The Tony Danza Show

5/10

bland network sitcom

In New York City, sportswriter Tony DiMeo (Tony Danza) works from home. His assistant Carmen Cruz (Maria Canals-Barrera) does all the typing and anything computer. He is separated from his wife. His daughters (Majandra Delfino, Ashley Malinger) are living with him since his wife is always on the road. His father Frank DiMeo (Dean Stockwell) owns a bakery. Stuey Mandelker is the doorman.

Boy, people really have their hate on for this show. They aired only 5 episodes with 9 unaired. It doesn't seem to have gained any more fans since then. I am willing to say that I don't hate this, but it is a bland network family sitcom. Tony Danza still has his nice guy charms. The girls are fine and I like Delfino from her days on Roswell. It doesn't get any better than Dean Stockwell, but grandpa should live with the family.

As for the assistant, it's a dumb idea. Tony doesn't know how to type or turn on the computer. I have to wonder how he ever worked in a newspaper. It is a really dumb premise. I also hate him dictating his boring sports pontification to her assistant. It slows everything down and wastes time. This could have been a passable family sitcom, but the assistant idea is dumb.

Didn't have a chance

All the good shows get canceled too soon. That's my opinion. I thought this show was cute, lighthearted, and funny in the right ways. It was an innocent look at a single dad raising two daughters with the help of the quirky people around them - each with their own unique personalities and something interesting to contribute to the show.

Maria Canals was hilarious. She had the timing down to a T. Awesome and so hysterically funny. Everyone was wonderful in this show, and it just didn't get the chance it deserved.

At the very least, they should bring this one out of the archives and slap it on a DVD so that people can at least appreciate some history in these actor's careers. Tony Danza, Maria Canals, Dean Stockwell . . . Fans of these actors will want to keep something like this show in their collections. I'm sure of it.

Hilarious, kinda.....

When i first heard the news about Tony Danza having his own show again, i was jumping with delight. I was hoping that the man from "Who's The Boss?" could pull this off, being the great actor he is, to later find out, he is a cyborg. This was a disappointment, i thought he could play this role easily, being the great actor he is. The show was not very funny...PSYCHE!! Im a little disappointed its cancelled though :(
