I have mixed feelings about this one.
It takes place in temple street hongkong (where i also bought the horrible looking dvd) which is a big plus and feels kind of authentic.
The first 60 minutes almost feel like a serious underworld drama, about a love story between triad leader Andy Lau and religious and cute Joey Won. Its ok, maybe a little bit boring.
In the last thirty minutes the movie goes batshit crazy, when the rival gang takes over temple street, which looks like a dystopian mad max version of itself a scene later. So much for the serious drama of the first 60 minutes, but we get some bad ass action scenes involving big crowds and a lot of violence. The police simply don't exist in this world.
The ending left me kind of confused.
This is probably the most blue movie i ever saw, colorwise. But maybe its just because of the horrible picture quality of the dvd.
So if you like "A moment of Romance" and "As tears go by", this is the poor man's version of it, but still worth a watch for hongkong film fanatics. I kind of liked it...sometimes.
