Just as there is a Pokémon for any fan of the Pokémon franchise, every fan also has a movie from Pokémon's vast film roster that they view as their favorite. For fans of Lucario, the Aura Pokémon, that film may be Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, which is often seen as one of the most emotional Pokémon movies. Meanwhile, Pokémon: Spell of the Unown is certainly one of the franchise's most surreal films, with a somber atmosphere and action-packed fights sure to leave the viewer on the edge of their seat.
At the heart of each Pokémon film is one or more Pokémon that carries the narrative and either acts as a friend or foe for Ash and friends in the end. Just like in the games, every Pokémon in the movies varies in strength, though they are certainly all unique in how they use their power.

In 2025, a time when we have dozens of new anime shows every couple of months and enough fans with different tastes that it takes a lot of effort for a single show to become a viral phenomenon, it's easy to forget just how big of a cultural movement "Pokémon" was.
Based on the already hugely popular video game property of the same name, Studio Olm's "Pokémon" anime was an instant success not only in Japan but abroad too. It kickstarted Pokémania and became a global phenomenon, making fans out of millions of kids and paving the way for a wave of anime titles aimed at kids like "Digimon."
The original iteration of the anime follows Ash Ketchum, a kid who — when he turns 10 — ventures out into the wilderness on a journey to catch every single Pokémon and become a Pokémon master. That's right, a 10-year-old lives alone in the wild with no money,...

The Pokémon franchise put out a movie almost every year for 20 years straight, going back to 1998, meaning there have been quite a lot of Pokémon movies over the years. With so many movies, though, how can one pick which ones to watch?
The quality of Pokémon movies has been a rather mixed bag, to say the least, but there are still some incredible movies in there that just about any anime fan will be able to enjoy. Of course, that just makes it all the more important to sift out the best movies from those that are a little lackluster. While critics are often very negative towards Pokémon movies, they're often missing crucial context (if not the entire point of the film) due to the critic's lack of familiarity with Pokémon in general. Here are 15 of the best Pokémon movies released to date, ranked with a baseline knowledge of Pokémon in mind.

Quick Links Pokmon's Second Movie Was Almost Entirely Different Pokmon Without Ash Ketchum Takeshi Shudo originally wrote the script for the second Pokmon movie without Ash or Team Rocket. Shudo's desire to reinvent the series without Ash as the main protagonist is evident in his blog posts. The original plan was to potentially have a new character take over for Ash, leading to a different direction for Pokmon movies.
The Pokmon anime is only a little over a year into its post-Ash era, with the new series Pokmon Horizons having a completely different cast of characters. However, if the original head writer of the Pokmon anime had his way, Ash would've been finished by the time of the second movie, which fans today know as Pokmon the Movie 2000: The Power of One.

Craig's first true leading comedy role was in 2017. His experience in Logan Lucky likely influenced Knives Out. Craig reinvented his career after Bond.
Daniel Craig is most known for his role as James Bond, but with Knives Out, he has found much success starring in a genre he had previously only once explored, comedy films. Throughout most of his acting tenure - including the first two decades of his career - Craig had typically been cast in dramas and adventure films. Road to Perdition, Sylvia, Layer Cake, The Golden Compass, and Defiance stand out as prominent non-007 Daniel Craig movies. Notably, apart from Some Voices in 2000, there were no comedies in his filmography as of 2016.
In 2017, however, one well-received performance changed the trajectory of his career, opening up new avenues and granting him a new baseline in his post-Bond years. In fact, since 2017, Craig has only appeared in five films,...

Nine generations have been introduced, covering numerous video game titles, and anime series. These movies are typically outside the anime series' storyline, with the more recent few even occurring in alternate timelines. Daniel Craig first started performing when he was a child, entertaining barflies at the pub his parents ran. He'd perform impersonations of celebrities he'd seen on television. "I'd get money," Craig told GQ of his early acting efforts. "I suppose I've been making a living out of this from a very early age." While studying at the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, Craig made his professional acting debut at 16 in a Shakespeare production, quickly establishing himself as one of Britain's finest young actors. Craig was 32 when he was cast as James Bond in 2006's "Casino Royale" -- a role that would forever change his life. He played 007 in four more films, including his 2021 Bond swan song, "No Time To Die."
There's no argument that Bond has been Craig's signature role — not surprising since he holds the record as the longest-running 007, portraying him for 15 years. But those spy films,...

Bootsy Collins has released a new video for “Want Me 2 Stay” — his take on Sly and the Family Stone’s 1973 hit “If You Want Me to Stay” — featuring the song’s original bassist, Larry Graham, as well as Branford Marsalis and Uché Ndubizu.
The simple clip puts the song front-and-center, with Collins, Graham, Uché, and horn player Brennan Johns all performing in front of an array of psychedelic backgrounds (Marsalis does not appear in the clip). The scenery behind Uché remains comparatively calm, but that only heightens the emphasis on his stellar vocals.

By the time he came to worldwide prominence in 1976, John G. Avildsen had already done what some of Hollywood’s greatest ever directors had failed to do: win Jack Lemmon a Best Actor Oscar. It was an an acknowledged truth, at that time, Lemmon was one of the great masters, yet where George Cukor and even Billy Wilder failed (as he rarely did) Avildsen succeeded with Save The Tiger, the seventh in in a little-noted career of well-received, little-seen small-budget movies.
Lemmon played a small-time businessman going nowhere in ’70s America. Despite Lemmon’s oft-delayed Oscar, the movie was too downbeat to set the tills ringing. In America’s Bicentennial year however, Avildsen took on another no-hoper, going nowhere, but this time he added a happy ending. Moved by the fact that Hollywood-nobody Sylvester Stallone, with absolutely nothing whatsoever to back it up, had insisted on playing...

The new docudrama “Wheeler” follows an aspiring musician from Kaufman, Texas who travels to Nashville with dreams of becoming an outlaw country music star. Here’s the catch: Wheeler isn’t a real person, but rather actor Stephen Dorff under heavy prosthetic make up who successfully infiltrated the Music City to embark on the authentic singer-songwriter journey. In the film, the Wheeler character converses with real people in real locations and performs every musical number live, eventually interacting with real musicians like Travis Meadows, Audrey Spillman and the legendary Kris Kristofferson, Wheeler’s hero. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

This Story Has Been Updated With Craig's Comments About The Bourne Films.
By Lee Pfeiffer
Last evening Daniel Craig took to the stage for a 90 minute interview as part of the New Yorker Festival, sponsored by the legendary magazine. The interview took place at New York's School Visual Arts. Craig, who is not known to be enamored of engaging in interviews, was clearly in a feisty and humorous mood and attributed his presence at the event as a sign of his long-standing respect for the New Yorker magazine. The wide-ranging discussion covered a multitude of topics with the predominant subject unsurprisingly being James Bond. Craig was sporting a bleached blonde crew cut for a forthcoming role that made him bare a resemblance to the legendary Bond villain Red Grant, played memorably by Robert Shaw in "From Russia With Love". He was dressed casually in jeans, sneakers and a leather jacket...

The Power of One: Nichols’ Sci-Fi Studio Film a Wispy Homage
Indie director Jeff Nichols makes his first crossover to studio fare with Midnight Special, his auteur clout securing the film a competition slot in the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival just prior to a stateside release. Returning once more with his frequent collaborator, actor Michael Shannon, who has appeared in all three of his previous films, it is a particularly specific homage to popularized names like Steven Spielberg and John Carpenter, particularly from their early, celebrated period of genre infused event filmmaking in the early 1980s. But this highly uneven and distressingly cold narrative never manages to finds its stride, complete with a cast of anemic characters who never come to life behind the notable visage of well-known actors.
Roy Tomlin (Shannon) has abducted his biological son Alton (Jaeden Lieberher) from the religious cult he grew up in.

If you’re an action hero, pulling off daring rescues and badass escapes is just another day at the office. The rescue has been the prototypical action scene since humans have been able to put pen to paper. Exclusive: Actor Stephen Dorff has signed with Paradigm. Last year he moved to Resolution from Gersh to return to longtime agent David Unger, but the agency folded in October. Dorff started his career with films like The Power Of One, Judgment Night, and Backbeat in the ’90s — around the time he famously had Alicia Silverstone cryin’ in an Aerosmith music video. He has appeared steadily onscreen since, with credits ranging from vampire actioner Blade to John Waters’ Cecil B. DeMented, Lee Daniels’ Shadowboxer, Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, Michael Mann’s Public Enemies, and Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center.
Dorff starred in recent indie Zaytoun and The Motel Life opposite Emile Hirsch and Dakota Fanning, which premiered at the Rome Film Festival and won the Audience Award for Best Film. The Top 10 "American Idol" finalists were finally named Thursday night, and America got it right.Despite all the talk of relevancy and marketability, viewers voted for the best singers. After Wednesday night's downer, the results night had a largely positive feel, with the finalists singing victory songs and leaving strong impressions. Here are your "American Idol" Season 12 Top 10 (who I correctly predicted here and here):1. Paul JolleyPaul has been constantly criticized for his theatricality all season long, but this is a show. He's the closest thing to a Wgwg (white guy with guitar) this season, so he was a shoo-in. 2. Burnell TaylorI'm a shameless Burnell supporter. He's got a great story and sound. I actually though his performance to Indie.Arie's "Ready For Love" was his weakest of the season, but it was still great. I hope America will "get him," because he's a dark horse in my book.

How do you take the task of announcing the names of American Idol‘s Season 12 finalists and stretch it out over a 90-minute telecast? Well, you can start with a super-awkward framework for the episode that requires Ryan Seacrest to dash back and forth from the stage to a tiny holding room, retrieving finalists one at a time and leaving the unfortunate castoffs to stew in their own anxiety and terror.
The good news, however, is that Nigel Lythgoe & Co. introduced the idea of a victory song for each singer before he or she decamped to the Idol Couches of Safety (Tm). Okay,...

Sangeeth Sivan has earlier worked with Sunny Deol in Zor and Bobby in Ek-The Power Of One, so when he was asked by the Deols if he would be interested in doing the sequel to Yamla Pagla Deewana, Sivan immediately agreed. The sequel will retain the old characters but will have a completely different story.
Apart from Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, Sangeeth is also working with Bobby and Dharamendra in film called Cheers, which is a beautiful story of a father and son. Cheers will go on floors after Yamla Pagla Deewana is complete.

When you see Morgan Freeman, maybe you see God. Or the president of the United States. Or Nelson Mandela, or a kindly old convict, chauffeur, boxing trainer or superhero's business manager. Because he's played all those roles, and he always seems to have the answers to everything, doesn't he? And that voice! We'd buy a bag of broken light bulbs if he only narrated the commercial.

It is not very often that movie blogs can discuss politics. Why would we want to? It is a tricky subject best avoided. However, this is just a political topic that just can not be avoided.
After several allegations of sexual harassment, affairs, and other debauchery, Herman Cain decided to drop out of the 2012 Presidential Race. During his debate speeches and also in his book, Cain quoted something that sounded very familiar and only credited it to a "poet". More accurately, the quote was actually lyrics from 'The Power of One' by Donna Summer which was a popular track in Pokemon: The Movie 2000.
