He Said, She Said - L'amour en stéréo

“They don’t want the story to eclipse everything”: ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Had the Most Realistic Take on #MeToo That I Now Realize Was Pure Genius
Image
Brooklyn Nine-Nine has delivered plenty of brilliant episodes, but one that truly stands out is “He Said, She Said.” What makes it exceptional isn’t just the sharp writing or the humor, it’s how beautifully and thoughtfully it tackles the complexities of the #MeToo movement.

Directed by none other than Stephanie Beatriz (who plays the badass Rosa Diaz), this episode takes on one of the most serious topics while maintaining the show’s signature balance of comedy and heart. Instead of simplifying the issue, it presents multiple perspectives, showcasing the emotional weight and real-world consequences of workplace harassment and the difficult choices survivors face.

Unlike many sitcoms that shy away from such heavy themes or handle them superficially, Brooklyn Nine-Nine leaned in with such authenticity that is truly rare to see. Thus in turn,...

Another Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Doc Sets June Premiere on Discovery+
Image
Warner Bros. Discovery is moving forward with another documentary about Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, TheWrap has learned. “Baldoni vs Lively: A Hollywood Feud” — the working title of the upcoming project — will be the latest installment of Discovery+’s “Vs” franchise. The project is expected to premiere in June in the U.K. and Ireland. There is no news yet on if or when its U.S. premiere will happen.

The special out of Warner Bros. U.K. and Ireland promises to be a deep dive into the case ahead of its trial date, which has been set for March of 2026. The streamer previously released similar documentaries about Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, as well as Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney. It’s one project of over 50 hours of new and returning series Warner Bros. U.K. and Ireland announced for 2025. Other announced projects include “Rubiales vs Hermoso: The World Cup Kiss,...

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Documentary Coming to Channel 5, ID
Image
The first documentary about the legal saga between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni will premiere on Monday in the U.K., according to multiple media reports. “He Said, She Said” comes from ITN Productions.

The 90-minute cut of the doc will premiere on Channel 5 on Monday. As for the project’s U.S. premiere, a condensed 60-minute version of the project has been acquired by Investigation Discovery. That version is set to air on March 31 on ID and will be available to stream on both Max and Discovery+.

It’s unlikely that this will be the last documentary that will examine this particular Hollywood feud. The “It Ends With Us” drama started in December of 2024 when Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, accusing the director of sexual harassment and intimidation. As part of that lawsuit, Lively accused Baldoni’s camp of creating a smear campaign against her,...

Adam Scott's Boy Meets World Role, Explained
Image
Before his Emmy Award nomination for "Severance" (the mind-bending second season of which is currently underway on Apple TV+) playing a man who literally splits his working and personal lives, or starring on the beloved sitcom "Parks & Recreation," Adam Scott was one of several guest stars on "Boy Meets World" who went on to make it big. The ABC sitcom was part of the popular T.G.I.F. Friday night programming from 1993-2000 before re-running on the Disney Channel and ABC Family. "Boy Meets World" follows a neurotic 11-year-old through his school years as he navigates becoming a better person with the help of his wise teacher Mr. Feeny, a romantic relationship with his one true love Topanga, and social class differences with his best buddy Shawn.

"Boy Meets World" was one of Adam Scott's first acting jobs, and even though his role as the high school bully Griff Hawkins was brief,...

The 25 Best Episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine Of All Time
Image
Brooklyn Nine-Nine was remarkably consistent during its run, and the best Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes matched up with any other comedy on television. Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiered in 2013 on Fox, and while it gained a lot of fans and critical praise for its off-the-wall humor, Fox canceled it after five seasons. Luckily for fans, NBC saved the show and aired it for three more seasons, and presented some more of the best Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes, without ever missing a beat. By the end, the series ended with eight seasons and 153 episodes, while also picking up a Golden Globe along the way.

The best Brooklyn Nine-Nine episodes focused on the amazing actors that made up the cops at the fictional 99th Precinct of the NYPD in Brooklyn. No matter how the immensely talented cast was paired up in any given episode, it typically made for hilarious and compelling television. Every season of the series was critically acclaimed,...

15+1 Iconic Asian Films Throughout the History of the Academy Awards
Image
In 1929, the Academy Awards were established by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to celebrate global excellence in the film industry. While it had its fair share of detractors over the years, the Academy has managed to navigate through the mire of controversies, especially the touchy topic of racial and cultural representation (case in point: #OscarsSoWhite movement), to stay relevant throughout its illustrious history.

Asian Films have been honoured starting with the 19th edition of the Awards when they were first given as a special honorary prize for the Best Foreign Film released in the USA. Nine years later, the prize became a competitive one and a winner was chosen from within a pool of predominantly non-English nominees.

Seven illustrious motion pictures from within Asia have clinched this top honour but many others, some of which are amongst the most iconic of Asian cinema, have been nominated and acknowledged as well.

Here's What Makes Brooklyn Nine-Nine a Groundbreaking Comedy Series
Image
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a groundbreaking comedy series that has defied the rules of typical sitcoms following its debut in 2013. It has been described as the most “woke” show in recent history, dealing with a variety of social issues, like feminism, racism, and queerness honorably and respectfully. Most importantly, the humor of the show — and it is very funny — is never aimed at marginalized communities, which unfortunately tends to be the case in sitcoms historically.

Propelled by its talented ensemble cast, led by Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg as the talented yet immature Detective Jake Peralta and the late and great Andre Braugher as the deadpan Captain Raymond Holt, Brooklyn Nine-Nine brings us relatable, rich characters that make it impossible not to invest in the quirky cop comedy. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is brought to fans by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, the same minds that introduced the world to another beloved workplace comedy,...

Ashley Tisdale Has Renewed Our Faith In Celebrities, and Also, Possibly, God?

The Architectural Digest celebrity house tour (or the “Ad house tour,” for those deeply attuned to the thrumming heart of popular culture) is not known for its emphasis on verisimilitude. Many of the videos appear to be highly staged, or at the very least, they are a master class in the aphorism, as extolled by the Countess Luann, that money can’t buy you class.

The first chink in Ad’s truth armor came in the midst of the pandemic, when Dakota Johnson extolled her love for decorative limes in her Ad house tour video,...

Ashley Tisdale Reveals Disney "Made" Her Change These Song Lyrics During HSM Tour
Ashley Tisdale
Ashley Tisdale says she was asked to switch up her language as she was bopping to the top.  On Tuesday, Oct. 19, the 36-year-old actress posted footage to TikTok that showed herself duetting a video of a fan listening to Ashley's hit single "He Said She Said." The song was released on the star's debut 2007 album Headstrong, and she performed "He Said She Said" and a few of her other original songs while on the High School Musical: The Concert tour that began in late 2006 and continued until May 2007.  The fan could be seen happily grooving to the song's chorus until she seemed to experience a gradual realization about the seemingly...

Chvrches Confront The Horrors Of The Internet On ‘Screen Violence’
Image
In some ways, a horror-themed album seems like the farthest thing you might expect from the Glasgow band Chvrches, known for iridescent synths and lead singer Lauren Mayberry ’s practically elfin, perennially chipper voice. But on their fourth LP, Screen Violence, Mayberry and band members Iain Cook and Martin Doherty pack the stifling anxieties and roving fears of the Internet age into earnest choruses and multi-textured songs, offering a project that swings from tinselly to tense as they try their best to expand their maximalist sound,

‘She Said’ Gets Release Date; Pic Based On Book About Harvey Weinstein Case Stars Carey Mulligan & Zoe Kazan
Image
Universal Pictures has set a November 18, 2022, release date for She Said, about the reporters who broke the Harvey Weinstein sexual-assault story.

Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) and Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick) star as New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, respectively. They broke one of the most important stories in a generation — one that helped launch the #MeToo movement, shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood and altered American culture forever.

Deadline broke the news about the movie last month. It’s based on Twohey and Kantor’s bestseller She Said: Breaking the Sexual Harassment Story That Helped Ignite a Movement.

Everyone in Hollywood remembers where they were when the duo’s first story ran on October 5, 2017. Kantor and Twohey revealed an array of alleged sexual harassment and assaults against women by the then-Weinstein Company co-chairman and indie film mogul Weinstein, misdeeds that dated back decades.

Image
“She Said,” a dramatic retelling of the sexual harassment investigation that took down Harvey Weinstein and sparked the #MeToo movement, is coming to theaters next year.

The movie, from Universal Pictures, will be released on Nov. 18, 2022.

“She Said” will star Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan as New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, who together broke the story that shattered decades of silence around the subject of sexual assault in Hollywood and sparked a cultural reckoning. The movie will focus on their efforts to uncover and expose decades of allegations against the powerful film producer, who was eventually sentenced to 23 years in prison on charges of sexual assault and third-degree rape.

Kantor and Twohey won Pulitzer Prizes for their work on the story, which published in October 2017 and detailed accounts of numerous women who claimed Weinstein abused or harassed them in incidents that dated back to the 1990s.

‘Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes’ Provides an Elegant Showcase for Ronan Farrow’s Reporting: TV Review
Image
Ronan Farrow’s reporting on Harvey Weinstein — first his coverage in The New Yorker in 2017, then his metacoverage of what it took to get that story in his 2019 book “Catch and Kill” — helped to crystallize and define a moment in American cultural life. With the new documentary series “Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes,” Farrow amplifies that work, continuing to tell both the story of Weinstein’s predations and of his attempts to quash serious journalistic inquiry.

This will be familiar to many potential viewers. As the show’s title suggests, this series — directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato — is a spinoff of Farrow’s podcast, itself a spinoff of the “Catch and Kill” book. Anyone familiar with either will be revisiting a story they’ve encountered before. And yet as a primer for a new audience, this is a worthwhile bit of programming from HBO, keeping both Weinstein...

‘Love, Victor': All of Season 2’s Original Soundtrack Moments Ranked
Love, Victor (2020)
Season 2 of Hulu’s comedy-drama series “Love, Victor” was recently released, giving fans another look into Victor’s life as he comes out as gay to his Catholic parents, further explores his queerness in a new relationship and possibly falls for another boy — all while navigating high school. And underscoring the show’s moving plot lines is a collection of original songs — most of which are from queer artists — that brilliantly soundtrack each heart-fluttering hand hold, emotional confession and rousing climax throughout the season.

Inspired by and set in the same world as the beloved movie “Love, Simon,” “Love, Victor” follows Michael Cimino as Victor, a half Puerto Rican, half Colombian American teen who is piecing together his identity as he juggles family, friendships and romantic interests.

George Sear stars as Victor’s main love interest, Benji, alongside Rachel Hilson, Anthony Turpel, Bebe Wood, Mason Gooding, Isabella Ferreira, Ana Ortiz and James Martinez.

Brie Larson Is Back on the Billboard Charts Thanks to Scott Pilgrim Anniversary
Image
With her 2016 musical Saturday Night Live appearance recently trending on TikTok, it is ironic that Captain Marvel's Brie Larson has found herself in the Billboard Music Charts following the release of a song she recorded for the movie Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. As the movie celebrated it 10th anniversary, a special extended release of the movie soundtrack was released, including for the first time Larson singing the song Black Sheep, which was only previously available as a version by Metric, who wrote the song for the film.

It seems like these days, with music streaming being what it is, there are very few songs that listeners cannot instantly get their hands on, but in this case the song has been something sought by fans of both Brie Larson and the movie for a long time, so the anniversary became very special when the track became available to them on streaming services.

There Is No Evil - Amber Wilkinson - 16635
Mohammad Rasoulof
When it comes to the justice system of Iran,Mohammad Rasoulof has certainly been on the receiving end. The Iranian filmmaker, who won the Berlin Golden Bear last year for this portmanteau film musing on the death penalty, is under a filmmaking and travel ban and is still threatened with jail by his country's government.

There Is No Evil is the name of the first of the short films in this collection, which also includes She Said, 'You Can Do It', Birthday and Kiss Me. Each film considers the impact of the death penalty from a different angle, but there is also a slow build through the quartet as Rasoulof schools us in the ins and outs of a judicial system in which not only those who are directly sentenced to death can find themselves condemned as a result.

If you didn't know that the first segment concerned capital punishment,...

In Conversation With Harvey Weinstein’s Former Assistant, Rowena Chiu, Who Is Breaking Her Nda For This Interview
Image
Rowena Chiu claims Harvey Weinstein attempted to rape her on a business trip in 1998. She had only met Weinstein two times and had begun working as a new assistant at Miramax, just one month prior to the Venice Film Festival when the alleged incident occurred. During a late-night meeting to discuss film productions and scripts, Chiu says she declined Weinstein’s request for massages, before the producer pushed her up against the bed and took off her tights. Chiu managed to escape the room, but the lasting effects of the incident never went away.

More than 20 years later, Weinstein — who is serving a 23-year sentence in New York state prison after being convicted on two charges of rape in the third degree and a criminal sex act — still denies the attack ever happened.

“I’m breaking my Nda right now,” Chiu tells Variety in an exclusive interview, conducted over the...
