The rumors aren’t terrible, and they also aren’t true. Fans online are convinced that none other than Taylor Swift makes an appearance on Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated sixth album Mayhem. Specifically, they seem to believe Swift lent vocals on track nine, “How Bad Do U Want Me?” However, a source confirms to Rolling Stone that no, that is not Swift on the song.

German actress Hanna Schygulla delivered a powerful criticism of nationalism and far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) at the Berlinale today.
“We have to get away from this nationalistic thing,” said Schygulla, speaking at the press conference for Ameer Fakher Eldin’s Competition title Yunan. “It has only brought tears, wars, people being abused. All this shouldn’t be at stake anymore.
“Now we have the worst people in charge of the world. I feel quite impotent,” continued Schygulla, in a speech that lasted around eight minutes. “Everything in life is in movement, so maybe they will move out at some time – I hope.

Sad news made its way online over the weekend, as Lori Cardille, the star of writer/director George A. Romero’s 1985 zombie classic Day of the Dead, took to social media to confirm that her co-star Anthony Dileo Jr., known to his friends as Tim, passed away on Friday night. In Day of the Dead, Dileo played the character Miguel Salazar, who has a mental breakdown as the story plays out and, in the end, opens the gates to the underground bunker he and the other characters have been hiding out in, allowing the living dead to feast on fresh meat.
On Saturday, Cardille wrote, “It is with great sadness that I let you all know that my dear friend and colleague Anthony Dileo passed away last night from Covid. Tim was filled with love for nature, his beloved animals, family and friends and fans. He made me laugh every...

Once a promising rising star, now a certifiably exceptional leading man, Josh O'Connor has been charming audiences with compassionate, poignant, and magnetic performances for over a decade. In that time, he has crafted iconic characters that will be forever tied to his career. But before he garnered critical praise and an Emmy win for his portrayal of Prince Charles in The Crown, or gave us one of the most memorable performances of 2024 as Patrick Zweig in Challengers, O'Connor honed his skills by starring in Only You, a sensitive and heartfelt romance film released in the UK in 2019.

Warning: This article contains Spoilers for Before!
Apple TV+'s Before includes very few songs in the soundtrack, making them all the more impactful and meaningful when they do appear. The psychological thriller follows the mysterious connection between a child psychologist and widower named Eli and a troubled young boy in the foster care system named Noah. After its release, the Billy Crystal show received extremely divided responses, with critics almost unilaterally debasing the show as boring, slow, and repetitive. The only part of the show they appreciate is Billy Crystal, the lead member of the cast in Before.
However, viewers were much more positive about Before, praising the slow-burn pacing and central mystery. One element that wasnt been discussed much by either group is the soundtrack of Before. The reason this has been all but ignored is because there are almost no songs in the Apple TV+ original show,...

Robert Downey Jr. & Marisa Tomei Had a Charming Connection (Photo Credit – Koimoi)
The ‘80s and ‘90s delivered rom-com gold— When Harry Met Sally…, Sleepless in Seattle, and Notting Hill. But don’t sleep on Only You (1994). Before Robert Downey Jr. was Iron Man and Marisa Tomei became Aunt May, they shared a charming on-screen romance that deserves a second look.
In Only You, we follow Faith (Tomei), a quirky believer in destiny, as she searches for her soulmate, Damon Bradley. But wait—what’s this? Faith gets the name Damon from an Ouija board as a teenager and later hears it from a fortune-teller. “My soulmate! My other half!” she declares, typical of a dramatic teen. Fast forward, and Faith finds herself engaged to a podiatrist named Dwayne. Boring, right?

The 1990s saw many films that received negative reviews from critics at the time of their release, preventing them from having the long-lasting impact they deserved. Thankfully, some of these movies were reevaluated over time and gained well-deserved appreciation from audiences with time.
Only You is a romantic comedy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei that had an initial mixed reception, but it has since been recognized for its charming performances and earned its place among the hidden gems of the '90s and the lead stars' extensive filmographies. Another example is The Cable Guy. It was not what audiences expected from a Jim Carrey comedy in 1996, but its satirical take on media obsession was ahead of its time. Together, these films represent an underrated era of cinema whose impact is still felt today.

Brothers is Marisa Tomei's new crime comedy, and it is the perfect reminder to watch this $64 million movie that won her an Oscar 31 years ago. Marisa Tomei is a fantastic actress who has appeared in all kinds of beloved films, with her filmography including projects like The Wrestler, Only You, and the McU's Spider-Man movies. However, many fans of the actress will cite one specific role as her best, and while she has never reprised it in a sequel, Marisa Tomei's Brothers role is the closest that she has ever gotten.
Brothers is a new film on Amazon Prime Video, with it coming from Palm Springs director Max Barbakow. The film follows two twin brothers played by Josh Brolin and Peter Dinklage as they reunite for one last crime job. However, a series of wacky events keep getting in their way, with Brothers being one of the most notable crime comedies in years.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die continues the franchise tradition of including a soundtrack filled with memorable songs. The Bad Boys movies have always had a close relationship with music thanks to the frequent use of Inner Circle's song "Bad Boys." Directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Bad Boys: Ride or Die does not stray too far from what audiences expect to see or hear when Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are playing Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett.
The experience of watching Bad Boys: Ride or Die brings several opportunities to hear songs new and old. The franchise's Miami roots pave the way for plenty of Spanish music to be featured as Mike and Marcus embark on a new case. There are also some more modern hits, throwback tunes from different genres, original songs, and the usual return of "Bad Boys." This means Bad Boys: Ride or Die's...

Caribou, the electronic project from artist Dan Snaith, has confirmed a new album due out on October 4th, titled Honey. The album announcement is accompanied by the release of an upbeat single — stream “Come Find Me” below.
The follow-up to Caribou’s 2020 album, Suddenly, teases a new chapter for Snaith. “For his sixth Caribou album, Snaith now pulls himself away a little in search of music that isn’t about any one person and is available to everybody,” a statement reads. “Huge dancefloor tracks twinkle, shimmer, and surprise in a way only Snaith’s productions can, but with a freshness that defines an artist who is too excited by music-making to ever truly settle into any one sound.”

Constructing a soundtrack album is a gentle -- and perhaps lost -- art. This author is old enough to remember the 1990s heyday of movie soundtracks, when film producers would regularly license charting pop hits, obscure deep cuts, upcoming rappers, and underappreciated indie bands to construct carefully curated and meticulously produced albums that lived happily in your friends' cars all summer. There was a time when an unsuccessful film could recoup a lot of its theatrical losses with overwhelming soundtrack record sales. See: "Dead Man on Campus."
As the music industry collapsed in the early 2000s, however, soundtrack records fell out of favor. Movie songs became mere playlists, neither arranged on a CD in any cogent order nor lending themselves toward a general thematic thrust. We '90s teens can now whine (as is our wont) that soundtrack albums are, in the '20s, rarely more than "pile of neat songs.

Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Pretty Little Liars: Summer School episodes 1 through 8.
"Pretty Little Liars: Summer School" offers a bright summer slasher vibe with familiar characters and a new villain. Returning characters face new challenges as they navigate summer school and encounter the mysterious "Bloody Rose." The Max show's soundtrack includes popular songs like "School's Out" by Alice Cooper and "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama.
Pretty Little Liars: Summer School is a stark contrast to Original Sin, with brighter tones, sunny vibes, and, of course, several pop hits that are perfect for summer break. The slasher and horror elements are still present (proven by the haunting instrumental additions to the show's score) as the five teenagers recover from their experience with "A," aka Archie Waters, and try to move on. However, a new villain named "Bloody Rose" throws a wrench into the characters' plans in Pretty Little Liars: Summer School.

At the end of 1995's Ghost in the Shell, Major Motoko Kusanagi, now combined into a single entity with the Puppet Master, stands on a precipice high above New Port City. As Major (melded with this AI born in the "sea of information") looks out toward the city lights, she contemplates her shared, open-ended future: "And where shall I go now? The net is vast and infinite."
Since Mamoru Oshii's first Ghost in the Shell -- adapted from Masamune Shirow's manga of the same name -- dug its hooks into audiences worldwide, its profound and confounding ending has been co-opted and, invariably, degraded by a surfeit of films that just don't scratch the same itch. The appropriations are a testament to the truly "infinite" possibilities of an open-ended finale, but an uplinked, jacked-in consciousness doesn't have the same pop with the glut of offerings that end similarly. "You" season 5 reaching a book milestone isn't a problem as the show has already deviated significantly from the source material. The show's creative liberties allowed it to stand on its own rather than being a direct adaptation of the books. "You" season 5 overtaking the books is merely an interesting observation, not an obstacle for the show's final installment.
You is based on a book series by Caroline Kepnes, and You season 5 will mean the show hitting a potentially damaging milestone to which it has become immune. Netflix is no stranger to book adaptations, but You is by far one of its most successful. Kepnes' first book in the series, also named You, was published in 2014, with the show first airing four years later in 2018. Since then, there have been multiple new installments of both the books and the Netflix adaptation.

Oscar-nominated film director and producer Norman Jewison, who steered the 1967 racial drama “In the Heat of the Night” to a best picture Oscar and also helmed such popular films as “Moonstruck,” “The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming” and “The Thomas Crown Affair,” as well as film musicals “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Jesus Christ Superstar,” died Saturday at his Los Angeles residence. He was 97.
His film career began with fluffy Doris Day comedies like “The Thrill of It All.” But Jewison’s social conscience began to surface with “In the Heat of the Night” and, later, the labor union drama “F.I.S.T.” and other films focusing on racial tensions such as “A Soldier’s Story” and “The Landlord” (the latter of which he only produced), though he never abandoned comedies and romances.

A wide range of 2023 films had a song in their heart — and not just the outright musicals or films featuring musical numbers. A great needle drop can change or solidify a film’s tone, act as the cap on everything we’ve seen, or define a character better than any camera move, line of dialogue, or even performance can fully articulate.
This year we’ve had some great needle drops, from the films we expect to think obsessively about music — and these can range as widely as “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” to “Maestro;” from films that were delightful surprises built on musical swagger — it is criminal that we could only pick one song each from “Bottoms” and “Polite Society” because both films are filled wall-to-wall with bops; and from films that intentionally use music to hurt us and make us love them for it — a musical streak for...

We know what an American in Paris looks like, but an American in Italy…now that’s all the rage in recent years.
Italian costume designer Nicoletta Ercole, who was Emmy-nominated for her work on HBO film “My House in Umbria,” exclusively told IndieWire that the rise in Italy-set American productions have fumbled when capturing the romantic aesthetic of the nation. From “Mafia Mamma” to “The Book Club: The Next Chapter” to “Spin Me Round,” more and more American productions are opting to film in Italy. Now with Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” set to speed into theaters and the trendy second season of “The White Lotus” awaiting Emmy nominations, it’s proof that Italy is the country of the moment in stateside culture.
Yet according to Ercole, American filmmakers have an antiquated idea of Italian fashion. “They want to see really the Italian style, or in the case of ‘House of Gucci,...

The thriller movie Missing was a great genre bender that surprised the box office in early 2023, when it fought against behemoths like M3GAN and Avatar: The Way of Water. It made a little over $3 million on its first day of release, proving found footage and its derivatives can still be effective. Marketed as a sequel to 2018's Searching, the film also used the screenlife format to tell another story, and became a standalone sequel that confirms the franchise may become an anthology — it's hard to see how producers won't follow up with another entry.
Missing tells the story of June Allen, a rebellious teenager who like many, clashes with her mother Grace over the fact that Grace has a new boyfriend, Kevin. Then her mother takes a trip to South America with Kevin. The problem is Grace and Kevin never come home. June starts investigating on her own by using...

Christos Nikou’s “Fingernails” effectively pathologizes the unspoken secret at the heart of the romantic comedy genre: Falling in love is the easiest thing in the world, but staying in love is something you have to work on every day if you want it to last that long.

Everybody gets verklempt at a grand gesture or a mad dash to the airport in the third act, but what happens after the credits roll? What happens when Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan get...

Marisa Tomei was more than reluctant to shed her locks for 1994 film “Only You.”
Tomei, who plays a hopeless romantic determined to find her soulmate, a man identified by her Ouija board when she was a teen, had a major fashion moment onscreen with a stylish bob haircut, starting a trend upon the film’s release in 1994. Robert Downey Jr., Bonnie Hunt, and Billy Zane co-star in the beloved rom-com.
Emmy-winning costume designer Nicoletta Ercole, who also worked on fellow Italy-set productions like “Letters to Juliet,” “Under the Tuscan Sun,” and “My House in Umbria,” recently told IndieWire that Tomei had to be convinced to change up her style.
“Marisa, at the beginning, she arrived right after she won [the Oscar] for ‘My Cousin Vinny.’ She had very long hair,” Ercole explained. “I said, ‘Why can’t you cut it? Like this, it’s normal. It’s nothing special.'”

The '80s and '90s were a treasure trove of cinematic romantic comedy classics. From When Harry Met Sally... to Sleepless in Seattle and Notting Hill, 1989-2000 brought us so many great moments. Only You is a rom-com from that era that's always been dear to my heart. Never heard of it? I'm not surprised. Before Robert Downey, Jr. was Iron Man and Marisa Tomei was Aunt May, they played a couple trying to find their destiny, with beautiful vistas of Venice, Rome, and Positano, Italy as the breathtaking backdrop. Released in 1994, Only You was hardly considered a box office blockbuster, with a global gross of just $20 million, compared to Downey's paycheck from the MCU films, that was small potatoes, indeed.

The original UK version of The Office was focused on the running of a fictional paper company called Wernam Hogg, with subplots including the one following Tim and Dawn's relationship. The mockumentary series was created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, with the former taking the lead role of David Brent. With an intense need to seek approval from others, David proved to be a frustrating boss who lost sight of his job role by constantly wanting to impress his colleagues. Tim and Dawn had a more grounded outlook, representing how the audience saw the reality of David's daily antics, at the same time allowing viewers to see their connection.
The Office UK remains one of Ricky Gervais's best shows, acknowledged with a Golden Globe Award in 2014. Part of its high standard was due to the relatable subjects that were woven into the plot by its creators. Tim and Dawn...

The Bangles frontwoman Susanna Hoffs has announced a new album, a collection of covers called The Deep End. The project is out April 7th via Baroque Folk, while the first taste of the LP — a cover of The Rolling Stones’ 1966 track “Under My Thumb” — is available to stream now.
Produced by Peter Asher, The Deep End sees Hoffs tackle classics from the Stones, Squeeze, and Leslie Gore, as well as modern songs by artists like Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, and Brandy Clark. It arrives at the same time as The Bird Has Flown, the artist’s debut novel. Pre-orders for both the album and the book are ongoing.
While she admits to loving the Stones and “Under My Thumb” — “I’ve listened to that song on repeat since it came out in the mid-’60s,” she recalled in a statement — covering the track presented Hoffs with the opportunity to practice a little gender trouble.

Seth Meyers doesn’t often lament the departure of Donald Trump from the White House, but on Monday night, the “Late Night” host admitted that, just this once, he does miss the former president – only because he’s pretty sure Trump would definitely reveal the existence of aliens after Norad’s downing of several UFOs.
Following the demise of the suspected Chinese spy balloon on February 4, it was revealed that the US military shot down three more unidentified objects in US airspace the very next weekend. Little detail has been given about these objects, but when asked directly if extraterrestrial life had been ruled out in regards to these objects, the director of Norad admitted “I haven’t ruled out anything at this point.”
“I got to say — I never thought I would say this — this is one time I kind of wish Donald Trump was still president, just for like,...

“The Daily Show” guest host Chelsea Handler was a bit floored on Thursday night after learning that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un might be grooming his daughter to succeed him — mostly because it would mean North Korea might end up with a female leader before the U.S. does.
To kick off her headlines segment, Handler brought up footage from CNN, showing Kim Jong-un and his daughter at a recent military parade. According to the report, the parade marked the fifth event that Kim’s daughter has been at since November, and she is the only one of his children ever to be shown in public.
As a result, many have begun speculating that Kim is possibly setting his daughter up to take over for him when the time eventually comes.

Just over a month after Rep. George Santos took office following his victory in the 2022 midterm election, his time in office has been embroiled in scandal as pieces of his background are exposed as lies — a scam that buried a compelling story, CBS News correspondent Caitlin Huey-Burns says.
“A couple of people that we talked to pointed out that the great irony in all of this is that he did have a compelling story to tell,” Huey-Burns told TheWrap while discussing CBS News’ upcoming documentary. “His mother worked really hard to support him and she was an immigrant … People are drawn to that kind of story of coming from nothing and making it to Congress. So why did he feel the need to make up all these other things, and not let voters decide what to think?”
“Campaign of Deceit: The Election of George Santos,” which premieres Tuesday at 8 p.

Updated with latest: President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address drew an estimated 27.3 million viewers, a drop of 29 from last year, according to Nielsen.
That figure is the lowest audience for a Sotu in at least 30 years, according to Nielsen records. Biden’s 2021 speech to a joint session of Congress drew 26.9 million, but that event, coming just a couple months into his presidency, was not an official State of the Union speech.
The Nielsen figures were measurements of 16 TV networks. Last year, 38.2 million watched across 16 networks.
Nielsen said that 59 watched broadcast network coverage and 41 watched cable coverage. Some 73 of viewers were 55 and older, with 19 aged 35-54 and 5 18-34.
According to updated data, Fox News topped coverage with an average of 4.69 million viewers, followed by ABC with 4.4 million, NBC with 3.8 million, CBS with 3.64 million, MSNBC with 3.6 million, CNN with 2.4 million and Fox Broadcasting with 1.66 million.
