    I loved this movie

The movie Drinking Games was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I worked at a video store and picked it up one day because I love Indy movies and it look interesting. I loved it!!!!!!!!! The characters were great and the story line is something most people can relate to. It was happy and sad and the ending was what you expected but still this is a wonderful movie and I wish I could find the song at the start of the movie, it is "outskirts" by the imposters.I still to this day have yet to come across a movie like this one and I hope I never do. This movies has not been touch by Hollywood and I am thankful for that, Hollywood seems to ruin movies, Kevin Smiths movies are now too Hollywood and I hate them now.

Generation X's version of the Big Chill

In the spirit of malaise that is the twenty something (almost thirty something dammit) lifestyle comes Drinking Games, a picture set in Oregon in the not too distant past of 1996. OK, thats a little dramtic, this movie brought me back to the days when I had friends and we shot quarters. This movie has a killer soundtrack, and the players interactions are well captured. This would be a good movie to kill a 12 pack to, even better than Scott's idea to watch Scarface and Drink when someone says "mother father" (hey, a little Mr.Show reference for ya!). Oh well, I dug it, because I have lived it, although the women weren't as good looking.

I wonder where my first review is?

Oh well, lost in cyber space I guess. Anyway, if you are a lost Gen-Xer like myself, you should dig this movie. If you ever banked a quarter in a glass, or sank a shotglass in a beeker, this movie is for you. It has a cool soundtrack, and the chicks are hot, so what could possibly be wrong? Peace.

    I'm still waiting....

As a huge fan of the movie Clerks, and all other Indie films that are released with little fanfare (Pi, The Ice Storm) when I saw this movie for sale, I quickly picked it up. The tagline said, "The best Indie movie since "Clerks" with the heart of "The Brother MacMullen." Well, maybe I watched a different movie. "Drinking Games" ended up being dark and not very comedic.

The plot takes us into a house with six friends (conveniently enough three guys and three girls) where they stay for one night following the suicide of one of their best friends. They decide to reminisce and mourn thru drinking, smoking, and playing games. While this movie does play along the same lines as "The Big Chill," it never quite reaches the intensity. In fact, the serious scenes are almost laughable at the lack of sincerity on the actors/actresses parts. The worst part of the movie is the ending, by all means. After remaining true to it's independent roots throughout the movie, it becomes horribly cliche at the end. And worse than that, it's disturbingly cliche. This movie had potential, but a poor lack of directing and little motivation between actors/actresses made this a thumbs down.

    A good independent flick

A good low budget movie that feels like a night of drinking with a few friends. A mid twenties big chill. You find yourself identifying with one of the characters and see your friends in the other roles. It does run slow at times. It does have some mid twenty standards like drinking games (obviously) like quarters and I never. Also some casual sex, and thats not usually a bad thing. This isn't the easiest movie to find though, it's usually in the five dollar and under bin. The performances aren't Oscar worthy, but hey, it probably was made for less then the computer you're on. If you don't like movies in one location that are dialogue driven, then pass on this and rent some crappy action movie.
