    Boring 'new' comedy

Two girls (Rosa and Rosae) had to be left when they were children, they exchanged a diary and a collar and, mysteriously, their personality; one became writer thanks to the diary and the other became a fortune-teller who gives luck to her lovers.

This movie is nearer to the classic 'españolada' than to the new Spanish cinema, there are very few gags which get to make laugh, so it's a boring film; luckily, there aren't cultural jokes (typical of the old Spanish comedies). The lead actresses, the great singer Ana Belén and María Barranco, have done better movies, as well as the director, Fernando Colomo.
    4ma-cortes

Unven and mediocre Fernando Colomo comedy full of silly situations and ridiculous incidents.

Two school friends meet again a long time later after years without having had any contact. Once grown-up, Rosa (Ana Belén) is a writer who achieved success with her novel "Rosae's Diary", is being pressed by publisher Graciela (Rosa Novell) to write her second novel or return the advance payment , which Rosa cannot because she used it to pay the apartment she lives in. Desperate, she takes a walk in a park and meets by chance Rosae (Maria Barranco), her friend from school who asked her to keep her diary when they parted. Rosa confesses to Rosae that she used the diary to write the novel that made her successful. Rosa finds herself in a difficult situation and accumulates debts. She also has a tiresome daughter who demands money from her and a lover (juanjo Puigcorbe)who is a famous television presenter. While Rosae is the complete opposite, a former hippie postal worker who reads tarot cards in the afternoons and lives with an oriental mentalism master. Things get worse when Rosae has an affair with Rosa's shameless lover, and Rosa finds out.

This is a fantasy and absurd comedy with sympathetic interpretations and fun set pieces. Pleasant and amusing Spanish comedy , being averagely directed by expert comedian director Fernando Colomo. This comedy contains disconcerting situations , humor , entertainment , romance and including brief nudism . After four years without making a film, dedicated to the long-running television series "Girls of Today" screenwriter, producer, and director Colomo returns to the cinema with this fun film.

This is a slightly funny film with entertaining events , giggles , amusement and agreeable scenes especially at its final part .The film moves in fits and starts most of which would be desirable , with more traps the viewer resists any kind, and some moments of enjoyment and others quite a few embarrassing with plenty of absurdities and implausibilities . This is an unusual Colomo movie , this is a different comedy who does not have the content or significance of other Fernando Colomo movies such as ¨Linea Del Cielo¨ , ¨Efecto Mariposa¨ , ¨Al Sur de Granada¨ and ¨Los Años Barbaros¨, but resulting to be a simple and plain entertainment. Starring two box office stars from the 1990s. One , Ana Belén, is a bourgeois dissatisfied with her well-to-do life; the other , Maria Barranco, is a non-materialistic bohemian that practices esotericism. The film deals with two women of different personalities and the exchange of characters between them. As children, they were friends, and a reunion when they are older will change their lives again or perhaps put things back in their place. Rosae, with the intention of taking notes for her new book, delves into Rosae's world to the point of achieving the long-awaited stability. Meanwhile, Rosae is fascinated by the success and the fame that surrounds Rosae's world, in which she will eventually achieve fulfillment.

The motion picture was regularly directed by Fernando Colomo Gómez (born 2 February 1946). He is a Spanish film producer, screenwriter and film director. He has also acted in small roles in his own and other's films. He is regarded as the father of the so-called comedia madrileña. In 1977, with a group of fellow architects, he formed La Salamandra P. C. and shot his first feature film, Tigres de Papel, starring Carmen Maura in her first leading role. Presented at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, it was hailed by critics as the festival's revelation. The film, shot entirely with live sound, a novelty at the time, surprised with the naturalness of the little-known actors and won the CEC awards for best screenplay, best new actress, and best actor; the Luis Buñuel Award for best new actress; and the Sant Jordi Award for best Spanish film of the year. The following year, he also shot ¿Qué hace una chica como tú en un lugar como este? (What's a girl like you doing in a place like this?), starring Carmen Maura. This film established him as the father of what was called the New Madrid Comedy and led to the discovery of the group Burning, a benchmark of the Movida madrileña scene. In 1980, he produced Opera Prima, Fernando Trueba's debut film, which was the highest-grossing Spanish film of the year, premiering in several countries and winning awards at the Venice and Chicago film festivals. That same year, he directed La mano negra, which was selected for the Montreal and Los Angeles film festivals and winning some prizes. Already in 1983, with a crew of 5 people and a 6-page manuscript, he shot in 16mm in New York City La línea del cielo, an autobiographical film with Antonio Resines (Colomo's own alter ego) leading a cast of non-professional actors who played themselves. Colomo is a talented and versatile writer/director who has made a vast array of often solid and entertaining films in all kind of genres as comedy, drama and one science fiction movie (1985 El caballero del Dragón) in a career that spans over 30 years . Especially known for directing comedies such as 1987 La Vida Alegre , 1988 Miss Caribe , 1989 Bajarse al Moro , 1993 Rosa Rosae , 1994 Alegre Ma Non Troppo , 1995 Efecto Mariposa . And in the 2000s directed Al Sur Granada (2003) , El Próximo Oriente (2006), Rivales (2008) , La Banda Picasso (2012), Isla bonita (2015), La tribu (2018), Antes de la quema (2019), Poliamor para principiantes (2021), Cuidado con lo que deseas (2021), Las delicias del jardín (2024), among others. Rosa Rosae rating: 4,5/10.
