Elio Quiroga's weird movie in which a beautiful young meets several freak roles along the way

A very strange and post-modern movie , a sui generis flick in the Spanish cinema surprisingly directed by Elio Quiroga . It deals with Azucena , Mercedes Ortega , she is 22 years old , a rare young girl who lives with her sick mother , Maria Asquerino , due to a past trauma no longer speak . Azucena works along with his best friend , the feisty Paqui: Diana Peñalver, at a photo lab . She has just broken up with his boyfriend when meets a new sweetheart , a sculptor who blinded by jealous attempts to rape her . She flees and suddenly sees a vision , Virgen Maria : Myriam De Maetzu . Soon after, Azucena arrives in a night club where meets the mysterious stripper Narciso : Gustavo Salmeron , and both of whom fall in love . But his parents, Simon Andreu , Amparo Muñoz , will stop at nothing to break their loving relationship .

A bizarre and barroque film plenty of surprises , emotion , passion , excessive melodrama , strange happenings , freaks galore and avant-garde design .The picture has Buñuel's surrealism, miracles , South American Culebron style , Almodovarian characters and many other things . The movie blends various genres, such as drama , musical , comedy , gothic terror and religious cinema . Including an attractive relationship beween a weird couple , as they will do anything to maintain united , sharing their secrets with each other to reinforce their love , though things go wrong . Starring Mercedes Ortega at his film debut , she gives a charming acting as a wonderful girl who has fear of sex and physical contact , hiding herself in her own sheltered world until she meets the Santa Virgen .And acceptable interpretation from Gustavo Salmeron as the suffering travestite who harbors a lot of secrets in his existence and will soon come to light . Support cast is pretty good , such as Simon Andreu as the sadomasochist and monstruous father , and Amparo Muñoz as the unbalanced mother .Furthermore , Diana Peñalver , Micky Molina , Maria Asquerino and Myriam De Maetzu.

Well produced by Julio Fernandez from Filmax Production . Julio Fernandez has financed several films of all kinds of genres , such as Terror : Rec saga , Dagon , Arachnid, Beyond Reanimator , Mientras duermes , Transsiberian, Paintball , Faust ; Cartoon : El Cid , Donkey Xote , Goomer , Copito Nieve ; Drama : Bullying , Tapas , The way , Bosque de sombras . It contains a sensitive and thrilling musical score by Carlos Cases . Colorful cinematography by Angel Luis Fernandez , but an urgent remastering being extremely necessary . The motion picture was professional but strangely directed by Elio Quiroga . The movie had a big success at Sitges festival where Quentin Tarantine really surprised himself and gave awesome critics , as well as Guillermo Del Toro . Quiroga is a good writer , producer and director . He has made shorts , documentary anda few films such as Custion de tiempo , La hora fria and Nodo .The yarn will appeal to cult movie fans .

Weird, bizarre, crazy... a piece of genius.

The most incredible movie I've seen recently. I can't describe it. It's not just a simple movie, but a feeling and a pure emotional experience in the deepest hell of melodrama. Now I understand latin people better. And I love 'em more. Simply the best spanish movie I've ever seen. Absolutely great! Don't miss it.
