Uninvited

A group of strangers (including a half-crazed survivor of the Donner party!) pool their money and buy a mountaintop gold mine. Unbeknownst to them it's cursed by the spirits of the Indian warriors who died there years ago.

Uninvited is basically a micro-budgeted frontier variation of The Shining with not enough horror to satisfy horror fans and not enough action to satisfy western fans. There's a sense of doom and gloom that hang over the proceedings but little suspense. Most of the highly unlikable characters spend most of the time bickering amongst themselves and in the end there's no one to root for.

I knew something was wrong when top billed Jack Elam disappears from the picture before the beginning credits finish rolling!

What a tedious western movie with just an hint of horror: a few people stranded in the wild near a gold mine have to confront their inner demons. No suspense, almost no sex, no action at all. The acting is not so bad, but for the rest you has more fun watching a blank screen. Really boring

An interesting mix of western and horror movie delivers just enough to hold one's attention throughout. The top billing of Jack Elam is mendacious; he's there for about three minutes at the beginning and then we're on our way up the haunted mountain with a cast of unknowns. The only two vivid characters are the vociferous loser Billy Ray and the bearded heavy, an apocryphal survivor of the Donner Party. Most puzzling character is a Man of the Cloth who's apparently a preacher of a common frontier Protestant sort but is throughout called a "priest" and "padre". The atmosphere is pretty well controlled and I especially liked the way the cinematographer picked up the mist on the mountain. I suspect any other viewer will share my confusion about what happened to Winchester at the end.

I first saw this in the mid 90s on a vhs. Revisited it recently. The movie is boring, there is nothing scary or western about it.

An old wise man guide eight fellas to a sacred mountain to dig for gold cos all 8 of em share one thing, a desire for the gold. The gold diggers trespass on a sacred Indian burial ground n kill a native Indian thereby angering the ghosts that dwell in the area. Slowly, they all are tormented by the dead spirits n they all descend into madness.

U can't even call it a poor man's Treasure of Sierra Madre. The best western n horror genre mash up is Bone Tomahawk which again consist the same theme of a Native burial ground being trespassed n its aft effects.

I am generous with a 3 cos of Bari Buckner's boobs (she is credited as the screaming woman in the 1997 Lost World Jurassic Park). Tried searching if she did any other films but to no avail. Even the other actress Erin Noble has an attractive face. The whole time i was giggling at Christopher Boyer's bald head.
