflix had the actress who stars in the ad do a lot of stuff for this 3 minute promo, but unfortunately they didn’t reveal her name, so I can’t credit her for her work.

Did you miss Dennis in the Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny crossover? There’s some good news!
Image
It's been almost a couple of weeks since the iconic Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode. And honestly, we're still thinking about it, and rewatching the special as well. While it had so many amazing moments and we have almost no complaints, one little disappointment is the absence of Dennis.

If you feel that way too, we have some good news! The first is that there was a very good reason for his character to have been written this way, and things aren't just going to stay open-ended like that. We're going to get some answers as to why Dennis was so elusive in the crossover episode.

(Disney/Gilles Mingasson)

Let's start with the why of it all. In speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Patrick Schumacker shared that the reason Dennis' scenes were so limited is due to the fact that the show didn't have...

The Witcher: Sirens Of The Deep - Everything We Know
Image
Netflix's upcoming animated film The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will offer more monster-hunting action, and there have already been several major updates regarding Geralt's latest adventure. Continuing the streamer's expanded universe based on the Witcher books series by author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is the second animated film produced for the platform, and the first piece of Witcher media since the departure of Henry Cavill from the live-action series. The new animated feature delves deeper into the character's past and adapts a short story by Sapkowski which has never been brought to the screen before.

Henry Cavill's turn as Geralt in the live-action series had viewers streaming the show in droves, but Cavill left the role after The Witcher season 3. Netflix has hedged their bets though, and they not only produced a 2022 spinoff series entitled The Witcher: Blood Origin, but also a 2021 animated feature,...

Where did A.P. Bio star go in Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny crossover?
Image
You are surely a big fan of Glenn Howerton, right? You loved him in Fargo, Blackberry, and, of course, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. But you might even like him more from his role on A.P. Bio as Jack Griffin. But let's be real. Howerton made his bones on Sunny and he remains an integral part of the show.

The weird thing is that during the recent crossover episode, the Sunny folks did with Abbott Elementary, Howerton (or Dennis on Sunny), Dennis is hardly anywhere to be found. He shows up for about two minutes and says he does not like the way the documentary about the school is being filmed and walks away. We see him only for a split second later on.

Another odd bit is that the rest of the Sunny characters were written well for the Abbott Elementary episode, almost like all the characters...

Here’s the Real Reason Why Glenn Howerton Missed Most of the ‘Abbott Elementary’/’It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ Crossover
Image
In last week’s Abbott Elementary episode “Volunteers,” the highly anticipated introduction of the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia characters to the Abbott universe, Dennis Reynolds ducked out of the storyline in one of the earliest scenes because he didn’t consent to being filmed — at least, not by ABC cameras.

Despite the nervousness of both Abbott Elementary fans and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia stans leading up to the first part of the crosstown comedy crossover, critics and audiences agreed that “Volunteers” was a spectacularly successful merging of two very different Philadelphian sitcoms with two very different tones. Thankfully for both sides of the sitcom collaboration, the Paddy’s Pub Gang managed to spend an entire week at an elementary school without committing any heinous crimes (that we know of) and the broadcast TV censors of ABC didn’t dull the edge of the Always Sunny assholes one bit.

Abbott Elementary Crossover Dennis Twist Makes It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia Long-Awaited Season 17 More Exciting
Image
Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 9, “Volunteers."

While the first half of Abbott Elementary’s It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia crossover was successful, the sitcoms did leave one character out of the episode for a clever reason. Abbott Elementary’s cast of characters is reliably hilarious, and the antics of Mr. Johnson, Principal Ava, Melissa, Barbara, and Jacob would be fun without any outside help. However, Abbott Elementary season 4’s disappointing ratings prove that the mockumentary needs to drum up some publicity. Despite stellar reviews, the workplace sitcom is struggling to stand out among ABC’s scripted offerings from the 2024/2025 season.

Abbott Elementary EP Explains Why Dennis Is Barely In Always Sunny Crossover Episode
Image
The following article contains spoilers from Abbott Elementary season 4, episode 9, "Volunteers."Abbott Elementary executive producer Patrick Schumacker reveals why Dennis is barely featured in the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode. For its midseason return, Abbott Elementary season 4 staged one of the more bizarre crossovers in TV history. The Always Sunny Gang — Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day), Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dee Reynolds, and Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito) — are forced by court order to help the teachers at Abbott. Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton) is also there, but he vehemently refuses to take part in the ongoing Abbott documentary. That means he spends most of the episode unseen.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, along with fellow executive producer Justin Halpern, Schumacker broke down the Abbott Elementary and It's Always Sunny crossover. When asked about why Dennis makes his exit just minutes into the episode, remaining unheard and mostly unseen for the rest of it,...

Spider-Man (2002) Cast: Where Are They Now?
Image
Sam Raimi's Spider-Man ushered in a new era of superhero cinema, and many cast members of the Marvel Universe film have gone on to lead notable careers. With an MCU timeline that has gone on to combine all of the various universes in films like Spider-Man: No Way Home, there is reason to believe that additional actors and characters from this iteration of the web-slinger's universe may still play a part in Marvel's future. This makes it important to review the cast of Spider-Man, with an eye to where they are now.

The Spider-Verse has only grown larger in the decades since, with live-action and animated films alike cross-pollinating with one another. Audiences have continued to ask where future Tobey Maguire Spider-Man sequels are, and the more time that passes, the more likely it seems that such an event could actually occur. With Sony's villain-centric Spider-Man universe seeming to be ended,...

The following contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" season 1, episode 4, "Can't Say I Remember No At Attlin."

Neel (voiced by Robert Timothy Smith) on "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew" might look like a cute "Star Wars" mascot character archetype, but the plucky blue alien keeps subverting the odds and is well on his way to establish himself as the series Mvp. In episode 4, titled "Can't Say I Remember No At Attlin" after Sm-33's (voiced by Nick Frost) surprisingly meaningful favorite saying, Neel's courage saves Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and Kb (Kyriana Kratter) from certain death. Meanwhile, his pacifism and honesty manage to impress future Troik clan chieftain Hayna so thoroughly that his charm may inspire her to become a peaceful ruler -- thus potentially ending the cycle of violence that has plagued At Achrann for who knows how long.

The tough but thoughtful Hayna is deftly played by Hala Finley.

“Abbott Elementary” set a January premiere date for its crossover with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.”

The special episode will premiere Jan. 8 at 8:30 p.m. Et, serving as the midseason return for “Abbott Elementary” Season 4 on Wednesday nights. It will air after the series premiere of Tim Allen and Kat Dennings’ new comedy series “Shifting Gears,” which debuts at 8 p.m. Et.

Image
The highly-anticipated crossover between ABC’s “Abbott Elementary” and FX’s “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” just got bigger. While it was already revealed that the “Sunny” characters will show up on “Abbott” this season, Variety has confirmed that, as part of a two-episode event, the “Abbott” teachers will also show up on “Sunny” to hang with the Gang at Paddy’s Pub.

Earlier this month, “Abbott” creator and star Quinta Brunson and “Sunny” star/co-creator Rob McElhenney revealed that the two shows would join comedic forces for a very special episode of “Abbott” (which Brunson had previously hinted at San Diego Comic-Con). The mash-up made sense, given that both shows are set in Philadelphia, plus they both air on Disney-owned networks. (“Abbott” is produced by Warner Bros. TV.)

The “Sunny” cast — McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito — already shot their scenes for “Abbott” episode 409, in...

‘Abbott Elementary’ EPs Say Nsfw Parts of ‘Always Sunny’ Crossover Will ‘Never Make It to ABC’
Image
As “Abbott Elementary” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” shoot their upcoming crossover episode, “Abbott” coshowrunner and EP Patrick Schumacker teased there are some filmed scenes that will “probably never make it to ABC.”

“When we were shooting last week, Rob [McElhenney] had this improv in this one scene with Ava that I did not know was … coming; he just thought about it extemporaneously,” Schumacker told TheWrap, adding that the scene likely wouldn’t pass broadcast TV standards and practices.

“[It] made me spit out my coffee, and then wish that we had just an episode that was like a gag reel of all the stuff that we can’t use,” he continued. “I hope it exists at some point in time, because it’s so damn funny.”

While coshowrunner and EP Justin Halpern joked that some crossover episodes are “born out of some marketing person’s gross desire for synergy,” the “Abbott” and “Always Sunny” crossover,...

Image
Sorry, Ripley fans. This Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 review is going to be hard on him.

He spent most of the hour trying to sacrifice his career to protect Scully, only to berate Asher when she refused.

Yes, Scully was dying, but how did Ripley going to jail in his place help anything? This nonsense was more proof that this story needs to go away already.

(NBC/George Burns, Jr.) It Was Hard To Care About Ripley’s Career Being On The Line This Story Hurts The Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 Review Score

Ripley’s career was in danger, but Ripley didn’t seem to care very much about that, which made it hard for me to care, either.

This whole Pawel story has been weak. Ripley was going to fight because the guy was a compulsive liar who got away with too much crap, then settled as soon as the going got tough.

Comedian Catherine Cohen Says ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Has the ‘Best Vibes’
Image
Catherine Cohen has already appeared on “Girls5eva,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” “Awkwafina Is Nora from Queens,” “Broad City,” and “Search Party,” but it turns out no other show can really top the “good vibes” from Hulu’s beloved Emmy winner “Only Murders in the Building.”

Cohen stars in Season 4 of the whodunit series that centers on neighbors-turned-podcasters Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) as they solve the pile-up of murder cases that seem to follow them everywhere…including during a bicoastal stint as their podcast is adapted into a film.

While Eugene Levy, Zach Galifianakis, and Eva Longoria star as versions of themselves cast in the film adaptation of the podcast, Cohen and Siena Werber play a directing duo helming the movie. “Pachinko” alum Jin Ha is the screenwriter, with Molly Shannon as the producer setting the whole thing in motion.
