The role will mark a reunion between Rich and “Happy’s Place” star Reba McEntire, as the two previously starred in McEntire’s hit self-titled sitcom “Reba” across its six-season run.

Rich will play Maverick, described as “a local tattoo artist that is very good at his job … as long as he’s using his right hand. Turns out Maverick has had a stroke and likes to tease new clients about which hand he’s going to use when he starts doing their tattoos.”

French multi-hyphenate Lou Doillon, who is Jane Birkin’s daughter, is set to star in Italian comedy “Quasi a casa” directed by Carolina Pavone, a former assistant director on several Nanni Moretti films.

Shooting is underway in Rome on the sophisticated comedy, in which Doillon — a model, actor and singer-songwriter, like her half-sister Charlotte Gainsbourg — plays an eclectic, successful singer who strikes up a turbulent friendship with a younger female musician who idolizes her.

Doillon became a French fashion icon in her teens after working with famed atelier Givenchy and is currently the testimonial of Cartier’s new Baignoire watchmaking collection. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has named 14 filmmakers as winners of its 49th student competition. See the list below.

All of the winning films are eligible to compete for 2022 Oscars in the Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film or Documentary Short Film category.

The winners will be honored during an October 20 ceremony at the David Geffen Theater in Los Angeles, where the medal placements – gold, silver and bronze – in the four award categories will be announced. The gala will be held in-person for the first time since 2019.

The competition received nearly 1,800 entries from 614 colleges and universities around the world. In a change from previous years, the Student Academy Awards no longer distinguish between U.S.-based and international schools for categories. All eligible submissions now qualify for the competition category the filmmaker selected in their submission application.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has revealed the winners of the Student Academy Awards, all of which are now eligible to compete for 2022 Oscars.

In the first edition of the ceremony to not distinguish between domestic and international submissions, five of the winning films hailed from schools based in the U.S., while the other half came from other countries.

The 14 winners were selected from a pool of 1,796 entries that came from 614 colleges and universities around the world. Previous Student Academy Award winners include Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Spike Lee, Patricia Riggen and Robert Zemeckis.

The winning films qualify to compete in the Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film and Documentary Short Film categories at next year’s Oscars ceremony. In the past, Student Academy winners have gone on to earn 65 nominations and 14 wins.

Cherry is best known for his Academy Award-winning project “Hair Love,” an animated short film about an African-American father attempting to do his daughter’s hair for the first time.

I’m done. I’m done. I’m done. You know, in the beginning of the episode, while Bill was pouring his unbeating heart out to Sookie, I thought to myself, I’m tired of hating Bill. It’s become too exhausting. Look at him, his voice cracking and all. Okay, I can get behind him and Sookie ending up together. Even if it’s just easier and requires less strain on my brain than remembering why I hate him.

We’re exactly one episode away from True Blood’s denouement, and while Love Is To Die might not have provided an explosive run-up to the finale, it did produce a classic slice of soapy, Bon Temps-style melodrama. With confessions, admissions and reunions aplenty, there’s literally no one in town that hasn’t unburdened themselves to great effect this week, except maybe Jason ‘I like Pink’ Stackhouse. Not sure we’ll ever see him in quite the same way again...

Last week’s True Blood was very slow in a dull way, but “Almost Home” rectified last week’s lack of intriguing story by simultaneously wrapping up a few loose story threads, tossing in several heavily-reflective character moments, and setting up the season’s–and the series’s–final two episodes.

The best moments of the episode include Hoyt whose return to Bon Temps is filled with plenty of emotion and sweetly subtle character development. Still clueless about his past, Hoyt serves mostly as the catalyst for Jessica and Jason to reevaluate where they are in...

When did we revert to the maudlin, brooding vampire? I thought we had moved past that. Even at it’s worst, True Blood never had mopey emo vampires like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Twilight. But Bill was insufferable this week. Somehow every conversation he had seemed disingenuous. I know Stephen Moyer isn’t the best actor, but even in the scenes with his own wife, all I could do was roll my eyes.

Basically, Bill is getting worse. Eric, who had found Sarah at the end of last week’s episode, took a long hit of her blood and was cured instantly. Eric visits Sookie at the Compton house to let her know that he is going to be okay, not knowing that Bill is on his death bed. Sookie begs him for the cure for Bill, and Eric is hesitant. He promises to return tomorrow night, but Sookie...

The end is well and truly nigh. For us anyway – as True Blood’s final season creeps ever-nearer to its conclusion, there was a distinct air of finality to the proceedings this week. Finality and more than a touch of forgiveness. It seems that with Sarah’s capture, and the confirmation of her status as vampire saviour, the spirit of cure and making things all better has somehow spread to the whole town – Eric’s as healthy as he’ll ever be, Hoyt’s a hero, Violet’s a big puddle, and things are looking up for everyone. Well, almost everyone. Bill’s Hep-v induced hallucinations have apparently gone to his head...

Kate Barnow: This is where we find out that Eric Northman is not leaving us, and we’ve been teasing this since basically episode 10 of last season, so it is a big moment. The sequence got pared down a bit.

The episode title "Almost Home" speaks to the marathon that True Blood has felt like in this final season. Even though many of these later episodes have featured good character moments (even going so far as to right many past wrongs), the balance between chaotic and boring can seesaw a little too violently. Still, though the path True Blood is on with some characters may feel well-worn, there's something -- like the eggs Big John made for Jason -- that is deliciously familiar. This fall, DreamWorks Animation has their film Home hitting theaters. Formerly known as Happy Smekday!, the film is an adaptation of Adam Rex's children's book, The True Meaning of Smekday. The film follows an alien race invading Earth as their new home to hide form a mortal enemy. But when one lowly alien (Jim Parsons) accidentally notifies the enemies of his whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a stubborn teenage girl (Rihanna) to right all of his wrongs. Busy little update today including a pair of comedy's in the Nick Frost-led Cuban Fury and Kevin Hart's next comedy About Last Night, both of which scored R ratings. Then there's the Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde remake of Endless Love, the young adult adaptation Vampire Academy and Veronica Mars: The Movie, all of which, yup, received PG-13 ratings. Marco Zappia, award-winning TV editor of Hee-Haw, All In The Family, Home Improvement and dozens of additional TV series and specials, died December 22 in Ventura, CA. He was 76. Los Angeles-born Zappia went from owning a TV repair shop to an award-winning career in editing that spanned four decades when he joined CBS in 1968 as an engineer in the videotape department, where he helped install the network’s first electronic editing system. His first editing gig on CBS’s variety show Hee Haw nabbed him his first Emmy and also marked the network’s first-ever win for editing. Zappia went on to edit numerous TV specials and series including Maude, The Jeffersons, The Sonny & Cher Show, All in The Family, Archie Bunker’s Place, Roseanne, and Faerie Tale Theatre. What album leaves you so relaxed that you’re virtually horizontal?

What album leaves you feeling hopeful right after the first track?

What album leaves you feeling dissatisfied and irritated after listening to an album for over an hour and thinking, “Is that really it?”

Well, Moby can answer all of those questions with his latest album Innocents.

I was really looking forward to hearing this album after recently listening to his collector’s album “Go: The Very Best of Moby.” This Best Of includes my favourite track “Honey”. However apart from a few tracks Innocents really lacks substance, fluidity and is surprisingly quite boring. As soon as the first track, “Everything Rises”, comes to a close you are left feeling out of breath from its climatic end, something we don’t really hear in the rest of the album.

Giving fans a glimpse of her upcoming music video, Mariah Carey released a teaser clip for her new single “Beautiful.”

The collaboration with Miguel shows a giggling Miss Carey with her luscious locks blowing in the wind to the sounds of a simply guitar riff.

At the end of the clip, the word “#Beautiful” flashes on the screen along with “The New Era Begins” and its release date, May 6.

This is the first single for the 43-year-old singer since her track “Almost Home,” which is featured in the end credits of “Oz The Great and Powerful.”

Mariah Carey isn't a diva who's often known for her restraint, but that's exactly the trait she's displaying with the preview for her upcoming new song.

Carey debuted a vague preview video for "#Beautiful," a single slated for full debut on May 6. It's the first track from what will be her 14th studio album, which has yet to receive a release date. The preview doesn't offer much in the way of what the song will actually sound like, aside from a few indistinct beats and the words "The New Era Begins."

"#Beautiful" features Miguel, who told MTV News on Wednesday while attending the Time 100 gala that he didn't know "why fans would put that together," referring to the rumors he and Carey were collaborating. When asked what the duet would sound like were it real, he described it as, fittingly, "beautiful." We see what you did there, Miguel.

You may not have heard of The Sun and the Sea, but they have been around for a few years under the name, The Graduate. The Graduate formed in 2005 and were active until their ‘indefinite hiatus’ in 2011. They released two albums which received high praise. I liked their style of music, and was most definitely a fan of theirs. So with great pleasure I bring you the first Ep in their new format, Vega.

The five track Ep has an overall very atmospheric and progressive feel to it. If you are familiar with their previous work you will very much be at home when listening to this Ep.

We start off with Waves. A traditional feel which is similar to their original sound, yet it comes across as fresh and improved. I like the addition of the synth elements, as it adds to the song overall.

It's the effervescent, tiara-obsessed Mariah Carey's 43nd birthday! As I've claimed previously, Mariah is the best kind of crazy celebrity because she's half-aware of her hilarious insanity: "This is a woman who loves winking decadence and snide one-liners as much as any drag queen, but because she's such an unmistakable diva and Leona Helmsley-level snob, she's oblivious to how ridiculous her attitudes and self-absorption sometimes are. That is a very exciting spectrum of nuttiness." Yes, I just quoted myself. I speak the truth!

Her fans have waited patiently, and finally Mariah Carey's new video for “Almost Home” has exploded onto the internet.

The new ditty is straight from the soundtrack for “Oz The Great and Powerful,” and there’s plenty of movie footage to build the film’s pre-release hype.

Mariah told press, "Well, I've always just loved Disney, and now especially having two little babies. Like all we do is watch animated movies, even though they're so little they still love them, especially Roc, my little boy."

Who’S It For? With brief strong moments of terror, the original Wizard of Oz movie isn’t only for kids. In fact, even that film might be too much for some of them. This version of Oz takes that concept and runs longer with it, throwing into the mix sexual innuendos and a freaky demon lady or two. It goes without saying that while this movie does have bright colors and various cute things, it’s certainly made with a reasonably mature audience in mind.
