A must watch film from early 90s era!!

Tirangaa is an action drama film starring Late Raaj Kumar, Nana Patekar, Varsha Usgaonkar, Harish Kumar, Mamta Kulkarni, Arjun, Deepak Shirke and Late Manohar Singh.

A Brigadier and a Police Inspector teams up to bring down a terrorist who has plans to evade India.

This film was a big hit upon it's release. If the film seen in current time this film might look funnier but considering the era of the the film was produced with two of the most difficulty actors to work with the film has indeed created a cult status for itself.

The plot of the film is simple and execution is also simple but the way the film is being made the film will surely keep you mesmerized and engaged.

The screenplay of the film is evenly paced and the very little twists and turns will make sure to keep you engaged throughout the film despite of the long length of the film.

Acting in the film is super impressive. Both the lead actors were aware what is required from them and they played their part with utmost perfection. Songs in the film is average but will not bore you neither creates any distraction.

Climax of the film is also good and gives a decent closure to the film. The film is surely a must film from early 90s era and this film is a guilty pleasure of mine.

    A Men's Movie !

Tirangaa is a film famous for its hardlined patriotic tones and logical actions throughout. A 90s film with all sorts of defense strategies and techniques shown properly with cautious study work done. Rajkumar and Nana Patekar both fits perfectly as the self controlled senior and blood boiling junior working as a team. Both has one thing in common as said by Brigediar Suryadev abd that's Duty. Both shares quality time of adventures, fun time and investigative experiences that strengthen their bond, makes them brotherlike despite their differences. The duo has made Tirangaa a Men's Movie in all despite strong presence of ladies.

Tirangaa, the word is used in Indian context, implies the tricolor Indian flag, whih is considered the most beloved for all those who loves India. Suryadev Singh is perhaps the most hardcore among them who has fair share in the war of 60s, 70s and 90s against enemies. He meets Wagle, the honest but anger ridden policeman who even dares to loudspeak to the supreme judge of court. Both of them has to combat Gendaswami, who dreams to destroy India. With so many attempts to execute this, his plan fails at each time making it a satisfying watch where good wins constantly without a single defeat. And within this dog cat race, few subplots including little romance between wagle and shanti, issues of Gendaswami's son and his girlfriends also put there to spice things up. The antagonies are not fearful rather are funny mindless guys who makes silly mistakes and dreams bigger than the big. When all of these becomes enough then finally Suryadev Singh finally attacks Gendaswami and finishes him in worst possible manner. It also had the missile twist which is entertaining too.

Rajkumar' one liners, who wears a neck band of indian flag and Wagle's opinion about corrupt practices are so still satisfying. The song Pi ley Pi ley reminds of the brotherhood of Indian defense society. The film is simply executed with some updated technologies of 90s, with optimistic tone throughout. And that's a plus point. It's an entertaining film as well as a film depicting patriotism and the life of people who serve or seeks to serve their nation than anything else.

    A 72/100.

    Strong acting

Tiranga was a well made action film of 90's. Script was okay as well as technical handling, direction was good, but the main focus was outstanding and convincing performances by all actors.

Nana patekar, raaj kumar, deepak shirke, manohar singh, harish, varsha usgaonkar, pankaj berry, mahavir shah, suresh oberoi, mukesh rawal and all others did a good job. The film had mesmerizing dialogues by all actors. It had all elements of a good commercial film. Mehul kumar, director handled the film well. Nana and raj kumar's scenes are worth watching. Manohar singh is highly convincing. Villain is good.

    • Trivia
The casting of the second lead character proved rather tricky. Mehul had seen Prahaar and wanted Nana. The produced Dinesh Gandhi said Nana and Raaj Kumar would not get along and problems would occur. Dinesh feared the film being incomplete due to this. Mehul called Nana and offered him the film. Nana said he does not do commercial films. Mehul said he would narrate the film to him at his place and then he should decide. Mehul went over and narrated the film. He told Nana he had 14 scenes in the film. Nana told Mehul to promise him those scenes would not be cut out in the final edit. Nana Patekar then warned Mehul that if Raaj Kumar interfered in the film in any way he would leave the film and stop shooting. He would not care if the film would be incomplete. Mehul promised Nana that Raaj Kumar would not interfere in any way. Mehul then phoned Raaj Kumar and informed him that Nana Patekar had agreed for the other role. Raaj Kumar was upset. He told Mehul that he heard Nana Patekar had a temper and would swear and yell on the sets. Mehul told Raaj Kumar that Nana seemed like a decent fellow and perhaps he had a slight temper.Mehul then told Raaj Kumar that Nana stated that if he interfered with the film , he would quit the film right away . Raaj Kumar promised there would be no problems on his end. The shooting then went off smoothly.
