    This is one bad movie!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this travesty back in 1996 around the time it came out....... was only 15 then And I still hated it, Kiddies may like it but this movie was so badly done that even die-hard martial arts and action fans will be bored to tears!!!!!!! I would never in my life show this crap to my kids because kids derserve to have a few braincells left in tact! Even for a martial arts girl movie there's nothing redeeming here.

So bad it's actually quite funny and entertaining

The first time I saw this film was on a bus in Mexico. It was the only movie they were showing and I was riding the bus quite a bit. The first time I saw it it was absolutely horrible. By the 5th time I'd seen it I was completely brainwashed. It's definitely worth watching once, if not to give yourself something to think about. It's very thought-provoking in that it makes you ask that one question that's plagued mankind since the advent of the movie industry - why? Why are some films ever made? After seeing it so many times I'm inclined to think that it has subtler, deeper meanings. There must be symbolism in a little girl that can beat up bad guys with her pony tail...brainwash...brainwash. To truly enjoy it as I have you should have someone strap you in a chair and have them force you to watch it at least 5 times without a break. Then, you will embrace it.

    Rollerskating Ninjas

If you can't accept things like what I mention in the summary above, don't go anywhere near "Black Belt Angels". If you can take it as part of the joke, it's safer for you to watch. With limited production values (reflected on the DVD itself - it doesn't even have a starting menu!), a cast largely comprised of people who never acted on another film, before or since, and a "story" that's the thousandth variation on the "bad guy wants to close down martial arts school, old wise master of martial arts school refuses to sell" story, this is a silly, harmless movie aimed mostly at kids. The "ninjas" are used for comedic purposes, but the young girls are all genuinely skilled Tae Kwon Do practitioners, and their grace & flexibility are evident. I would like to have seen more of them. The fight scenes are sometimes too soft in their impact, however they do get better as the movie goes on. The climax on the boat is legitimately exciting. ** out of 4.

Black Belt Angels, best when viewed after a (BIG) glass of wine.

Black Belt Angels is a family oriented film, aimed towards kids under 12 years of age. The stunt work all performed by the girls, is very well choreographed, but the plot leaves something to be desired and the acting is mediocre at best, though somewhere through the film, added sound effects make the acting more bearable and changes the film from semi-dramatic to humorous. If anything this may get your kids interested in the martial arts, rather than video games. Filmed on locations in and around Mission Beach, California, in the San Diego county, the backdrop of the skyline and beaches are absolutely beautiful. The final cut was obviously put together quickly, as you see boom microphones hanging in shots and shadows from the crew in scenes throughout the film. Over all very young kids may enjoy the martial arts, but the drunk scenes may not be appropriate. Odd since this is a kids movie. The only reason I own this particular movie: I'm in it.
