ABC 20/20 “She was Almost Home” July 4 2025
Deborah Roberts and David Muir in 20/20 (1978)
20/20 brings viewers a powerful two-hour episode on Friday, July 4, 2025, at 9:01 p.m. Edt, revisiting the haunting case of Sierah Joughin, a 20-year-old woman who vanished while biking home one summer evening in 2016. Titled She was Almost Home, the broadcast, reported by ABC News correspondent John Quiñones, follows the desperate search to find Sierah and the shocking discovery that exposed a predator hiding in plain sight.

After Sierah disappeared near her rural Ohio neighborhood, friends, family, and strangers came together for an urgent search-and-rescue effort. Days passed with no trace of her, deepening the community’s dread. Investigators eventually uncovered critical clues leading to James Worley, a man with a violent criminal past. A search of Worley’s property revealed a barn hiding terrifying evidence of his plans and past crimes, confirming fears that Sierah had fallen victim to a repeat offender.

Image
“Happy’s Place” has brought on Justina Machado and Christopher Rich as guest stars, Variety has learned exclusively.

The role will mark a reunion between Rich and “Happy’s Place” star Reba McEntire, as the two previously starred in McEntire’s hit self-titled sitcom “Reba” across its six-season run.

Rich will play Maverick, described as “a local tattoo artist that is very good at his job … as long as he’s using his right hand. Turns out Maverick has had a stroke and likes to tease new clients about which hand he’s going to use when he starts doing their tattoos.”

Machado will appear as Maritza, the mother of Isabella (Belissa Escobedo). Maritza is said to be “a self-made woman who put herself through law school as a single mom. She started a wildly successful law practice and does not suffer fools.”

Machado and Rich will appear opposite series stars McEntire,...

Jane Birkin’s Daughter Lou Doillon Set to Star in Quirky Italian Comedy Produced by Nanni Moretti
Image
French multi-hyphenate Lou Doillon, who is Jane Birkin’s daughter, is set to star in Italian comedy “Quasi a casa” directed by Carolina Pavone, a former assistant director on several Nanni Moretti films.

Shooting is underway in Rome on the sophisticated comedy, in which Doillon — a model, actor and singer-songwriter, like her half-sister Charlotte Gainsbourg — plays an eclectic, successful singer who strikes up a turbulent friendship with a younger female musician who idolizes her.

Doillon became a French fashion icon in her teens after working with famed atelier Givenchy and is currently the testimonial of Cartier’s new Baignoire watchmaking collection. The Parisian star first acted in Italy in Abel Ferrara’s “Go Go Tales” and more recently appeared in French director Maïween’s “Polisse” and in “A Child of Yours” directed by her father, Jacques Doillon.

Pavone is a promising young helmer who has worked with Moretti on “My Mother” and “Three Floors,...

Top China Exec Talks 2020 Theatrical Lineup, Including Two From Zhang Yimou
Image
Chinese moviegoers can expect to see Dante Lam’s “The Rescue,” Jackie Chan film “Vanguard” and two titles involving helmer Zhang Yimou this year, says a top Chinese distribution executive. He also confirmed National Day releases for two propaganda films — the first concrete information on upcoming theatrical debuts for new titles in months.

China’s cinemas shuttered in late January to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus. A bevy of blockbusters expecting to see record box office returns over the Lunar New Year holiday were pulled at the eleventh hour and have not been given new release dates.

But new information from Fu Ruoqing, chairman of major state-owned distributor Huaxia, says audiences will be able to catch the delayed Chinese New Year films “The Rescue,” Dante’s epic actioner about the Chinese coast guard, and Stanley Tong’s “Vanguard” in the second half of 2020, as well as Zhang’s new spy thriller “Impasse.

Hannah Marks & Rachel Zimmermann in Drama 'Almost Home' Trailer
"This is the story of the girl who saved me." Vertical has released an official trailer for an indie homeless drama titled Almost Home, which first premiered at the Woodstock Film Festival last year finally getting a release. The film is about a young girl who runs away from home and joins a group of other young kids living homeless on the streets of Los Angeles. This is the feature directorial debut of husband-wife actors Jessica Blank & Erik Jensen, adapting from Blank's own novel of the same name. Starring Rachel Zimmermann, Hannah Marks, Niko Guardado, and Max Burkholder. As heartfelt as this story seems, it's so cheesy I was cringing at times watching this trailer. "You're stronger than you think." Of course. Check it out anyway. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Jessica Blank & Erik Jensen's Almost Home, from YouTube: A teenage girl named Elly (Rachel Zimmermann) flees abuse...

Big Bang Theory Season 10 May Be Its Last Says Kunal Nayyar
Kunal Nayyar at an event for Scream Awards 2009 (2009)
Having just wrapped Season 9 a couple weeks ago, it has already been confirmed that The Big Bang Theory will return for Season 10 in the fall. But where it goes after that is anyone's guess. It has long been rumored that America's favorite sitcom will continue for a few more years. But star Kunal Nayyar, who plays Raj, is hinting that may not be true. It's very possible that these upcoming episodes could be the show's last.

Kunal Nayyar showed up at McM Comic-Con London this past week, and he wasn't as optimistic as some of his other cast mates when it comes to The Big Bang Theory being renewed past Season 10. He claims that the cast contracts do not extend past the 2016-2017 season. And it doesn't sound like there are any current negotiations to continue, though that could change. The actor explains via Radio Times.

In Remembrance: Every Single Death From the Final Season of 'True Blood' (GIFs)
"True Blood" is officially over, and we're currently covered in a combination of tears, comfort food, and Eric Northman posters. HBO's long-standing vampire drama went all out for its finale season, by which we mean they killed off half the population of Bon Temps -- including Bill Compton. Despite Sookie Stackhouse's fairy feels, Bill met his maker in the"True Blood" final moments -- but his demise is just the tip of the iceberg.

Ready to take a walk down memory lane and revisit this season's goriest, most fangtastic deaths? Well, we've rounded up every obliteration for you to look back on (with GIFs, of course!), so go ahead and pour one out for our fallen homies.

Name: Tara Thornton Time of Death: Season 7, Episode 1 ("Jesus Gonna Be Here") If Tara's untimely doom seems somewhat familiar, it's probably because she died back in Season 4 and turned into a vampire.

True Blood: As exhausting as it is to hate Vampire Bill, we're still doing it...
Adam Armstrong is like our own TV grim reaper counting down to "True Blood"'s True Death. Only one episode to go before it's all over for the fang-bangers! Adam has dispensed with narrative tissue and is just train-of-thoughting it now in the homestretch... I'll join Adam next week for the series wrap. - Nathaniel

Episode 7.8 "Almost Home"

I’m done. I’m done. I’m done. You know, in the beginning of the episode, while Bill was pouring his unbeating heart out to Sookie, I thought to myself, I’m tired of hating Bill. It’s become too exhausting. Look at him, his voice cracking and all. Okay, I can get behind him and Sookie ending up together. Even if it’s just easier and requires less strain on my brain than remembering why I hate him.

And Then The Episode Ended The Way It Did.

I hate him again!

True Blood season 7 episode 9 review: Love Is To Die
Are happy endings really possible in Bon Temps? Here's Emma's review of True Blood's penultimate episode...

This review contains spoilers.

7.9 Love Is To Die

We’re exactly one episode away from True Blood’s denouement, and while Love Is To Die might not have provided an explosive run-up to the finale, it did produce a classic slice of soapy, Bon Temps-style melodrama. With confessions, admissions and reunions aplenty, there’s literally no one in town that hasn’t unburdened themselves to great effect this week, except maybe Jason ‘I like Pink’ Stackhouse. Not sure we’ll ever see him in quite the same way again...

The big news of the week is that Bill’s badly misplaced sense of nobility has become something of a suicide mission. Refusing to drink from the vile Ex Mrs Rev Newlin as way to permanently remove himself from Sookie’s life seems, from where we’re sitting,...

True Blood, 7.08, “Almost Home”: “No, I don’t want the blood”
True Blood, Season 7, Episode 8, “Almost Home”

Written by Kate Barnow

Directed by Jesse Warn

Airs Sundays at 9pm Est on HBO

On this week’s True Blood, Sookie seeks the newfound Hep-v cure for Bill, Hoyt reunites with Jessica, Tara makes peace with her mother, and Pam and Eric learn a few business tips.

Last week’s True Blood was very slow in a dull way, but “Almost Home” rectified last week’s lack of intriguing story by simultaneously wrapping up a few loose story threads, tossing in several heavily-reflective character moments, and setting up the season’s–and the series’s–final two episodes.

The best moments of the episode include Hoyt whose return to Bon Temps is filled with plenty of emotion and sweetly subtle character development. Still clueless about his past, Hoyt serves mostly as the catalyst for Jessica and Jason to reevaluate where they are in...

True Blood Recap: Episode 708 ‘Almost Home’
When did we revert to the maudlin, brooding vampire? I thought we had moved past that. Even at it’s worst, True Blood never had mopey emo vampires like Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Twilight. But Bill was insufferable this week. Somehow every conversation he had seemed disingenuous. I know Stephen Moyer isn’t the best actor, but even in the scenes with his own wife, all I could do was roll my eyes.

Basically, Bill is getting worse. Eric, who had found Sarah at the end of last week’s episode, took a long hit of her blood and was cured instantly. Eric visits Sookie at the Compton house to let her know that he is going to be okay, not knowing that Bill is on his death bed. Sookie begs him for the cure for Bill, and Eric is hesitant. He promises to return tomorrow night, but Sookie...

True Blood season 7 episode 8 review: Almost Home
This week's True Blood ties up a number of the season's plot threads, paving the way for the ultimate finale...

This review contains spoilers.

7.8 Almost Home

The end is well and truly nigh. For us anyway – as True Blood’s final season creeps ever-nearer to its conclusion, there was a distinct air of finality to the proceedings this week. Finality and more than a touch of forgiveness. It seems that with Sarah’s capture, and the confirmation of her status as vampire saviour, the spirit of cure and making things all better has somehow spread to the whole town – Eric’s as healthy as he’ll ever be, Hoyt’s a hero, Violet’s a big puddle, and things are looking up for everyone. Well, almost everyone. Bill’s Hep-v induced hallucinations have apparently gone to his head...

Yes, Vampire Bill is about to become Ex-Vampire Bill, deciding as he...

'True Blood' Recap: Hoyt And Jessca Reconnect, Bill Refuses The Cure
Eric is cured with Sarah Newlin’s blood, while Bill is still dying, and Hoyt kills Violet in True Blood’s “Almost Home.”

Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) barely manages to restrain himself from going for the kill when Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp) surrenders, begging him to kill her so that she can return as the messiah. With a clear head, Eric drinks from Sarah’s neck and is healed; his Hep-v veins disappear.

Lettie Mae Lets Tara Go

In Bon Temps, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), Lettie Mae (Adina Porter) and the Reverend (Gregg Daniel) take a trip on V and finally find closure with Tara (Rutina Wesley). True Blood Recap: “Almost Home”
The episode title "Almost Home" speaks to the marathon that True Blood has felt like in this final season. Even though many of these later episodes have featured good character moments (even going so far as to right many past wrongs), the balance between chaotic and boring can seesaw a little too violently. Still, though the path True Blood is on with some characters may feel well-worn, there's something -- like the eggs Big John made for Jason -- that is deliciously familiar. Hit the jump for why "even as the cure, you're still the fucking problem." Certain choices that took place earlier in the season now (almost) make sense after "Almost Home" (which is one of the things that makes weekly recapping a little unfair -- the story has to unfold to connect sometimes. But some shows are better at this than others …). Chaotic and sudden deaths like Tara's...

Anna Paquin, Ryan Kwanten, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammell, Nelsan Ellis, and Rutina Wesley in True Blood (2008)
Warning: This interview contains minor spoilers for “Almost Home,” the latest episode of True Blood.Earlier this season, when Jason Stackhouse called up his old friend Hoyt Fortenberry to let him know his mother died, you just knew we’d soon be seeing Hoyt back in Bon Temps, not only to bury his mother and take care of her possessions, but also, quite possibly, to bump into his ex Jessica. Hoyt and Jessica had too much history — from their meet-cute at Merlotte’s all the way up to her glamouring him so that he’d forget her — for them not to interact onscreen again. But to save her and Jason both in one fell swoop? That’s a final-season True Blood reunion done right. Jim Parrack, who plays Hoyt, called up Vulture while en route to the airport for his “first vacation in my adult life” to chat about drinking blood,...

'True Blood' Recap: Which Infected Vampire is Cured?
Brittany Murphy in Almost Home (1993)
In last week's episode, Eric and his companions found Sarah Newlin, Sookie chose to have sex with Bill after everyone she knew told her that he was going to die, Hoyt returned to town and Jason tried not to fall for his hot girlfriend, and Violet attacked Adilyn to get to Jessica.

In this week's episode, "Almost Home," Sookie risks her life in a pointless effort to save Bill -- pointless because Bill apparently does not want to be saved -- and Hoyt comes to Jason and Jessica's rescue. Read on to find out if the eighth episode of True Blood season 7 delivers the sex, blood and insanity we have come to expect.

Meme: “Glee” Ready To Tell More Adult Stories, “Game of Thrones” Needs More Male Nudity, Tom Hiddleston Is “The Pirate Fairy”
Judith Light returns to TV, Chris Brown is staying in jail, Almost Home has voices of Rihanna, Jim Parsons and Steve Martin

As Glee prepares for their 100th episode, they’re saying goodbye to Lima – for now. And the creative team is looking forward to telling more grownup stories for the adults of the cast, especially Kurt and Blaine. Executive Producer Brad Falchuk says he likes “seeing that relationship get tested and strengthened and sort of the adult version of those characters having real conversations about stuff and really making adult choices. They’re really having fun together.”

Moby – Innocents Review
Rating: 2 out of 5 stars

What album leaves you so relaxed that you’re virtually horizontal?

What album leaves you feeling hopeful right after the first track?

What album leaves you feeling dissatisfied and irritated after listening to an album for over an hour and thinking, “Is that really it?”

Well, Moby can answer all of those questions with his latest album Innocents.

I was really looking forward to hearing this album after recently listening to his collector’s album “Go: The Very Best of Moby.” This Best Of includes my favourite track “Honey”. However apart from a few tracks Innocents really lacks substance, fluidity and is surprisingly quite boring. As soon as the first track, “Everything Rises”, comes to a close you are left feeling out of breath from its climatic end, something we don’t really hear in the rest of the album.

Another aspect that puts me off...

Watch: Mariah Carey Unveils Preview For New Song
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey isn't a diva who's often known for her restraint, but that's exactly the trait she's displaying with the preview for her upcoming new song.

Carey debuted a vague preview video for "#Beautiful," a single slated for full debut on May 6. It's the first track from what will be her 14th studio album, which has yet to receive a release date. The preview doesn't offer much in the way of what the song will actually sound like, aside from a few indistinct beats and the words "The New Era Begins."

"#Beautiful" features Miguel, who told MTV News on Wednesday while attending the Time 100 gala that he didn't know "why fans would put that together," referring to the rumors he and Carey were collaborating. When asked what the duet would sound like were it real, he described it as, fittingly, "beautiful." We see what you did there, Miguel.

"#Beautiful" is...

The Sun And The Sea – Vega Ep Review
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

You may not have heard of The Sun and the Sea, but they have been around for a few years under the name, The Graduate. The Graduate formed in 2005 and were active until their ‘indefinite hiatus’ in 2011. They released two albums which received high praise. I liked their style of music, and was most definitely a fan of theirs. So with great pleasure I bring you the first Ep in their new format, Vega.

The five track Ep has an overall very atmospheric and progressive feel to it. If you are familiar with their previous work you will very much be at home when listening to this Ep.

We start off with Waves. A traditional feel which is similar to their original sound, yet it comes across as fresh and improved. I like the addition of the synth elements, as it adds to the song overall.

Ranking Mariah Carey's 43 Best Singles, In Honor Of Her 43rd Birthday
It's the effervescent, tiara-obsessed Mariah Carey's 43nd birthday! As I've claimed previously, Mariah is the best kind of crazy celebrity because she's half-aware of her hilarious insanity: "This is a woman who loves winking decadence and snide one-liners as much as any drag queen, but because she's such an unmistakable diva and Leona Helmsley-level snob, she's oblivious to how ridiculous her attitudes and self-absorption sometimes are. That is a very exciting spectrum of nuttiness." Yes, I just quoted myself. I speak the truth!

For Ms. Carey's birthday, let's count down her 43 greatest singles, Ok? I've (regrettably) omitted remix cuts, but I'll note here that the remixes of "We Belong Together," "Dreamlover," and "Heartbreaker" may be even better than the originas. Now, onward.

43. "Bringin' on the Heartbreak"

42. "Breakdown"

41. "Never Too Far"

40. "I Wanna Know What Love Is"

39. "Loverboy"

38. "Crybaby"

37. "Through the Rain"

36. "Thank God I Found You"

35. "I Know What...

Mariah Carey Drops “Almost Home” Music Video: Watch Here!
Her fans have waited patiently, and finally Mariah Carey's new video for “Almost Home” has exploded onto the internet.

The new ditty is straight from the soundtrack for “Oz The Great and Powerful,” and there’s plenty of movie footage to build the film’s pre-release hype.

Mariah told press, "Well, I've always just loved Disney, and now especially having two little babies. Like all we do is watch animated movies, even though they're so little they still love them, especially Roc, my little boy."

"I think it's going to be an incredible movie, and it's kind of amazing what they've done. It looks totally different than anything I've ever seen."

Carey also credits her kiddos for influencing her forthcoming album. "As everything evolved and is evolving, they've definitely been an inspiration in a really good way. So I'm excited for my lambs to hear the music and for...

Mariah Carey visits a black and white 'Oz' in 'Almost Home' video: Watch
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is back, and she doesn't need much more than her voice and a wind machine to get fans to listen.  The legendary pop star took time off from "American Idol" to visit Oz in the brand new video for her new Stargate-produced single "Almost Home," featured in the film "Oz the Great and Powerful." Director Dave Lachapelle puts his usual garish images aside in favor of simple black and white footage of the diva as she croons, emotes, strikes slo-mo poses and stares off into the distance. The sparse stage features a stool as the only prop -- unless...

Oz the Great and Powerful
Oz the Great and Powerful

Directed by: Sam Raimi

Cast: James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams

Running Time: 2 hrs 10 mins

Rating: PG

Release Date: March 8, 2013

Plot: A circus magician (Franco) is whisked away by a tornado to a land that bears his name, and is told by two witches (Kunis and Weisz) that can only save their terrorized territory by killing another witch (Williams).

Who’S It For? With brief strong moments of terror, the original Wizard of Oz movie isn’t only for kids. In fact, even that film might be too much for some of them. This version of Oz takes that concept and runs longer with it, throwing into the mix sexual innuendos and a freaky demon lady or two. It goes without saying that while this movie does have bright colors and various cute things, it’s certainly made with a reasonably mature audience in mind.
