mild black comedy, better than some, not as good as others

quirky little movie about a motel owner who sets up a camcorder in one of his rooms, and ends up recording a murder. i rented this movie to see david patrick kelly, who plays the motel owner's friend/tenant. kelly, as always, is great to watch. (this is one of his few normal nice-guy roles). maybe this film will get a second wind on dvd someday...worth watching, if you can find a copy.

Cheap Shots is a fun and quirky independent film

I love independent films and was excited to see this film restored. The film is quirky and sad & funny at the same time. Louis Zorich and David Patrick Kelly are great together. They have a good chemistry on screen. Their flawed characters are portrayed perfectly by two really talented actors. The musical score by Jeff Beal is like having another character in the film. It's great. If you compare this film to other independent films of the time, it has the best production value. This film did well at the Sundance and London film festivals. Young, budding filmmakers should watch this film and learn how to maximize a budget with the best possible outcome.
