Nice Story and Great Setting; Familiar Yet Refreshing

One of my favs from the 90's. I saw this late one night in the mid nineties in NY around 1am on ABC 7. I was touched by the movie. Very nice concept. A nerd is a loser, but somehow the best girl in school likes him and then a tale of lost love.

This was a joy to watch. It has BIG name starts from the 70's and 80's doing a made for TV movie which has disappeared from television.

It's about a ghost who died on her prom day. It's about the classic nerd who somehow has a date with the hottest girl in school. But it is not meant to be as it is a love lost, but found 30 years later.

Very nice movie. As a macho guy, this was touching. This is a nice movie to watch alone or with a girlfriend. I found the characters, the story and the plot very engaging. You can relate to characters in the movie easily, and you do root for them.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! 10 out of 10! Done before? Yes, but never gets old.

    Nifty little fairy-tale

Modern day fairy-tale made believable by the the acting of Cathy Pode-well.The intertwoven relationships made this movie interesting and involved to say the least. However, the story was easy to follow and Cathy made it all fun to watch. What ever happened to Cathy Podewell??

    Wonderful TV movie!

"Earth Angel" is a classic TV movie, the urban legend of the prom queen who dies in the 50's or 60's (as is the case in this movie) takes a drastic romantic-comic change instead of being a horror story, the result is amazing. The film is wonderful with a very positive touch, the script is quite compelling, the light-dark cinematography is very good, the performances are quite funny and cute, the costume and hairstyle designs based on the 60's are well done. A classic from TV movies.

    Been done, but still good.

While Earth Angel's plot is not entirely unique (Heavenly Kid, Disney's Susie Q, among others I'm sure), the story line was done well. Older, yet familiar actors (Cindy Williams, Erik Estrada, Mark Hamill) make it a very watchable movie. "Newcomers" Rainbow Harvest (who bears a resemblance to Wynona Ryder in this one), and Cathy Podewell do magnificent jobs as "typical" teens for their time. Also of note is Roddy McDowall as Mr Tatum, pergatory's detention officer, who plays a pivotal, yet fairly minor role. So sit back, suspend disbelief, and just enjoy a very nicely made movie. P.S. Hope this doesn't spoil it, but Angela disappears immediately after completing her "mission", and this leaves no opportunity for Cindy to thank her. This would have been the only thing I would have changed.

Not bad, some fun 50's entertainment

I accidentally found this movie on a tape I had recorded in 1991 while at college, and finally watched it in 2004. The storyline is weak, but not overly obvious. Has a couple of older stars near the end of their active careers. Erik Estrada is as weak as ever as an actor, and Cindy Williams just can't re-ignite the old time flavor that distinguished her in the 1970's. A few new actors, but mostly a bunch of pretty faces. They take a nice 1956 Chevrolet Belair Convertible in the beginning, and smash it into a tree. The car is brought back to life in the early 1990's (though the cars and attire are more like the mid-1980's). From a classic car's viewpoint, they hit the tree quite hard, and probably bent the frame....hard to watch a classic piece of iron get creamed! An average fun movie, with a few old cars, 50's lingo, and classic attire.

Near the end of the film, Norman is watching TV and the tune emanating from the show he is watching is the theme from Monsieur Ed, le cheval qui parle (1961). Alan Young, who plays Norman, was the leading man in that old TV show.
    • Goofs
After the near fatal car accident involving Cindy and Mike, he is standing on the outside of the car with his head inside. His hair is dry, but after it cuts to a shot of Cindy and cuts back to Mike, his hair is wet.

Wayne Stein: [trying to tutor Angela in history] Well... you listen to music?

      Angela: Yeah.

Wayne Stein: You sing along, right?

      Angela: [hardly paying attention] Sure.

Wayne Stein: Well, you remember the words, right?

      Angela: That's different.

Wayne Stein: No! No, no, it's not different. You can learn new lyrics, like, for D-Day.

[Wayne starts singing improvised lyrics to 'That'll be the Day']

Wayne Stein: Battle of D-Day, the Second World War. Battle of D-Day, nineteen forty-four. Battle of D-Day, I'll say it once more. When Eisenhower led the troops to Normandy's shore.

      [Angela smiles, impressed]
