There was a video game of this....

Many years back, I played a Super Nintendo game called Dinocity. There was talks that it was based on some film that I have never heard of. Years later, thanks to the internet, I saw such movie.

    It was terrible.

I'm sure kids will like it. This looks like the type of film I would love if I saw it was a kid. I'll watch the Super Mario Bros movie before I ever watch this thing again.

It's about three kids who gets sucked into an animated cartoon in a science lab and end up in a dinosaur world. They befriend some talking dinosaurs named Rex and Topps and have to stop another dinosaur named Mr Big and his band of cavemen.

The acting is really bad but the girl playing Jamie is hot. This is more for the kids as it's rather forgettable and I just watched it and I forgot most of the movie already.

    Haven't seen this in YEARS!

This was one of my favorite movies when I was a little kid. I was starting to think I'd imagined the whole movie. My parents don't remember it, and I'd never ask my friends if they ever saw it. Now that I look back I realize just how silly the whole thing was. I guess when I was little I didn't really care about the plot or the acting. All I cared about was watching that T-Rex and his buddies. The evil dinosaur always scared the heck outta me, and I always had nightmares about him. It made me sad to learn that the guy who was Rex died a while ago. All kids watch today is this cartoon crap on cartoon network. What happened to shows like this?

A cheesy but enjoyable dino film for kids

I watched this way back as a little kid when VHS tapes were still around. Until I rediscovered it about thirty years later, I could have sworn it was a fever dream. I couldn't even remember its name until I accidentally stumbled upon it here.

Anyway, a trio of dinosaur loving kids are zapped inside their television set and wind up trapped in the world of their favorite cartoon, simply named "Dinosaurs". There, they must battle a tribe of cavemen named the Rockies led by the evil Allosaurus despot, Mr. Big, before they can find a way back home by retrieving a fuse stolen by the villains.

The three child actors are whiny and put up a lousy performance. The cartoon heroes weren't much better: Rex and Tops were thoughtless jerks at first and Forrys voice was really annoying, but they did have a change of heart and help the kids get back home. Mr. Big with his deep, booming voice and his goofy gang of cave people were a total riot to watch.

The dinosaur puppets and suits looked passable for a TV movie, but their uneven movements, poor lip sync, and barely functioning mouths and eyes lessened their effect, especially when compared to those used in Jim Henson's "Dinosaurs" broadcasted around the same time.

There were other good qualities. The bar fight and final battle against Mr. Big were surprisingly fun to watch. A few pieces of scenery the kids pass during their journey were pretty cool looking, too, like the boneyard and the dinosaur grim reaper statue. The cartoon introduction near the beginning had a catchy theme song, and its animation looked like an interesting mix of Ren and Stimpy and the Flintstones.

Overall, this wasn't the worst dinosaur film, and the sheer level of cheesiness made it good for a laugh. But chances are, most kids would only give this a single watch, even if they were big dinosaur fans.

    Not so bad

I remember watching this movie when I was in the third grade. I woke up early and was watching the Disney Channel, and the movie came on. Automatically, I was hooked onto it. I haven't seen this movie in such a long time, but at that time is was something that put a smile on my face. To say that is' a silly, stupid movie that deserves no praise is pretty harsh. Yes it wasn't the best movie ever made, and yeah, it didn't have the best actors in the world. But this is in no doubt the set up for those "sucked into games" fanfiction. This shows how those kids would respond if they got sucked into their favorite cartoon, just like how fanfiction authors write about how they would interact with the characters, change the story lines and travel the world after being pulled into their favorite cartoon, movie, or game. I think this movie put that fantasyworld of ours into motion, and for that it deserves a lot more respect.

I can't say much more at the moment. I'll only conclude that it was a funny, sweet and cute movie, and I'd love to watch it again.

    Sickening stupidity -- My love.

Although, as the other comment (yes, there is only one) for this movie says, it is horridly bad, I find it very entertaining. As one of the things I have accidentally taped from TV from letting the VCR record too long, I watch it now and then. Someone put some amount of effort into making this, why not enjoy the result?
